Law / Exchanging Canadian Drivers License for Polish in Lublin needs Exam? [12]

Yes,be careful as on Polish D/L they have A,B,C,D.My license is D,which is for driving a car in NJ and in Poland D is for driving that huge bus.I was lucky that I checked it or would require lot of paper work etc and who knows what other hidden problems.Good Luck.

Law / Exchanging Canadian Drivers License for Polish in Lublin needs Exam? [12]

I am not brilliant so I took a translator to help(cheat sheet) me with those tricky questions.2 brains better then 1 and took it in Polish. Also FYI it will be valid only till your Canadian license is valid, but you can renew it(lol maybe you might need a medical report by a doctor to be attached, those days polish licenses never expired). Also there might be a big confusion in the office for the category(like class1,2,3 or a,b,c,I forgot which one) of the license which is different in Poland as it probably has different version of category in Canada.Incase you have that problem print the category from internet and present them with sworn translation.

Law / Exchanging Canadian Drivers License for Polish in Lublin needs Exam? [12]

Yes,you have to pass a written exam. You can take a sworn translator as well to help you as well like i did years back when they issued licenses that have no expiration date. They will also keep your foreign license and issue you a Polish one,but no biggy for5 bucks back home you can get a duplicate one, even when you tell them Polish authorities took it for Polish license.

Law / Payment of ZUS/ Income Tax - 'sole trading' business in Poland [27]

Ryczalt works great for me for almost 2 decades as in my line of work there are no deductions I can claim as all are rented for 777 umowas.Even the liability insurance is paid for by the tenant and I get net net net rent and collect vat and forward to tax dept.Learnt years back that when you buy a new property, paying VAT monthly also gets you your VAT refunded in a month, unlike paying quarterly they will make you wait for 3 months to get your VAT money back ,which is usually a very significant amount.

Law / Payment of ZUS/ Income Tax - 'sole trading' business in Poland [27]

If someone makes money here and doesn't pay ZUS, that's a fraud. And cheating the system

I do legally too,for the last maybe 18 years in Poland.Never paid a dime in ZUS.And why should I have to when I can get away with it LEGALLY?That is certainly not cheating the system, its the taxation law.

Just to update you its called "REACHOUT".I pay 8.5% tax only and from this year it goes to 12,5% on any income over 600k Pln a yr.No deductions allowed ofcourse, but I dont have any:)

Law / Payment of ZUS/ Income Tax - 'sole trading' business in Poland [27]

Yup,I agree.I want to have as much money as I can make legally, but dont want to be the richest man in the cemetary.Money is never enough anyway and there is no end spending it.I always wondered what is rich with what net worth?I think poverty in developed countries is usually created by lazy people or people with no common sense to survive.

Dirk you are very right about poor people eating more junk food and thus are more overweight.Last cpl of months I joined a Hi Fi gym around me and most people in that place are in shape then the other gyms Ive been going to.

lol and when I have a hangover i spend 10 minutes more in the sauna.I didnt know hep c can cost so much.

[moved from]

@Dirk,most people here are not in business and cant even imagine what a business person thinks like.My inlaws are working class and are so dependent on pension, whereas mostly a business person dont even care about the peanut pension they will have to live of.Some people make enough money a month then 3 Sexpats income combined a year and in Poland(I personally know maybe 5),they can never imagine that.Remember when there was advice given here by some posters to report the landlords for tax evasion?thinking everyone is evading 8.5% tax.So for some it can be boasting.

you don't pay ZUS?

I dont mean to step on your toes in any way,but couldnt resist to tell you that lots of people in Poland make over 7 figure Zs and still dont pay a dime in ZUS,and why should they if they are not required to.

Love / Well.. I got a Polish girl pregnant.. [88]

Be prepared for the whole life alimony

You will need to pay alimony

Good news!He will not pay a dime in Alimony though,But will surely pay for CHILD SUPPORT.
Not that I suggest anything and you cannot even legally suggest the girl for abortion(i think),but I know about a dutch woman Rebecca who started "woman on waves" organisation in Poland.

Love / How easy is it to pick up a girl from a club/bar in Warsaw ? [65]

so I just visited neworleans.pl/ strip club in Warsaw

Its right in the next building where I live in Warsaw, every sat/sunday early morning you can see the bouncers beating up the rowdy/drunk patrons,Infact some bouncers are my pals and there is a trick they play with foreigners after the thrashing whole crew is exchanged with another club in a bouncers operated cab, when the cops come the victim cannot identify any on the bouncers:)

Till you talk/laugh spend money is ok, as you touch the girl your ass is grass.

Real Estate / Polish property at public auction and best exposure [21]

@Jaimeg,I tried that maybe 8 years back, its a long process and there are big fish in it.Its advertised by komerniks(baillif/Sheriff) and the auction date set.I forgot how much, but you have to deposit some amount to bid.Trust me the guys I saw in auction was like old timer mafiosis and knew what to take. You will be left over with some ****** property probably worth lot less then you pay or the property has some kind of problems.

There are also some properties repossessed by the bank and the agent(realtor) was involved,I think I saw some on Oferty.net.

Work / Looking for work in Poland like farming [10]

Dirk nowadays English teaching is the dog work in Poland.Early morning till late hours when the client requires, with long breaks inbetween not to mention cancellations. Also nowadays there are tons of native Poles teaching english which is widely prefered by locals. One is lucky to get groceries with the kind of money native speakers make forget rent and other expenses also after they cheat on there taxes. Also i dont know if the OP needs work permit etc. Those meat factory guys I heard pay for all the work permit/taxes etc as finding workers in Poland is gettng very hard nowadays.

Please dont compare that to yourself as you are way past that high school education and experience.

Real Estate / Renting out my appartment in Poland - how to do it properly [12]

The "not paying" option i am not worried

This is your main worry in this line of work.I have been doing this for the last 20 years in US and 18 yrs in Poland.I only have one residential in Poland that after 3 years of struggling with around 4 tenants I finally rented it to an American friend who is my best payer in Poland for the last 8 years now and also I jack up 100Pln in rent every year.

Also another tip: I only specify one person to be staying in the property. In case another one(like spouse/friend) moves in (without my written consent) is an violation of the lease, and can be used against the renter,if any conflict starts.

Also in reachout Tax no deductions are allowed of any kind.
Some people also dont let the tenant change electric on there name and bill the tenant seperately so incase of conflict they can shut of electric, but that was an old time practice in Poland when umowa was not properly signed.

Love / So I got a call yesterday from those Polish teens who tried blackmailing me [22]

Dolno he is right, the history tells us about dangerous people in contact with Polish Catholic kids(or infact any kids)has to be checked and monitored at any cost. They should be treated or incarcerated so they dont ever ever get in contact of minors, not only in Poland but elesewhere also.

Real Estate / Renting out my appartment in Poland - how to do it properly [12]

I also wonder if 777 umowa works for residential properties as it is easier to kick out the tenant in 2 weeks or so,if they dont pay or whatever(which has to be notarised and paid for by the tenant).Never also get them meldunek,as they can take the umowa and get temporary meldunek themselves, also write in umowa that its there responsibility to cancel meldunek once they are out as its a 2/3 months process to get the tenants meldunek cancelled. And the Tax is 8.5% flat till 300K pln income, over that is 12.5% from this year.
