Life / Russian citizen wants immigrate to Poland [39]

@pawian
Ukrainians had a lot more reason to emigrate yet a lot of them stayed until recently. I can see a lot of Russians emigrating now, especially those with contacts to Ukraine or information of what is happening there. I am thinking mostly of the young population

Life / Political correctness in Poland [210]

Positive thing in Poland: you can laugh about political correctness
Downside: You have to read utter gibberish from certain people

Law / Changing the name on a Polish passport [6]

I recommend "updating" it. Not change it per say. It would seem like you want them to have correct information and just changing from personal motives

Avatars - The mere picture on somebody's profile makes it much easier to remember someone. Instead of "Oh ye it's that guy with a text (like everyone else)"

Life / What do decent Poles think about true rightists ? [148]

@Dirk digger
Poland is more diverse then you think, just not in the A4 blueprint you imagine it.
You honestly think Poles today only have ancestry of West Slavic tribes? That there aren't dozens of different local customs throughout Poland?

@pawian
Indeed EU is keeping the peace, but aren't you even a bit worried about who is controlling steering wheel? If an undemocratic elite of no background drive themselves by an ideology that tried to destroy Poland. I very much hope they are kept on their toes.

You seem pretty oblivious to the right side of politics wish to resurrect aspects of the second Polish Republic. So I can only understand your post either inflammatory or downright something that ancient Greeks called people that have no understanding of politics

Life / What do decent Poles think about true rightists ? [148]

@pawian
Not entirely, I am pretty much against abortion (life or death situations is when I tolerate laws/state/Police to intervene. Otherwise I am very anti state. Like, I am not happy about people talking about their sexuality all the time or making a big deal out of it. Bad manners, not an interesting topic and perverse (simply put stupid). But beating up people for being stupid or jailing them? Not so sure. In Britain it wasn't alliert being homosexual and either tortured by medicine (enforced by state) or excecuted. Which is why I understand why all this nonsense is happening in the west, especially Lutheran countries.

So in Polish politics I take a more anti-gay stance, cause I am less afraid that Polish politicians will go overboard then for instance conservatives or rightside in U.S.A or U.K.

I am open to immigration, I have a very capitalistic outlook on it. And what Poland&Poles are doing by welcoming Ukrainians to Poland for work shows the great soul of the Polish nation, especially despite WW2 experiences.

Opening borders to massive immigration from Africa and Asia is a mistake in my opinion. Smaller scale immigration yes. But big immigration I would be careful with. Especially if voulenteer organizations struggle to keep up.

I am also more Liberal then right wing when it comes to other people's opinion. I am very pragmatic during conversations. I can totally disagree with someone but, still listen if I might learn something. I have only had one situation where one in a political disucussion made me think of him as a monster and quit talking.

I think the main problem with many on the right side of (left as well) is that one is quick to judge and lock yourself out of a discussion. Good example is the name calling between pawian and Ironside.

In Polish politics I wish there was some capitalist party present that had a chance of adding anything to the table.
I see somewhat PO as social-Democrat's trying to be social-liberal and are mostly able to portray themselves as corrupt due to scandals.

PiS seems to be very state supporting&state building. It seems nationalist in the sense of building up the Polish state, but with 500+ and other socialist like promises it gives me shivers.

So I put them as socially conservative social-democrats. With a strong patriotic flavor.

Two main parties seem to have a lot influenced by PRL in how a state should be run, which makes me angry, sad and pessimistic.

On the other hand there are right wing media growing independently and many young are on the right side of politics in Poland.
Hopefully the young generation will emphasize Catholicism to a larger degree then Slavic race or culture per say.

Among authoritarian and radical nationalists I think you are spot on. However I consider myself a Liberalny-Narodowiec and can only agree with nr.1 for myself. As long as EU keeps being a free market enterprise I love it. But any involvement in local politics and intervention in member states is disturbing.

I find that many being on the right side of the political spectrum don't want to associate with Polish "Narodowcy" even tho they might be politically closest simply cause of propaganda.

I had a very negative view on any form of nationalism until I read about it. Especially about Narodowcy from II RP

News / Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet? [1530]

Dougpol1
1. I didn't see any rascist banners
2. There were slogans like "na drzewach nie będzie liści, bo będą wisieć komuniści" ;)
3. There were flares&fireworks

I don't know what you expect but, there are few ways to celebrate independence by non-state organisations in Poland cause of PRL. Now it's a time to celebrate it without having to think about politics. The more the media tries to politicize it, makes only people mad. Please don't fall in to that trap

News / Polonophobia rising in Israel. [144]

Most populations are very prone to state owned media as it sets the narrative for the country to follow. The more state run jobs. The more important it is to be updated on it and follow it.

History / Silesia to Czechia [54]

Wasn't Bohemia part of the HRE?

Anyways Why on earth would Poland give back Western parts of Poland? What is there in Belarus/Ukraine that could be gained? Not much except tax payers and agricultural land. Poland exports food so... it's not that necessary to gain.

Even so, both Poland and Czech Republic are part of the EU...

You to paint you a little picture
(Sorry to all if I come out as rude today, I was playing cards and lost. Working out how to deal with it)

If your Polish then I am an Inuit

As somebody made a good simplification, for me Jesus Christ is the path to the devine. Focusing solely on Jesus Christ I would say is a good influence in gaining more sheep. A good shephard should also help out his brothers and sisters.

Catholics in Poland are fortunate to live in Good times. Even tho forces of evil lurks around us still.

Genealogy / Angela Merkel is partially Polish. Her family name could be Kaźmierczak [208]

Dependent on the flag BB
I don't think many Poles have anything against Germany's current flag (Democratic one)

It's the König/Keiser/Junker/National-Socialist type flag that hurts the eyes the most.

Why shouldn't Germany be proud of it's current flag? What countries has it invaded while waving it? Germany's achievements after ww2 are remarkable, I see no reason to downplay it.

Patriotic=//= militaristic

Problem is if it escalates, new German settlers along vistula river and questioning property rights in former German lands is only a matter of time.

Poland should prepare for a wave of Germans settling down in Poland. ASAP if the road continues this way. If AFD comes to power and rightwingers gain foothold in more European countries then Poland will have an increase of European settlers. Only thing stopping them is the European media portraying (thankfully) Poland in a bad light.

Good to hear from you Ironside

When it comes to Norway, it is pretty calm compared to Sweden. There are immigrant areas but not, no-go zones. Norwegian Police can be very harsh even towards native Norwegians, Norway is very conservative towards drugs (including alcohol).

FRP - which is «National Liberal» Even tho it has a more socialist streak for the past 10 years, is most active about asylum seekers and integrating minorities (including Poles, which is a tragedy as many lose touch with the Polish language).

The social control is very strict as scandinavian countries don't have that much of a large population.

Openess and tolerance (of homosexuals mostly, any "openess" towards non-western/non-European looks very fake and forced from my perspective) is quite mainstream and the norm to adhere to. Anything outside the box might get you branded as a fascist. So I predict the extremes will only grow, especially on the left as I followed the elections

Genealogy / Slavs are descendants of Sarmatians? [600]

Crow you don't seem to get it do you? Ever heard of the Legend about Smok Wawelski? About that Shoemaker? Not some almighty St. george? If Religion is so damn annoying to you

In Christian symbolism it was about St. George slaying his inner dragon (Inner demon so to speak) and being able to sacrifice himself for Christ (cause he died for his faith). Do you think Poles died for their faith or not? Throughout centuries? No matter how big or small an enemy was. It's a never ending story. Which I guess for you as a Serbian can relate to

Which slavic people stll feel connection with sarmats? Serbs? How? Why? Think of St. George and tread carefully not to open your mouth too much ;)
