Language / Help me figure out the spelling of these Polish names? [17]

I don't know the actual spelling on my family's Polish surname (it was American-ized years ago). However I know how it's pronounced (los-chuh-ski). Based on this pronunciation, I guessed it would be spelled like this: Loszczyski However, a friend from Poland told me that looked peculiar, and not like a typical Polish last name.

Does this look right? Any other ideas on the possible spelling of the name?

One thing to remember Liz Polish grammar is hard for a non speaker the suffix at the end of words changes depending when you're referring to a male or female, past/present/future, a person or a thing. If you practice you'll get the hang of it.

I can already tell, even in the early stages of learning Polish, that this will be a struggle!!

Moim ulubionym kolorem jest różowy.

Could someone explain why it has to be in this particular tense? It is because "kolor" is masculine?

I'm trying to teach myself Polish. I've only been doing so for, at most, 3 weeks, so I am still in the very basic stages. I am using books from my public library and some Youtube videos as reference. I compiled this little "biography" about myself using the terms I have learned. I'd like somebody to check it and let me know if my grammar is correct! Thanks!

Dzień dobry! Mam na imię Elizabeth. Mam osiemnascie lat. Jestem z Ameryki. Lubię Polska i język polski! Równiez, lubię cyztać, pisać i robić zakupy. Moja ulubiona kolor jest różowy.

That's about as far as I was able to get :(
I tried to construct the sentence "I hope to learn Polish" but I am having difficulty. Any help?

Oh goodness. Ok, thank you for the advice! I appreciate it a lot.

And to PolskiMoc- That's not so nice of him to tell me I am not Polish because I live in America! I know I still have a lot to learn, but I am making the effort, and I am proud to be Polish! (Even if I only am a small percentage)

Cześć! My name is Elizabeth, 18 years old, and I am a 4th or 5th generation Polish-American. I unfortunately do not know much about my Polish roots or that particular side of my family. It's a shame, really.

Though my Dad always told me I looked and acted "polski", and my adorable Polish neighbor would say about me, "She look a-like a little Polish doll!", I never got much exposure to the Polish culture. I knew a few words, but my knowledge ended there.

I've always been fascinated by the Polish culture, though. I just adore everything about it; the wonderful people, beautiful and complex language, yummy food and the gorgeous art/architecture etc..

So I am now making it my mission to get back in touch with my Polish roots! It's always been my dream to visit Poland, but I believe first, I must learn the language! It's super difficult, but I think since I am passionate enough about it, that I will achieve fluency (or at least something close to it!) within a decent amount of time.

So I just thought I'd introduce myself to everyone on this forum and maybe see if anybody is interested in helping me out (exchanging emails, video-chatting and so on) I think it'd be great to have a mentor of sorts, or even just someone who is trying to learn the language as well and would like a "buddy"!

And after I can speak Polish impeccably...my next step will be to find myself a lovely Polish man to marry! :)
