I use an internet tv company and pay a monthly fee. I get all the channels I need. UK, US and Canadian, Sports channels the lot. If you have more than 10GB speed then this would be enough to stream TV.

I was thinking of taking the story to the local newspapers.. we have two young kids.. building we live in is exposed, plastic covering the holes where the windows should be. May not get us our money back but would give them some free advertising.

I went to the Police and they took a statement. They mentioned that the company could be done for fraud, they said they would investigate.. I wonder though.

This company has also taken a lot of other peoples money too. We are not the only ones.. they are still doing business and every day they operate they have the opportunity to take other people's money.

Merged: Anyone got any experience dealing with a Polish company that won't return money to customer that it scammed?

Bit of a long story but the jist of it is this. We ordered windows from a company and paid 70% of the cost up front. The windows didn't arrive and the company owner told us that there had been delays and we would need to wait a further four weeks for delivery. Well this is of course possible so we waited the extra 4 weeks but then when we called on the day that the windows were to arrive the company owner told us that there were further delays because the manufacturer had moved it's production facilities. I called the company and they told us that they had not moved but that there were a lot of orders on-hold because the company that we ordered the windows from owed lots of money. We now need to take action.. We have been to the Police and the UOiKK. Next step I think is the courts...Newspapers? what do you think?

How many hectares will you grow on? Do you have machinery? It's a huge investment to become a farmer unless you have family already in the business. If you have less than 25 hectares it is not worth investing. Good agricultural land will cost you anything up to 80,000 per hectare depending on quality and location.

I too have Rosetta Stone and like it. I also write a load of words and comon phrases into a text book and try to learn a few of words per day, doesn't sound much but if you learn even three new words per day that's 21 per week that's 1092 words per year. Of course that is as well as doing the course. I also use Bussu.com as an application on my phone,. it doesn't need to be connected to the internet so if you don't have internet on your phone you can use it when out and about.

It will take years for you to communicate in Polish that is unless you do nothing else but learn it. It's hard and a lot of the words seem impossible to pronounce at the begining but you'll get there eventually. You will get there eventually, I've been here a little over two years, I can communicate and understand a load more than I can speak. Sometimes I think it's a good thing too, especially when you live in a village and all the natives want to do is talk about what the other villager did.. did you hear this did you hear that, blah blah blah.

Should've went to Holland instead mate, it's a Mecca for bicycles and most of the time you can get from A-B faster by bike than driving the car. A great country for bike lanes.

Don't think I would like to cycle in Poland, I have witnessed "how courteous" they are on the roads over there, think you would be playing Russian Roulette on a bike.

Thanks for the info Pantsless was surely an eye opener. I think i'll go through the pain of buying in Holland and go through the hassle to get the car registered. Rather that than spending £5,000 on a heap of junk.

Just going by what pantsless quoted : Duty - akczya: 3.8% of the car's value if the engine is under 2.0l, 18.6% if over. So what is this charge if not some kind of import duty?

Thanks for the information. Seems the Government in Poland are intent on screwing the people there every which way. Isn't it strange that Poland as an EU state charges duty on something that is brought in from another EU state? Also the fact that they are charge for an inspection knowing that the cars from other states are built to the same specification. The other thing that seems ridiculous is the 500zl recycling fee, do the government actually recycle cars or do private scrap yards and recycling companies do this for profit.

I can understand your frustration and I suppose I am in for a lot of that when I move there in December.. to be honest just after reading your post I am pretty pissed off already.

1. What do the Polish government charge for registration.
2. Are there any other costs? ( A family member bought an old trailer in Poland and had to pay tax on the purchase, which is weird.)

I think that Czech Republic is a better place for business, they have a more Western train of thought, English is spoken by most university educated people and they have a better trained work force especially in the engineering and IT Sectors.

One of the biggest problems with doing business in Poland is, you can never get a straight answer, the answer always depends on how much they think you can afford. For example I was looking to buy machinery lately therefore I emailed various companies in a few different countries as they had similar machinery. All but the Polish companies sent me immediately the prices of the machinery. The Polish companies sent me back a list of questions which I might add were altogether nothing to do with them. As of today, 5 days later, I am still waiting on prices for the machinery and of course at this point I shall no longer be purchasing. All Cloak and Dagger doing business in Poland.

Yes, I know that there may be a problem with the life of the engine.. not really worried about that, just want to know what the Polish Law says about using non-duty-paid-fuel in your car, but thanks for the tip.
