News / "Poland is flourishing" [62]

true.. just like how they say China will overtake USA's economy in the near future.. but even if China has $1million GDP more than USA, divide it by their enormous population(1.3+billion, about 1Billion MORE than the US) and you will see how "rich" they are ;)

News / Polish people humiliated in the latest episode of Family Guy [51]

I'm half-polish and I wasn't offended. This is pretty much family Guy, they make fun of anything, everyone, anytime! I watched all seasons and I had my laughs(hell even at stereotypical polish jokes!), but what surprised me more is the reaction you guys took to a non-registered user with a name "polock". get back to anti-troll 101 guys! The more you react, the more they are gonna want, hence the more it's gonna go against yourself. :)

News / Poland is important in the global economy crisis? [33]

So ... they were offered it and said no. Then don't complain 60-odd years later you didn't get it.

see

The history of these negotiations concerning the Marshall Plan was controlled by Polands' overlords, the Soviets.

News / POLISH CHILD ABUSING A CAT.. [74]

thenews.pl/national/artykul146475_cat-tormentor-taken-to-court.

Police have identified the author of a video, circulating on the web, showing a child tormenting a cat. The shocking video was shot by a 15 year old from Krakow, while the cat tormentor was his three-year-old brother. The teenager, who will face trial in a juvenile court, uploaded his controversial film on a popular website, causing an uproar.

"The film outraged many web surfers, who reacted immediately notifying the police in various parts of the country," Katarzyna Padlo from the press office of the southern Malopolska police force told the PAP news agency.

Police officers have already talked to the 15 year old. The film footage will be handed over to the family and juvenile court, which will take further actions.

Cats and dogs found in the flat occupied by the boy's family have been taken to an animal shelter, Padlo added. (kk/jb)

It's easy to conclude that the child did not what he was doing since he's older brother was teaching him "it's ok to do this/that" so ya it's pretty much the 15 year old's fault.

I've seen the video on Youtube and the 15 year old was pointing and directing his brother to do the horrific things to the cat.

Travel / Internet for 1 month in Kraków? [11]

MichaelG

Thx for the Info m8 :D

well, my original plans of asking GHnet to get me internet for a month didn't work out as planted, since it has something to do with Mafias (meaning b ASTER controls the Internet Cable in my building bloc A.K.A Monopoly) so i did some research and in the end.. with a lil help from an ol friend.. got internet with the Plus company.. the 7.2mbps card for 50zł/month... now the 3GB included ain't much.. but i guess i'll leave my heavy downloads for internet cafes(also if i need an extra Gig at home i guess 25zl ain't too bad). so i guess it ain't a bad fix :)

thx for the help every1 :]

Hello everyone,

last week i arrived to Poland to stay for a month and so far everything has been great :)

however there is one little problem i'm having n i need some suggestions/advice

i remember once i heard about one Company who offers internet connections without any long-term contracts but i seem to have forgotten the name/links to it :/

i mean.. sure i can go to Hotspots and Internet cafes(which where im writing from now lol) but i need to stay connected at night... so can any1 please help me with this

Polonia / Polish tourists in The Philippines [12]

i've actually visited Philippines in 2006 Summer,, first time i arrived there at night.. it looked like a seriously poor country,.. and i was actually thinking about returning back to Lebanon the same day(then... a war broke out :P) so i was kinda lucky lol ... once i got near the centre.. i saw the Skyrises,, and i changed my mind.. i said i would manage in a City area.. was nice... i remember when i was with my dad.. every street we walked.. there would be tons of people screaming "Welcome SIR" "Good day SIR" "SIR" "SIR" "SIR".. even Taxis would beg you to ride in em .. but the Taxis are pretty Damn cheap.. the Maximum you can pay is $2!!!!.. but yet.. you can see alot of People begging for money.. but if you get yourself to the Tropical Islands of Boracay.. it's a Different place.. the Beaches are simple Amazing!!!

and i remember when i experienced my first Typhoon!! holly Mother of@!@!@ one moment its all clear.. the second SECOND! Raining like HELL!! streets were flooded.. and the Winds are blowing like ****.... the power at the hotel was down for an hour.

in an all Conclusion,. if you wanna go there for Vacation... its nice to visit the Tropical Islands and some other Attractions.. but i wouldn't live there.

USA, Canada / Getting a VISA to USA by a Polish person nowadays [339]

did we miss something? o.O

seems like the Visa requirement rate has been decreased to only 3% now!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

>> "For these reasons, it seemed that the visa refusal rate would soon naturally fall below the required 10% percent and further negotiations between Polish and U.S. officials would not even be necessary.

However, starting July 1, the required rate will be reduced to 3%, making it much harder for Poland to reach the goal.

"This change is a consequence of a bizarre compromise reached by supporters and opponents of the expansion of the VWP in Congress as part of the 'Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007,'" explains Pawel Kotowski, a counselor at the Polish Embassy in Washington, DC.

"The required rate can now only be increased back to 10% if the U.S. manages to install biometric air exit systems which will register all the passengers leaving the U.S.by air, a system now only used upon arrival to the U.S. These two things seem to be entirely independent, but that's how the Congress wrote the law," Kotowski said. " <<

---------------------------------------------------------------------- --------

well.. they said the refusal rate in 2007 was 25%, then it Sharply dropped to 13.8% in 2008(look at the site)... so theres a good chance it might be = / >10% this year BUT... i guess we might have to wait longer if they don't make an agreement to install "biometric air exit systems"

again.. this is a bad time for Poland i guess :/ so close to 10% then they lower it to 3%

and here's a nice quote, same ol saying :/

"Some, like Senator Barbara Mikulski (D.-Md.), proposed various pieces of legislation to include Poland in the VWP for its merits and its loyalty to America. But the VWP has many opponents who fear its expansion will make it easier for potential terrorists to enter the U.S."

News / Are Polish People Being Discriminated Against? Problems getting a US visa. [258]

well according to this: washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/18/poland-excluded-from-visa-waiver-list

"Mr. Kotowski said the refusal rate for Polish applicants was 25 percent last year but is now down to less than 14 percent. "

not sure if its accurate, but i can't find anything else. well if it was 25% in 2007 and 14% in 2008. then there's a chance it can go below 10% in 2009-2010(i think :/).
