Love / Dating a Polish/Italian Guy [18]

Well there is nothing wrong with sleeping with a person per se, under the proviso that both of you have the same understanding of the situation.

Love / Dating a Polish/Italian Guy [18]

We've only known each other for a month for Christ's sake.

Is more than enough time to know if you love somebody or not.

Love / Dating a Polish/Italian Guy [18]

Any guy who is controlled by his parents is not a real guy. Or he is using his parents to keep you at a distance because he is afraid of commitment. If he likes you the parents should not even come into it.

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

Another of those 'the best every way of learning English!' systems.

Interesting, which school is one of the better ones around?

News / Poland and Kresy being reunited? [162]

So all Jewish Nobel laureates who were born in the USA are actually not Americans? Interesting "theory" you have there...

No the point i am making is that the Germans did not consider the Jews to be German, that's all.

News / Poland and Kresy being reunited? [162]

Halicz was also Ruthenian before it became Polish, the nobility and townsfolk became Polish over time though.

Perish the thought though, I can't imagine that Germany, this self-flagellatingly repentant country would ever want western Poland back-the horror. The country of Albert Einstein (actually Jewish and not German-and the German nation demonstrated its gratitude to this genius by treating his distant relatives accordingly with German tradition) (: Even if Germany wanted to, it would invade-look at the global fire power index and you will see why. And the Poles can always count on traditional French arrogance and nuclear might to keep Germany in check.

Lviv Oblast would only become Polish if Eastern Ukraine became Russian, and the rest of Ukraine started to descend into chaos, with some desire by the local population to be incorporated to the civillised west against the tide of eastern Russian barbarism, on the basis of a promise made by Poland that at some distant time Lviv Oblast would be once again incorporated into, and be at the vanguard of a free and democratic Ukrainian nation with all its constituent parts intact.

Australia / Australian citizen wanting to go to Poland for as long as possible - needs Polish Visa [49]

People do not seem to give you much hope, but i say give it go. In the end if nothing comes out of it at least you would have has some experience. True it would be sensible to take some savings with you, you might want to pursue education further education in Poland in English which might enable to to gain some gainful employment later on....

In short where there is a will there is a way, if you are really committed to your partner and she is to you, it could work out. It is worth will exploring if either one of your parents and grandparents were Europeans, that way you could get an EU passport, which would make things easier.

History / Not only Mazowiecki damned an innocent bishop [74]

Is this your usual BS dug up from wiki, or do you have a bit more credible information than wiki, like the Institute of National remembrance for instance? Or at the very least a newspaper article not written by Gazeta Polska or Fakt? And having had a look at your link, guess what Mazowiecki's name doesn't even appear on the list.

Life / Polands' Generation Y = instant generation [22]

No it does not because I don't do any of these things, and i only visit facebook occasionally during working hours(: It would be worth mentioning that Genration Y lives in a far more competitive labor market, which demands far more qualifications than what previous generations needed. So i find all these comments about gen Y pretty glib to say the least.

Travel / Worth visiting Warsaw? [20]

Most definitely worth a visit. When I first visited Warsaw i experienced an atmosphere of dynamism and history which i found to be absent, in some of the more 'synthetic; and 'artificial' capitals of Europe.

History / Poland's Roads in the 17th Century [19]

Interesting, though i did not read about this particular passage (just about the meeting). The section i have in mind talks about the changes witnessed in Warsaw during Poniatowski's reign.

History / Poland's Roads in the 17th Century [19]

Hi again, I seem to remember a mention of Warsaw roads/streets in Adam Zamoyski's book titled, The last King of Poland.

History / Poland's Roads in the 17th Century [19]

I haven't come across any information either however, given the 'regionality' of Poland at that time I would imagine that only municipal roads were kept like genuine roads. Because of the power and influence of regional magnates at the time I would guess that there would't have been any coordinated national road system. It would probably up to the local magnate to decide on the sate of local roads. Canal systems were quite a coordinated affair, an extract from Adam Zamoyski's book:

" in 1771 a canal was dug connecting the Vistula to the Warta; in 1775 the king commissioned a project for one between the Bug and the Pripet; in 1767 Prine Michal Oginski had begun digging a canal linking the Niemen and the Dnieper, thereby making it possible to navigate the Baltic to the Black Sea, which opened up alternative markets for exports."

History / How I blew a 6 figure grant for my charity because of my appreciation of Polish history... [77]

Anyway I later found out that that guy was a big shot philanthropist who gives millions to charities like mine. I probably blew a nice grant.

Good for you, you stood up for what you believed was right, a lot of people who share your view would have probably ignored the comment or simply moved on to another topic, not a lot of them would have had the gumption to set the record straight, due to the discomfort involved.

Sadly i find that some people who perfectly believe the atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis on the Jewish people, and so they should, are not as credulous when it comes to life stories and the history of non Jewish Poles.

Law / Poland's job offers advertising salary less than a minimum wage? [15]

You do this in Germany or UK, you will be fined on the spot.

Not in Germany, because Germany doesn't have a minimum wage. I have never worked in Germany, but i would imagine the culture in that country would prevent this type of exploitation
