Language / Some phrases for a training exercise? [4]
In a few days time, I will be taking part in a training exercise for Police hostage negotiators, and because I am learning Polish they have asked if I will play the role of a Polish person who is taken hostage. The situation will be, two men have broken into my house (the wrong house) looking for some drug dealers who owe them money, and taken my wife and I hostage. I will be speaking to real Police negotiators through a real Polish translator, so I have to try and sound genuine. I have been learning part-time for a couple of years, so my Polish is nowhere near fluent, but I can hold a simple conversation.
I need to find some phrases that I might need to say, so I sound as real as possible - e.g.
I don't know these men
They won't let me go
I don't know why they are here
Please help
I'm scared
What do you want me to do
etc etc
Can anyone think of anything else I could say? Imagine yourself in the situation - what would you be likely to say?
All help greatly appreciated...
