Actually, the rumour has it that it can be quite hard to get a Russian visa if applying in a country other than the country of your passport. Therefore, you just may be better off to apply in London.

Also, it's a very standard procedure to use a visa agency for Russian visas as it can get a bit complex dealing with their embassies. You should be able to find an agency easily in the UK. It shouldn't be too expensive but, of course, there is a fee for their services.

I'm in no way any expert as I'm a newcomer myself. But what really strikes is that you simply don't see many foreign looking people and especially Asian. For me everyone has been very welcoming and I don't think it has too much to do with that I'm a white European with zero local language skills. Normal people here are very friendly but some of them probably have seen different skin colour mostly on TV.

Alcohol is abundant but that you probably already know. (And I know drinking muslims, haha.) Do come here and don't be worried beforehand as there are idiots in any country. I've lived in a few countries in my life and people sometimes ask me how dare you. The answer is simple really, I can always be on the first flight back home if needed. So, no reason not to go.

It would be a lie to say you'll certainly have a great experience far from home but there's no reason why you wouldn't have. Come with an open mind and take it from there. Surely it'll be easy to make friends as a student compared to working life.

My god... Do NOT lose a PR in one of the better countries in the world. That would be simply madness.

It's permanent as long as you spend enough time in the country. It's not exactly uncommon. Of course, other countries grant PRs as well but you can't always expect to receive it just like that so why lose one extremely good one.

It doesn't bother me at all if some language schools are doing 'fake' advertising. Surely, it's a great idea and exactly what I'll do. Only been here from the start of the year but at some point after summer I'll go to a course. Let me know, if you know of any. It's probably even possible to find a girlfriend there as well.

What bothers me is that not everyone living abroad is an expat but for some reason many people think so. I'm just a guy from abroad and was sent by me and therefore I'm not an expat.

I took a subscription from UPC a few weeks ago with just my passport. It was a bit more expensive as it's "bez zobowiązania" meaning no fixed contract. I can just cancel it anytime with one month's notice.

Very fast and reliable connection, probably a bit overpriced for this country but everything went so smoothly that it doesn't bother me at all.

And don't believe any of that you need a PESEL. That's simply outdated information.

Haha, that's what I've heard that it really can depend on the employee. So, if someone refuses to serve you just go to another branch.

It seems that you're freelancing for a foreign company. If that's the case Poland's tax office is on absolutely no need to know basis. I just don't get this. You write a piece, send it abroad and you get paid. Why would you tell any of this to any Pole?
