Life / Polish dentistry cost - 230 zl for one tooth cavity filling [99]

it's one root canal which will need a crown on it and then 6 cavities which need normal fillings, ideally the white composite ones rather than amalgam which is what the nhs offer. the day i need 6 crowns in one go i'll be getting dentures he he! from what you've said the crown will def be a lot cheaper in poland, but what about the other fillings? in england i'm looking at about 100 quid for each white filling because they're classed as cosmetic, but is this really going to be much less in poland? its been nearly 3 years since i had the filling in wroclaw and i'm not sure how prices would work out now especially as last time i got 6zl to the pound! thanks for the info so far by the way.

unfortunately they're all just far enough back to not be white on the nhs,but 6 lumps of amalgam isnt going to look pretty! before you say it i know, i really should have taken more care of them when i was younger. thanks for the advice though, it sounds like if i came over for a week it could all be sorted. is there any reason why they wouldnt tackle a quadrant of my mouth a day for 4 days while they make the crown? or do they like to leave it a few days before each treatment?i appreciate there might not be a million dentists on here but any personal experiences would also help! cheers in advance guys.

hi guys, its been a while since i've been on here but im desperate for some advice. apologies for the bad spelling and grammar but my keyboard has given up the ghost so i'm having to use the onscreen one. anyway, back to business. i had some dental work done in wroclaw a couple of years ago and was really happy with the work they did, but am now back in england because of work commitments. i went to the dentist here in blighty today and as well as a few holes i knew about which i should have sorted before (i know it's stupid but i have an irrational fear of the dentist because they can never deaden my nerves!) i also need root canal work after a tooth broke, it f***ing hurts because the nerve is exposed! the dentist explained that under nhs rules it'll cost me about 50 pounds to get the root canal work done with a temporary filling that will last a month or so before it needs a crown. unfortunately, the crown will cost me a further 200 and something pounds, and that is with one of the horrible amalgam ones! also, any of the other fillings i want to be white will cost an extra 80 pounds each! i dont have a huge ammount of money and i dont want to look like jaws from james bond! my question really is if i get the root canal work done in england would it cost a lot less to get a white crown done in poland, and how long would i need to be there because i assume they'd need to take a mould and then make the crown. any info from you guys would be greatly appreciated!

Work / I'm desperate for some employment advice in Poland and I'm not speaking about teaching English! [2]

Hi everyone,

I've actually been following the posts on this forum for a couple of years now, but I've only just registered because I really need some advice from anyone that might be able to help! I moved to Wroclaw with my partner in May, she's polish and she had the opportunity to get some good work here so we decided we'd go for it. I spent 4 months here about 2 years ago and I loved it, but this time I think it's probably going to be a fairly permanent relocation, especially as if I'm honest it seems like the U.K isn't going to be the best place to be for the foreseeable future.

The last time I was here I was able to find English teaching work fairly easily, to be honest I think even now if you're a native speaker with a good accent you'll find work even without previous experience. However, the last time I did it I found it soul destroying! The money was good and the work in itself not bad, but I didn't feel like I was accomplishing anything or stretching my abilities. I think the nail was hammered in the coffin when I was told I should print some business cards, and when I said I wouldn't have a clue what to write on them I was told to write 'native speaker'! Not exactly going to do me many favours on my C.V back in Britain if you know what I mean.

Anyway, here I am in Wroclaw and what am I going to do for work? I need to find something that I can look at as something permanent, not just some money to tide me over while I'm here. My last position in England was as a manager of a care home for adults with learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, people on the autistic spectrum etc. My Polish isn't the worst but I fully appreciate that I couldn't work with this type of client group without it being 50 times better. This leaves me with the conundrum of what to do. Likewise, I've got a plethora of industry specific qualifications and have completed courses at honours level through universities, but if I'm asked if I actually have a degree, the answer is no. I'm aware that having a degree here is really quite important for even entry level jobs, and this could prove a real barrier to me obtaining employment with one of the big internationals like Google or H.P.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to think I've got something to offer professionally speaking, my analytical and problem solving skills are sharp and I'm sure that it'd be fairly easy for me to diversify, but where to start? Does anyone know of any firms that would consider an application based on work experience without a formal degree? Perhaps someone on here could point me in the right direction?

P.S On a lighter note I'd love to meet anyone in the Wroclaw area if you're having a get together, I'm aware there's a fair expat group here. Apart from speaking with my partner I'm finding a bit tiring having to mind my grammar constantly, so the opportunity to meet a few people for a relaxed chat would be great!
