Law / Exchanging a foreign / international driver's license to Polish ... [12]

(I'm sorry I posted the same question in the wrong place!)

I still have my home country's driver's license valid (Brazilian) and also have the American valid, but none of them are International.
Is it possible to get the Polish one without having to go through all the tests? Somebody told me once he had his home country's driver's license expired and because of this he had to go through all the process, besides paying the price for it, thousands of PLN.

So would I be able to get my Polish license easier? I do have the residence permit.

My Brazilian license expires in August 2011 and the American, in November 2012.
If I still can use the American, even though it's not my home country, could I use until almost is expired and then get the Polish one?

Food / 'Shortening' is used for baking and stuff [14]

Thank you for the answers!? Do you know if those brands are white or yellow? It's for cake decorating so I need to know the color, as they can interfere on the white color decoration.

Anyways, I'm gonna check in the supermarket today :)

It's used for baking and stuff... in the USA the most famous is CRISCO
I recently arrived in Poland and have no idea the name of this and I need it...
I know Tluszcz is fat, but I want to know this specific type of fat used in baking goods.

Law / Karta Pobytu interview... what do they ask? [12]

Thanks for all the answers! I'm glad to read I shouldn't be worried about it :)
The only thing I'm not sure is if they told us it must be a sworn translator... I think they told us it could be anybody we know, as long as the person is not from our family. We know somebody, but I'll double check if it can be anyone.

Law / Karta Pobytu interview... what do they ask? [12]

My husband (Polish citizen) and I will have the Karta Pobytu interview next month and we are wondering what type of questions they ask.

We got married in the USA and we've been married for almost 3 years.

They didn't tell me to take any papers to the interview, but should I take any just to be on the safe side? such as pictures and papers to proof relationship and stuff? I have no idea what this interview would be like.

Law / Is it possible to open a home based bakery in Poland? [14]

Thank you all for the answers. They gave me an overview of the situation and lots to think about. lol

Why not go to all the cake shops in the town and ask them if you could work for them decorating cakes. Take with you examples of your work.

We thought about it, but my Polish is still close to zero, so I don't know if I can find a generous soul that would hire me and let me make their cakes in their place with almost no communication lol Unless I could find a cake shop where somebody speaks a little of English. Doing it from home (or my registered and licensed place) would be easier because my husband would be responsible for taking the orders, and I would just make the cakes based on his translation until I'm able to talk to the clients by myself. As for the cake shops, my husband could not be with me the whole time lol

We'll see... as I said, lots to think about... Thank you so much for the tips!

Law / Is it possible to open a home based bakery in Poland? [14]

I'm a cake decorator and would like to take orders from home as I used to do in the USA. My husband is Polish and I'm waiting for Karta Pobytu (so, let's supposed I get it, just so I know what to do with my cakes :)) So, is there such a thing as home based business (bakery in my case) in Poland? Do I need any food handling license? If yes, where do I get it? Do I have to register it as a small (tiny lol)company?

I forgot to mention that I know very little Polish, so my husband would help me with all the paper work and translations until I'm able to communicate by myself. I'm hoping this won't be a problem to get approved in anything...
