Seanus: You might be partially right. It might be about hanging out and being in contact with the English language too. But not only that. I think that like attracts like. All of my closest childhood friends have become multilingual successful expats with their careers in different locations in the world- I'm an ex expat myself. To find their equivalents here- I need to speak to the foreigners. And when it comes to my love life- it just happens that native English speakers have certain appeal to me- like blue eyes to some. But to reassure those who questioned my mental health - English is not the only criterion. I look for the whole package. And yes, I date Polish speaking guys too.

Not quite. Let me see if I can explain it better this way...

This discussion is going off topic now. I understand what you're trying to say but I don't agree completely. I still think that there is place for both terms- preference and discrimination -and they don't mean the same. Maybe it's about the way one describes things, maybe it's about the hate factor or the lack of it. Being brainwashed is not the right way but denying the whole issue isn't either.

Just because you refuse to see it or admit it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Since you need some more thorough insight I'll provide. The difference is - I explained in detail why for my personal reasons I choose to be involved with certain group of people. Without deprecating the other group. That is called preference.

The other guy though openly decried a group of people. That is called discrimination.

If you follow your philosophy - when you choose strawberry ice cream - you discriminate against vanilla.

For her to attack one while promoting the other is PC hypocrisy. So much for her "open minded" claim...

When did I attack anyone?- because clearly I must have missed that. And since when having your preferences is a discrimination? Be PC but don't be absurd.

There are some expat groups that you can find in facebook. Some are really active and they even organize trips (irregular but quite often) to different parts of Poland, you can subscribe and try to attend their activities.

but why did you move back to PL than?...I can understand if it was a must but if it was your free will than rather bad choice bearing in mind that you do not get along with most of the countrymen

I came back because I wanted to- and believe me I don't regret it. I never said I didn't get along with people here- I said it's not always simple. I moved back for many reasons- my family, the job opportunities I have here, nostalgia too. I don't think I'm contradicting myself if I want to live in my country but at the same time long for the part of life I used to have. Life is complicated, you have to make different choices and live with the consequences. But I believe you have a right to chose and you don't need to apologize to anyone for it.

Wow so now a racist. And I'm discriminating against the Poles. That's a first... Ok just because some of you were so nice to me today and the others seem to be so eager to straighten me out- I will try to explain what I mean.

I find myself open minded. Even too open for some people liking as I've seen today. One thing is that I used to live abroad for a long time so now it is quite tricky for me to readjust to the Polish mentality. So living in Poland with someone with similar experience might be helpful. The other thing- you might call it a fetish :) I love English. I speak other languages too but -as it happens all my ex's were either American or Brits- not their fault - I just met them there. So as I mentioned I was thinking about native English speakers- that means English, Scottish, Irish, American, Canadian, Australian, S.African- just to mention a few. One of my close friends is Samoan. That would count too- if he wasn't gay.

I don't. I just lived abroad for too long and now have problems to fit in. I seem to get along with non-Poles/ or the Poles who traveled -better. And your sudden correctness sound ironic after your previous remarks.

Thanks MIPK. Most of my friends are English speaking. The problem is that all of them live outside of Poland. I'm attending my English mate's wedding in November- you say there's hope ;) ?

Hello everyone
This is my first post here and I'm glad I found this forum. I wanna ask your advice about something even though it might seem a bit silly. I am a Polish female living in Poland- and I'd like to find a native English speaking boyfriend. My English is pretty decent so it's not like I'm trying to find myself a tutor. It's hard to explain but I just love the language, the culture and due to my history I do associate my love life with English. The thing is that I'm not planning to relocate to another country, I like it where I am. I don't live in Warsaw or Krakow either so meeting some English speaking people is not so easy. Also I don't like those dating sites, so what options do I have ? Any tips anyone?
