Life / Going to Poland in a hijab - Polish people and Islam [154]

Its probably about as logical as saying that because im catholic i would send some of my profits to Radio Maryja

I can't imagine anyone willing to sit out in the cold carpark selling kebabs in February would then willingly fork it over to some mullah sitting a few thousand miles away in the sunshine

Life / Going to Poland in a hijab - Polish people and Islam [154]

God knows what working Poles will eat if they ban kebabs - i see kebab vans in every town - yesterday i was in a tiny village in Podlaski and there was a kebab stand with a queue there

News / Poland versus Greece in economy [175]

I agree default might be the best solution but in a managed way. Saying screw you will just ensure that nobody ever lends them money again and nobody will ever invest there again.

If that happens it wont just be Poland overtaking then - Macedonia will probably be richer than Greece too.

Real Estate / A tenant in Warsaw asked to leave [3]

Yes if your contract is until the end of the month you have every right to stay there. There is very little the landlord can do about it.

News / Poland's economic future? [294]

I know that long division is difficult but you need to take into account that Sweden has 4 times less people so the GDP per head is4x that if Poland. Just like, at a guess Poland and say Philippines probably have a similar GDP but your average Pole is much richer than your average Filipino.

Growth rates in mature economies are always lower than in emerging economies because there is a higher base - in fact in dollar terms then the increase of 1 percent for a Swedish citizen would be similar to the increase of 4.6 for a Pole.

News / Poland's economic future? [294]

dominionpost.com/Mobile/News

Here are the court reports from one week from one town in West Virginia. It's a very heavily white county, in the most trump voting state in the union.

What you will see is two murders, one sexual assault, one assault on police, one kidnapping, various drug convictions, and on the front page of this journal and enormous opiod problem.

That is about as relevant and as representative as keep posting dubious links about some kids in Morocco abusing a donkey.

If you're so worried about these things, it's always an option you stay put there in Illinois . You can still get Polish culture by folk dancing and pierogi somewhere on Milwaukee Avenue And you won't have to worry about being a few hundred K from any migrants.

Dirk the number of murders by whites in the US is multiple times the terrorist muders in Europe. It is obvious that violent death is far more common in the US, even in nice towns, than in the most dangerous parts of Europe.

You can view the hate speech laws with contempt- i dont much like them either. But they do exist, have been implemented by democratic govts right left and centre in Europe and if you want to live in one of those countries then they should be respected just like speed limits or laws on smoking weed.

There is in fact a long tradition in the US of disgruntled and alienated whites masscacring people indiscriminately - in cinemas, discos, in McDonalds, at school, at music festivals, sports events, college campuses etc etc.

Hate speech is very clearly defined in many legal lexicons. Most countries of the EU have such laws on the statue books. It is also clearly defined by the Council of Europe. The one people who didn't make a hate speech law were the slave owners of 18th century Virginia who probably didn't anticipate Facebook or social media trolls.

You arguments about crime in Sweden and Germany have been rebutted on many occasions by their governments - the Swedish government even made a special page because they were sick of right-wing trolld using those arguments.

As has been pointed out before there are also significant increases in crime in countries following Polish immigration - it was a long and boring useless thread about it in the UK for example

You don't seem to have solutions to the problem apart from moaning about immigrants. The German and Swedish government were reacting to this in their own ways - both of them have been through elections since this time.

Real Estate / Inheritance law in Poland - My brother refuses to share profit from apartment sale [8]

Re his right to live there you must see a lawyer unless something was specified in your parents will. But it's better to sort it out with your brother in a human way first. As Dom says there is no way people here will know all the background.

He can't be forced by law to buy you out - he probably does not have cash to do that and limited access to credit.

Work / What is the average accounting/auditing salary in Poland? [42]

Even if you earned 50k euro in Warsaw you would have a very comfortable life, be able to save and given Polands low tax rate you might not be so worse off.

But rather than ask here a much more sensible approach is to discuss with a recruiter in your current town about the market there or think of where you would like to live - most places are short of accountants and your employers are being cheeky by wanting your skills for less money (you mamy have some experience they cant find in Warsaw).

News / Poland's economic future? [294]

Well said Maf - who can possibly want to rip up Poland's most beautiful and best known asset. Even if it did create jobs then life is about more than that - we are not the only creatures on earth and we have to share it. I would have thought people who preach about Christian values would understand that.

Law / Polish immigration law - permanent residence euro cit [4]

Are your lawyers clear on what are you looking to achieve ? You want a right to stay after Brexit or is this a tax question ? Question title includes Euro CIT but then does not mention them again

What did you pay U.K. tax on ?

You could not avoid Polish tax just by sitting watching tv - if it's more than 183 days you must file a tax return in Poland

Law / Probate laws in Poland - banking data access and money transfer [6]

If he is compus mentus enough to give the details then can he maybe make a transfer while he is still alive ? Would still potentially be gift tax payable but would be quicker, create some facts on the ground, better cash flow and definitely save lawyers fees.

But using his passwords etc is very ill advised

Work / What is the average accounting/auditing salary in Poland? [42]

Not sure what kind of role you are in but if its booking, bank recs etc then thats about right. If its something more complicated like reporting or consolidation then with French i think 10k would be more like it.

Certainly it would not be 14-15k - for that price i would employ a smart Pole and teach them French

There is a huge shortage worldwide of French soeaking accountants at senior levels but not sure what tyoe of work you are doing.

Real Estate / Expatriate mortgages + Property in Poland [24]

I dont think its illegal but just goes against the knf rules - and following the rules is a pre-requisite for keeping your banking license.

Of course if you want a loan to buy a shopping mall or an airport then EUR loans are available !

If buying a house then maybe wait for PolishInvestor to comment but my view is they are very illiquid- most people who can afford one like to build to their own spec which usually means too many bathrooms and a huge ugly fence

Real Estate / Expatriate mortgages + Property in Poland [24]

You will find it almost impossible to get either a PLN mortgage or term loan if neither of you earn in zloty.

An important reason for this is that banking regulation forces the banks to make 100 percent, sometimes 150 percent provision in their books when such a loan is issued. So for the guy issuing the loan, there is no motivation as he will not show any profit for the year.

Your best bet might be to buy a smaller flat for cash and trade up when you are more established and earning in PLN.

Note also that as a non EU citizen buying a house still might require a permit (for flatsit does not). You could buy in your girlfriends name but the normal risks apply and it might be an idea to put a ring on it if you are serious.

If you go for a house be very clear that all media are connected and working and be wary about buying sonewhere with no asphalt road - it can take many years for new roads to be finished and a decade down the line you might be taking your kids to school on a bumpy track that makes you nostalgic for Somalia !

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

Yes you could ask WWIi survivors if the Nazis were better than the Soviets but you cant ask the massacred school teachers of Bydgoszcz or the hospital patients of Koscian wheeled out on to the street to be shot by the SS.

Its really a bit trite to talk about the lesser of two evils - it was a crazy time in history when dictatorship was seen as preferable to democracy. That is why the current wave of mini Putins is so dangerous

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

Mass killings of Polish intellectuals and hospital patients by the Nazis started in September 1939. The number of victims is higher than Katyn but in any case it is not about numbers but about sick ideology of totalitarian rulers and their willing followers.

The last people who witnessed those events will all be dead in 5-10 years. After that it will probably be open season on the truth (as it is now with the Armenian genocide.

Work / The big step: moving to Warsaw and taking everything with me to Poland [4]

Someone else can answer the rest of your questions but re your limited company then you cannot convert the Belgian entity into a Polish entity. You would have to liquidate it and then start a new Polish entity, which given the small scale of the business seems a big hassle.

You would pay Belgium corporate income tax on your companies earnings, and then tax on any dividends you pay to yourself would attract Polish tax of 19 percent.

History / Polish hatred towards Jews... [1290]

I think its now 8 years since Labour was in power. Surely its the current government who has the duty to look after its Jewish citizens ?
