Law / Can I travel to other EU countries with my Polish Karta Pobytu? [19]

Merged: Travel in Europe with Temporary Polish Residency

I'm a foreigner working in Poland. I currently have a Shengen VISA but it expires in a few months and then I will apply for a temporary Polish Residency. Does any-one know whether there are travel restrictions on the residency card. Or can I travel for short holidays to any EU country? :-)

Travel / From Katowice to Lodz and Czestochowa by train [5]

I am planning to go to Barcelona in June 2011 and it seems that the easiest way to get back to Lodz (where I stay) would be to fly to Katowice. I will be arriving at the Katowice airport at about 17:30. Can any-one please help me with directions from the airport to the trainstation? Are there regular trains between the two? And how much would a ticket cost?

Thank you in advance!

Travel / Best way to get from Lodz to Warsaw? [48]

I did take the bus - it worked out quite well. I went to Fabryczna beforehand, but they told me that the only way to find a ticket is with the busdriver on the night. The potential problem is of course that you can arrive there in the middle of the night and the bus could already be full. Lucky for me, there were still space left. If you want to take this bus, I would suggest to be there at least half an hour before departure time - then you can be the first one to buy a ticket when the bus arrives and there shouldnt be a problem. :-)

Travel / Best way to get from Lodz to Warsaw? [48]

Hi Atom
If I can give you one piece of advice in Lodz it would be this - write everything down in Polish (use google translate)! Most taxi drivers don't speak English and I have found some that don't even understand the words "airport" or "train station". In Warsaw you shouldn't have that problem, though. Try google maps to see which city buses or trams will be able to take you from the station to your hotel (just be careful - the routes are correct on google, but the times are wrong). Also be sure that you can ask to buy a ticket for the trams/buses in Polish - these can be bought at most small shops and newagents in Lodz and you will surely find a shop at Fabryczna station. It should cost about 2,90zl for an half hour ticket or 9,60zl for a 24hr one. You stamp them once you get on the tram/bus and can then use them for the allocated time on ANY tram and any bus in the city. Just be warned - if you're caught without a ticket you will get a 70zl fine.

Now I also have a question: Does any-one know how much a taxi costs from Lodz to Warsaw. We are four people travelling and figures it might work out cheaper to share the taxi fare than to take the train as usually...

Thanx

I have exactly the same problem - am flying from Warsaw this Saturday 6am. I want to take the bus, but where can I find tickets? Should I buy them directly at Fabryczna station or are they available online?
