Hey guys, I own a similar but legal business registered in Poland, Kinowdomku.com. Right now I have DVDs and some video games and am working on getting streaming rights for TVN, FOX, etc.

It is more like Netflix and Lovefilm and is monthly. Take a look and let me know what you think. All advice is appreciated. New members are appreciated more ;)

I am also including a 20% off coupon code for Polishforums members.

Life / What is wrong with Poznan? [197]

I couldn't pass up this topic. What is wrong with Poznan? I couldn't believe reading that because Poznan is my favorite city in Poland and one of my favorite in the world. But after reading all the posts I wonder how it got to be a discussion about med school.

But anyway, the traffic light button thing seems like a silly statement. Almost everywhere in the world has buttons. As someone else wrote it is to give time to cross the street since car traffic and pedestrian traffic do not always coincide.

And then the tram tickets, really? Poznan is not the best place I have ever been for automatic machines but it is far from the worst. For years they have had the automatic machines in the rynek and train station, and then almost all shops sell them. If it is so difficult for you try buying one or two extra ahead of time. It makes it much easier. And for comparison I currently live in Szeged, Hungary. There is only one automatic machine in the city and buying tickets is very difficult(plus 3 times as expensive as a Poznan ticket). I have been caught twice in Budapest going from the train station to the airport because there are no automatic machines or shops. The city knows that there is no where to purchase a ticket from these two points so they can make great money with fines. So Poznan is far from bad.

But I guess everyone has different experiences. I disagree with all the negatives that you have posted. I love the Poznan people(especially the women) and have always had a good time. The rynek is beautiful and fun. I have no complaints after living there for a year. It beats out the 3 months I lived in Warsaw by far and the 6 months I lived in Krakow by a decent amount.

Law / Help advertising and finding a merchant account in Poland, billboard costs. [2]

Hello everyone. I have an online business in Poland and would like to know if anyone understands the advertising sheets for arbonetwork, gazeta, echomiasta, etc. The pricing sheets make no sense to me.

arbonetwork.pl/internet_cennik.php
echomiasta.pl/pdf/cenniki_reklamy/_1__Katowice_modul.pdf
bi.gazeta.pl/im/0/8760/m8760290.pdf

Gazetas is the best but what is a billboard that costs 80000? Is that for one day? The other companies price sheets I do not understand at all. I sent them emails in English but of course I got no replies. I will write to them on Monday in Polish but I wanted to know if anybody has experience with advertising in Poland or can explain the pricing to me.

I am also looking for a merchant account to accept payment on my website. I need a company that does recurring billing. Currently I have paypal, which is the only company I have found that does recurring payment, but I do not like them. I have heard allegro is good but I do not know if I can use them on my website or only on Allegro. I have checked ecard, platnosci, and dotpay and none of them do recurring billing. Is it even possible to do recurring billing on bank transfers? How to Polish subscription companies collect payments?

Sorry for all the questions but it is hard to get information from any of the government offices here.

Language / What is a good English/Polish online translation company [11]

That's sound advice and free. Thanks for it. So the interface and common buttons are taken care of, so now I need the more detailed translations and emails. I am doing a lovefilm, netflix thing. Online DVD and video game rental and perhaps also get into selling if I can figure out the Polish laws for it.

Language / What is a good English/Polish online translation company [11]

I am looking for an online translation company that does a good job for a business website. I have been using my Polish friends that speak English well for translations, but speaking is not the same as translating. I get 4 different translations for what I consider one simple phrase. It seems that the tenses are the problem. For example, "Sort by Title", I have "Przyporządkuj wg" and "Porządkuj wg"

So back to my original question. Does anyone know of a company that does good business translations?
