Real Estate / Do I really need NIP and PESEL to buy an apartment in Poland? [4]

Hi there,

My Polish wife and I are looking forward to buying an apartment in Gdansk in the very short term from a developper.
He asks me for NIP and PESEL, which I do not have, as I do not work and live in Poland and am not a Polish citizen.

Is it really compulsory?
