OP was correct. I think the misunderstanding stems from Poles being Slavic and Germans not. To some Americans this makes Poles/Poland somewhat of a spin off from Russia.

I remember discussing this with my table in a Physics course in American University. I was the only one 100% something. Each individual was a different religion too: Muslim, Catholic, Athiest and Mormon.

IMO, if you have never stepped foot on the homeland you cannot consider yourself that ancestry. This is many times the case with Americans.

You do recognize the difference between Wikipedia & YouTUBE? Tube only censors clips that are viewed as breaking policy I.E. nudity, cursing or violence. Wikipedia has people to monitor articles with heavy traffic I.E. check out the *Talk* section. Wikipedia usually requires people to post evidence with their article edits. You think for example a British Encyclopedia is not bias? Or American or Russian? This is why for example the same article in English contains different content than the same article in Polish on Wikipedia

Outside of Chicago there are not many Polish communities. When I lived in San Diego, I met Poles thru the Catholic Church. Most Poles who immigrated to the USA do not return, unlike in Europe [distance/price to visit must be considered]. Which is why Poland is required Visa in the USA. But this also means many Poles are content with the American System: work = money = material things = work

In America you can be an immigrant but still an American. But otherwise you have to be Native. You could be British but not English.

Westeners are trapped in the moment and the current picture of Poland is that of an extremely homogenous and somewhat closed off nation. But in reality Poland has been liberal and it has also been conservative.

There is much truth to this. Their culture has turned foxy from Centuries of being the immigrant/minority.

But ultimately it is just a Religion and thus there is very little unity between Jews from different regions: Russian Jews-American Jews and of course Israeli's. Most times it seems the only similarity they share are those Ole Stories of suffering. Don't get me wrong Polska has also used this at times to circle the wagons but I believe we have moved past WW2. In 25 years, so will the anti-Russian Cold War generation.

The Globe has turned sour towards Jews because they are thriving and yet still beating the guilt drum.

But it's also cultural. IMO it's possible to be Capitalistic and also Homogenous but you are at a dis-advantage. Consider all the creative and driven homosexuals or feminists that relocate to the West. Russia does not really replace them with immigrants.

IMO Poland is somewhere in the middle for treatment of "non-Europeans". You won't be idolized like in Sweden but you won't be brawling like in the Balkans.

Poles respect and in many ways align with Turkish Conservative society [yes I know Turkey is considered secular in the ME]. Polish & Turkish men also share similarities, which IMO are the differences between us and Germans for example.

Beyond the random Bar fight late at night in a tough area on a special night, the worst treatment you will receive is people ignoring you. Hahah.
