Life / Which is the best mobile network in Poland? [29]

i'd day plus or orange but not play, it can be really expensive. For example, if i called my friend who is with Play, i pay 80g per minute and the same with a sms, but if i call any other network or sms, it's only 18g per minute. Play is new on the market and came into the market with a bang, but not the cheapest. T-mobile, plus and Orange through money at Play to get them into the market and not a UK competitor ( i won't mention any names ), so it will take time for Play to come down, but be carefull what type of package you take out. Orange on the other hand will stop your pre paid account even though you have money on your phone....They give you a certain date to do your next top up and if you don't the rest of your money on your phone is frozen until your next top up....and it sucks, my wife is on orange and never phones a lot, but this happens at the worst of times, when you really need to call....but internationally i think they are good though. But there are better ways to call overseas by using different international call cards, way more minutes for much less, so really look at that. Wow i just said a mouth full, let me go....good luck chuck :)

Work / Finding work in Warsaw / Poland as an English private tutor [63]

Hey Tommy

I live in Krakow and i'm from South-Africa. I've been here for about 8 months now and i can really tell you that most schools i've dealt with aren't interested in your qualifications. They just want to know if you can teach and what sort of price you would charge them. I'm currently working for 4 schools and i'm busy all the time. I just had an interview yesterday and got the job with another school, but this is really to get rid of the 4 that i'm currently working for, because it gets a bit much to juggle 4 at the same time, although the money is good and you work your ass off, but on a serious note, you won't struggle to find work here. I know so many brits and canadians here, and they are to lazy to work, they are just happy with the norm ( no offense to them ) but i have never had problems finding work here. I'm also a graphic designer with a master degree and i'm finding it hard to get work in this field. I had my portfolio checked by the graphics director of one of the biggest advertising companies and Poland and got told i have a brilliant portfolio but communication in polish dealing with companies will be a problem and that's most likely why i'm not getting anything. Anyway, back to the point. I will be leaving the schools that i'm with at the moment in september most likely, so if you want i can send you the email addresses of them if you like to sendyour cv. I can tell you about 1 school that will take you for sure, no problem, skills,no skills, qualifications or not, he will take you because you speaka da language-a. You'll get enough hours from them to pay you around 2-3K per month. Don't rely on privates, i used to but they really messed me around, and it's not worth it, so stay away. The polish - english speakers brought the average rate so far down that everybody wants a good deal and it screwed it all up ffor the rest of us. Anyway, give me a shout and let me know when you're in krakow as well.

When are you flying in?

Merged: Gumtree.pl

Is there something wrong with the gumtree.pl website at the moment, because for the past week i've had problems going onto the site. Everytime i open gumtree my computer will not respond and i have tried various internet connections to test this and it still happens. Is it just me or are you also experiencing the same problem?

It would be good to know, please let me know. Thanks

Work / No English Speaking Jobs in Poland...At All? [34]

Hello mate,

I saw your post, i'm a south african living in krakow for the past 2 weeks and i lived previously further north in Poland, but i'm finding it really hard to find work here. I have applied to so many english schools it's not even funny and i didn't even get a thanks for your cv reply, so i'm not getting my hopes up to much. You can find louds of english jobs advertised but getting your foot in the door is another story. I'm a teacher and a graphic designer by trade, but no luck, but i'm hanging on and keeeping my head high, i keep trying. I advertised my services as a private english teacher yesterday on the gumtree and got one phone call earlier, but then i posted another 2 ads on gumtree.pl and they send me an email just now stating they took it off because it's not in Polish, which i thought is bullshit! but anyway, i'm gonna wack some ads on the bus stops and tram stops and see what happens. Give me a shout when you get to krakow if you wanna meet up for a chat. I lived in the UK for 8 years. my email is jacusaucamp@hotmail.co.uk

cheers

Law / Banking in Poland - foreign currency? [14]

Hay Jars

Why can't they just pay it into your UK bank account and you just withdraw it over here? Another thing could be using Western union online to send you the money and then you don't really loose out or maybe Paypal? Maybe find out how far they will go to help you. Hope this helps
