Genealogy / Genealogy-Bryski(Polish)~Pelc(Austria) [7]

My cousin tried relentlessly to get the ancestry/geneology on my grandmother. My grandmother's last name was "Bryski". My great grandmother came here at age 15, with her 9 year old brother from poland and settled in Polish Hill in Pittsburgh, PA. My cousin can not find any documents showeing the 'Bryski" entrance into the US, bt believed that it was in 1917, although the first official records of the surname Bryski showed up in 1937, nearly 20 years later and with 4 or 5 different spellings, a different one for each family member. My cousin also said that of the records she was able to find, many kept leading to the surname Pelc from Austria. We're both curious as to what our heritage is...My grandmother always used to say that her family was gypsies. We thought she was being crazy, but now, because the information on her surname is so scattered and conflicting, we are unsure if she really was joking at all!
