Genealogy / Polish nationality? Which of the following (if any) determine being Polish. [231]

Well because what else is he supposed to say 'I feel Czech and always will' he told you what you wanted to hear.

Why? I bet I didn't sound like I'm working for the Homeland Security, lol He told me that he always dreamed (dreamt for our British friends) about moving to the US. He seemed to be really genuine about it.

People born in an another country will always feel that they are that nationality

maybe mostly but not always PB. I know, you're trying to excuse your butt now, (lol) but don't speak for everyone else because that Czech guy really sounded like he meant what he was saying.

Many born here to immigrant parents still feel they are, it's not uncommon at all.

I don't know about MANY but some for sure. I could imagine, it's mostly the case with Pol-Ams judging by this forum but then again, some guy (a member of PF too) from Chicago told me that PolAms in Chicago are not as anti American as some of you here. I can only repeat what PolAms are telling me as I've never met any PolAm (if I did, I didn't know about it) in the US but of course I've met whole bunch of Poles while I was in Poland.

Nope, you are Canadian.

nope Candy, he is what he says he is. It's a same with many (not all though) Poles here in the US too. I even prefer if they call themselves Polish, at least I'm less disappointed when they don't act like us when it comes to showing appreciation for everything this country and people did for them. I personally don't blame them for being here since everyone chooses a better place to live for himself. The only thing I don't like about it is that if they don't feel like saying positive things about us, at least they shouldn't constantly criticize everything here either (a little bit of fairness, that's all).

Feedback / Why are there so many on here, who do not like Poland [150]

you telling people now they cant joke around in a public forum?

why are you still saying that he was joking? Did you read his other posts? According to his other posts, I'm convinced, he wasn't joking when he said it.

so its ok for you to speak but your now the almighty?

very true Pat, people are being judged and so are you by supporting his nonsense.

never called you a name in his life and only was stating how he felt about poland?

hey, don't worry about DE and I, we'll manage it this way or another. As far as Valpomike, I'm not judging an older man, I'm judging his post that simply doesn't make any sense. Again Pat, this is a public forum, nothing for sensitive people. The only way one will avoid replies (doesn't matter positive or negative) is when he doesn't post here. In my eyes, he was dead serious when he made that comment and I expressed how I feel about. Nothing uncommon on an open forum.

Yeah why dont you make some sense

Something you obviously can't determine or you wouldn't be coming back defending your lost case.

you have no right to judge if you dont want to be judged!

wrong again, I don't mind to be judged as long as the person who does it, tells the truth and I gladly admit my mistakes if I feel like I'm wrong. I believe you're misinterpreting the word judged. You're talking about being insulted and it's not the same. I haven't used any cuss words while expressing my disapproval for Vaslpomike's comment. I called it nonsense because it is nonsense in my eyes (btw. not only mine).

you said you react to anything.

read it again what I said exactly, the sentence was much longer, wasn't it?

Im not copying you at all, Im much older then you so if anythings copied its from me.

lol

any examples? have I ever copied you? NO and it will never happen. I prefer to be creative and trust my own judgement and "if anything", I'd rather "copy" my parents (much to learn from them indeed).

I just prefer to leave the older generation alone.

In general I agree with you but this is an open forum and people are being judged by what they post and not by their age (at least it should be that way). Nonsense shouldn't be tolerated despite one's age.

well dont get a job in the nursing home you will prob lose your job if you talk like that to
people in there just cause they said something you didnt like or react to.

this is a public forum, not a job.

DON'T TRY TO COPY ME, PATRYCJA19, you're really not doing yourself a favor, trust me, lol (we're way too different).

do you deny your grandparents anything? do you argue with them about what they did in life vs what you learned??

what are you saying Pat? what does it all have to do with patriotism?

he prob was joking when he said that, because he had a great time. I dont really believe poland will
do you based on what he said??? will it change anything for you? nope.

his other posts on PF indicate that he definitely meant it. Of course, it doesn't "change" a thing to me what he says here but if we put it that way, then why are we even here on PF? We came here to discuss after all.

its funny, you all want things your way

our way? I can't talk for anyone else but I'll always react when I read something that is opposing common sense and his statement did just that.

you not even letting him use his freedom of speech
because he isnt entitled to his opinion now is he,, only yours is correct!

entitled to his opinion? Tell me about his opinion. What is it? That "Poland will be a world leader soon"?
According to what you're saying, we have to accept opinions even if they don't make any sense at all, right?

However, respect is earned and telling people to write only good things or disappear is hardly respectful, IMHO

If Poland was such a paradise (and in some ways it is), then why do so many Poles leave?

common sense, nothing to add to it and nothing of what you said is anti Polish whatsoever.

hes part of our older generation people so lets not get idiotic and be dork brains and disrespect those
who lived a lot longer on this earth.

It's OK to be proud of your heritage but it doesn't serve your case at all when Valpomike or anyone else, makes statements like the one below:

5. Will be a world leader soon

Patriotism YES, blind patriotism NO.

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

Of course we have many fat people here, I never denied it. All I said to PB was that the Europeans are catching up and I proved it posting a Polish link to make it more credible for him.

It'snot enlarged like your source that gives the highest possible it could be, mine says 15-25 which means 15-25, not 25%.

did you think for a second that the reason why my link provides solid numbers is because it's not an estimate? 15-25 looks to me like an estimate while, let's say 20 is a solid number, more credible in my eyes.

This is my country too sweetie.

It's your fault honey bunny because you told me not too long ago that since you can't be both, you choose to be Polish and not American, remember? You also said that you love Poland while you only like America.

Not that any of what you said bothers me but I call you Polish because it's your own choice. I only honor your choice, that's all. If it bothers you, let me know and I'll call you American again.

And here it's getting worse fast

as it is obviously (according to the Polish link) in Poland too.

I'll give you an example my mom who is 51 at 5'7 weight 150lbs. my 26 yr. old sister at 5'7.5 weight 120 lbs. what is the average American woman's weight?

I'll give you an example, my mom weighs 115 lbs by 5'5" and I weigh 107 lbs by 5'7", what's the average weight of a Polish woman?

Do you see what I'm saying? We both haven't answered anything, do you agree with me?

I'll help you out a little:

The average American woman is 5'4" tall and weighs 140 pounds.

inch-aweigh.com/dietstats.htm

Can you provide the same for Polish women?

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

Mine is from a legit weight loss program and is showing that there is no exact number because all people havn't been weighted, it's an estimate.

so what is mine PB? Are you saying that Pulsmed isn't legit?

Then you're saying that it's an estimate (your words) so how is yours more convincing than mine?

AMericans who are obese as expected to rise.

You said, I'm in denial, lol Look at yourself, you're constantly denying that your country is facing the same problems. All I'm saying is that you guys are catching up and it's true. I never said that we have less fat people here.

You said that Europeans are on their way, as if any day now they'll be as heavy. When in fact 20% of obese Poles and 34% of Americans is a major difference.

I said that you guys are catching up and your numbers are going up too. Whether there will be ever the same percentage of fat people in Europe as it is in the US, is simply impossible for any of us now to determine. The time will show. I say, we'll stay ahead of you for a long while but I also believe that the numbers will be closing in at some point in time. Don't worry, we won't live long enough to see it, probably.

Don't believe what you read from the first better source

so why would I believe what your "first better source" says? C'mon PB, why do you think that your source is better than mine?

Where does it say that your article has to be right no other one!??
Just because it favor your denial that this is by far the fattest country.

and vice versa PB, yours doesn't convince me either.

Go back and see what I said about it before you come to any conclusions.
I clearly said that we have more fat people here than any European country. Show me, where did I deny it?

Your problem is that you're totally blind in your patriotism. I love my country too but I never said that everything is great here as nothing is perfect anywhere.

Guesswho thought

yep and PB thought, Poles don't have any problems with obesity, right?
Again "co czwarty Polak i co piąta Polka są otyli", this is in Polish PB. This is not some kinda anti Polish propaganda. You guys are catching up !!!

Those are exaggerated stats

PB, are you saying that Poles are exaggerating? lol C'mon, you don't believe it yourself. Why do you think I posted a Polish link? Because I assumed that you're gonna believe your own people before anyone else as I know how much you love Poland.

Going on a break.

Europeans, on average, tend to be thinner.

PP, you didn't pay attention to what was said and posted here earlier. Again, they're catching up fast.

Food is a lot more expensive there too though (vs real wages).

undeniable fact. Who knows how fat Europeans would be right now if their food was as cheap as ours, let's say 30 years ago.

You allow yourself to get that fat .. you did that to yourself. No one else's fault and now you've got to pay for it.

Half truth in my eyes. I blame the system too since it's responsible for our way of life. This is why I always scream for radical changes in the US, we need discipline here. Staying fit is a part of it.

Well, good clarification.. but it's still disgusting in my opinion.

As long as you'll say that it's disgusting in general, not just here ...

over 30% of Americans are obese, 2/3rd are overweight. There's a difference

did you read the Polish text too, I repeat again: "co czwarty Polak i co piąta Polka są otyli".

You are catching up my friend. PB, you know I like you and I respect your patriotism but please don't get yourself blinded by it.

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

2/3 Americans are overweight

according to your own link:

30.6 USA (almost 1/3 of Americans, not 2/3)
23.0 UK
22.4 Slovak Rep. (your neighbors)
11.4 Poland

I never said that there are more fat people in Poland than here but I'm telling you again, you guys are catching up whether you like it or not.

"W Polsce, niestety, jest podobnie: co czwarty Polak i co piąta Polka są otyli. Znaczenie problemu otyłości potęguje dodatkowo fakt, że dotyczy ona coraz to młodszych ludzi, w tym także dzieci, np.: w Polsce liczba 'puszystych' dzieciaków wzrosła o co najmniej kilkanaście procent."

pulsmed.com.pl

A Polish link because you might not believe what Americans write about it.

I know why you thin I exercise? lol

because you told me that

Yes but what is fat in Europe is chubby here.

you can call it what you want, the end result is the same.

Besides Poland I've also been to Germany and Denmark the fattest people in Europe don't even come close to some of folks in the US

not true. Maybe you just didn't stay long enough in Europe to see it. I do agree with you that we still have more fat people than the European countries but as I said earlier, you guys are catching up.

I'm not fat Guesswho u saw my pics lol. I'm 230 lbs. at 6'6 the BMI says i should be 220 but at my height it's hardly noticeable, plus i exercise.

I didn't say you're fat, I said that if you eat slowly and exercise , you're gonna stay slim :-)

We French eat

PB, why do you think I provided that link? I did it to show you that French are catching up, slowly but surely. I've been to France many times when I lived in Germany, there are many fat people too.

It's not really what we eat here (not only anyway) that makes us fat but mainly our way of life. Everyone is getting fat nowadays, you guys (Poles) too. I can easily provide links to support what I just said.
