History / Weapons of WWII (Poland and other countries) [239]

The weapons were good, but the leaders were morons! At the end of the day it's the soldier on the ground using the weapons who wins the battle. My conclusion is that the best weapon in World War 2 was the squaddie, in the case of WW2 - the Allies.

Panzerschreck:

I think it means something like 'Tank Terror' or 'Tank Killer' either way this is what i call a 'boomstick!!!' Tanks are tough but take one of these in the wrong place and its of to the tank heaven in the sky

This was simply a copy of the American made Bazooka - the Germans copied the specification exactly.

I think they were an American invention.

A not-well-known **************** British WW2 weapon was the Welrod sometimes called the Assasin's Pistol. This was a silenced pistol used by special forces and resistance groups. It was designed to be used point-blank and was a real man-stopper.

The tank on its own is worth a mention we invented it, shame we didnt build a superior one.

I think we made up for that with the Challenger 2 - In my opinion the best modern tank in the world!

Sorry to say it but the Germans did a real job with the V-1 and V-2 rockets, nicknamed Doodlebugs. They caused havoc and were very advanced compared to anything the allies had to play with.

These things flew fast & high and could not be shot down. Apparently the most frightening thing about them was the droning noise they made - as soon as the noise stopped, it was time to run away!
