Love / Good looking Polish women with ugly men [416]

It is attitudes like yours that contribute to the perpetuation of the double standard.

I fail to see how the gay guys offend the straight guy when they actually help him. You obviously are extremely threatened by the fact that it happens to be gay guys helping out a straight man to find that offending.

Its not like they are saying to him "You are an idiot and less worth than me because you are straight".

I can agree on the other hand that the whole PC thing has gone overboard but I cannot for the life of my see what is so offending about this show. For christ sake, (now you made an atheist swear on god! lol) its just a show about clothes, cooking and interior decoration! lol

Try making a show called "Straight Eye for the Queer Guy" where a group of straights tries to make a gay femboy more masculine and see how that flys. :s

LOL

I just think you have spent a little too much time over analyzing the show (and the title!).

There are many men out there that could use with a bit help, (sense of style, learn how to cook and how to take care of themselves). If the show doesn't appeal to you, - Good for you! Im sure you know how to look good for the ladies and how to take care of yourself, but there are people that dont know how to do this.

I think you need to have a bit more relaxed view and just think about the show for a minute. It is about 5 guys that helps a guy that needs some help. They are not trying to make him more feminine, just show him a few handy tricks of looking good and impressing the ladies.

The whole show is also a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor and doesn't seem to take it self too seriously.

;-)

Maybe all that is needed is a polish version of "Queer eye for the straight guy"? ;-)

Not necessarily. I repeat myself, "I personally believe that they don't have much choice and get what's available". (talking about Polish girls)

OR, they can do what my missus did. Go abroad and find a boyfriend! (talking about me of course!) ;D

Life / Expats in Poland - would you fight for your new country? [105]

If sweden and poland in some for some unseen strange reason would go to war against each other, I probably would be a coward and run away and hide. However since I have done my national service in Sweden I would be required by law to come back and fight for sweden.

In the case of Poland being invaded/attacked by someone else than sweden, - I dont know. I would love to say that I would somehow enlist to protect the ones I love, however I would be more likely to grab my loved ones here in Poland and take them with me to Sweden to safety and wait it out.

Would it be a situation of defending my loved ones or we all die or end up in some POW camp then of course I would pick up arms. I would fight for the people, not the country.

Travel / Anything and Everything worthwhile about Warsaw to share [23]

Merged thread:
What is there to do in Warsaw?

Hi Everybody!

Im kinda new to this forum though I have been reading the posts here for a while, I find most of the discussions quite interesting since it teaches me a lot about the general attitude amongst the Polish people.

Anyway, I am just about to move to Warsaw to work there, Im moving to Poland mainly because of my girlfriend but I am also really keen of learning a new language, culture and people (I have been spending the last 5 years in Nottingham/Birmingham and felt it was time for a change!)

So I was wondering if you boys and girls out there wouldnt mind helping me with a few things,

Is there a lot of live music in Warsaw? Im really into going seeing live bands on a regular basis.

How's the clubbing life there? Im mainly into alternative electronic music (apoptygma berzerk, covenant, vnv nation, code 64, nitzer ebb) but I do enjoy "normal" clubbing as well.

Also is there any good bars for a few pints after work/weekends around the centre?
I will be living on Jana Pawla II street so are there any good bars around there?

Im also into art/museums, any good ones that I should check out?

Can anyone also recommend a good polish language teacher?

Anything else I should know about Warsaw?

Sorry about the long post! ;-)
