News / Are Polish People Being Discriminated Against? Problems getting a US visa. [258]

for a consolation prize

in case you could not tell I was being sarcastic. Poland if you follow its track record has a tendency to be screwed over by its allies. No kidding they won't be put on the VWP.

I am sure it makes up a portion of the economy

Thanks Shawn, that's what I meant to say.

News / Are Polish People Being Discriminated Against? Problems getting a US visa. [258]

The rejection rate is high because of people abusing the system, I know a few from my home town who came here on tourist visa and never left. Poland will be added to the VWP(visa waiver program) when the rejection rate hits 10% its 14% last I checked. There have been a few Senators who introduced legislation to get Poland on the VWP, it just now need Obamas seal of approval.

Maybe if they don't put the missile shield in Poland, for a consolation prize they will put it on the VWP

There should be balance in mutual international relations. If USA demands
visas from Polish citizens, we should also introduce visa system for Americans.

While I agree unfortunately that's not the answer, many Poles in the US have family in Poland and travel there in the summer. The Polish economy is dependent on the American tourism. Issuing visas to Americans would greatly reduce the number of tourist spending money in Poland. The Polish government won't show their teeth to their new masters.

History / POLISH MEMORIES OF CHERNOBYL...April 26th 1986 [32]

Chernobyl was an accident ready to happen. It had no containment building like the US based plants. Does any one remember if the scientists in charge if the "experiment" were Ukrainian or Russian?

They run tours over there now- Is there a group in Poland that organizes a trip to go to Chernobyl? I've been trying to do this for some time now but I always get side tracked.

History / Why will Poland always be the puppet of America? [159]

Hmmm.... alone and unarmed.... Which Poland are you talking about?

The Poland you live in.
Post Cold War relic hardware make up the military. The most the advanced systems come bought from the Americans which are F-16F that are obsolete by American standards and were sold to Poland over priced, without advanced avionics, advanced radar and weapons guidance systems. Some old fatigued C-130 transport planes, a small number of special forces, no nuclear, chemical, or biological deterrents etc, etc,.

In case your still hoping on Polands "allies" helping out, just ask your EU buddies how many are willing to fight and die on behalf of Poland; not many I'm sure, if they answered honestly. Your best bet is to hope America does not remove its bases from Europe, its been keeping the leash on Germany and its guns on Russia. If Poland was to be attacked just look at Georgia. They are allies of America, NATO bound and what did bad-ass George Bush do? Shake his finger at Putin at the Olympics. Good Luck.

Here are some stats from the CIA on your military strength. If a conventional war occurs you might last 8 weeks at best w/o external help.

History / Why will Poland always be the puppet of America? [159]

Poland was Russia's puppet for about seventy years, now it would have been Americas had only McCain won the election. Obama does not care for Poland as he wishes to mend fences with "Old Europe".

After World War II the world was divided into spheres of influence that were either dominated by the US or Russia. Countries like Poland and several others were divided amongst the two.

Now in a unipolar world we find countries like Poland going over to the "other side" so to speak; but as history dictates Poland is always left alone by its allies to fend for itself. Nato or America only want to encircle Russia to show that, "Hey, Ivan we won the cold-war; you listen to us now".

With a moron president and an empty suit prime minister, and a sheeple populaces its clear to see why Poland is in the situation its in. All alone and unarmed.

Study / American Muslim girl thinking to go to Medical school in Poland... [87]

Just an observation, do you plan to return to Africa and practice medicine? Or do you intend to eventually practice in the united states?

Check with the accreditation board in Lodz to see if your degree is accepted in other parts of the world. US accreditation is universally accepted; but very expensive.

What I've noticed from other people when I was in architecture school getting my masters(in the US) many already had there masters, only it was not worth anything. They had to do a supplementary courses (a second masters program) that lasted two years.

I don't know if med school works the same way, but I would definitely find out.
My niece is thinking about going to Lodz and I hear people give it bad reviews.

On the traditional clothing if you must wear a head scarf, think about a wing, like some of the girls in France do; and some more "western" like dresses you won't stand out in a crowd as much. Mental midgets like the skinheads are only looking for people like you to bother; they don't pick on the Marius Pudzianowski crowd.

Good Luck.
