Life / Poland: The land of -isms [63]

Here is USA most Poles are racist. I moved here as a kid and lived in poor neighborhoods so most my friends were black or Latino. Yet even my Polish parents always looked down on blacks. Sure there are more of them committing a crime than say Asian people but 99% just want to work and have a good life. Just walk in any Polish store in NY and start talking about MURZYNI and you'll get an ear full. It's a shame considering how we Polish people are scattered all over the world where people welcome us jet we are first to judge someone with darker skin.

Love / Massive problems with Polish mother-in-law [36]

Sound exactly like my mom. I was her only son, lived with her till I was 24 and when I found my wife, an American, I moved out but continue to support her till one day I said enough. My mother turned psycho. Tried everything to break us up. Would scream at my wife to get out off my life. Actually end up hurting her self (broken bones) to get my attention and make me feel sorry for her. Guilt was her favorite weapon. Trying everyday to kick my wife out. I kicked her out instead, taking her straight to the airport sending her back to Poland. I never spoken with her again and don't want to.

Don't worry, your husband knows what is going on. My wife was in the same boat, she went through total hell and that is how I know she truly loves me. Anyone who can live with my mother for just a week deserve a medal. Now two years later, my mom is trying to reach out to my wife, apologizing, thinking that of they start to communicate I will too.

Love / Dating a Polish guy for three years. Will he ever marry me? [44]

I say he will eventually leave you. Sorry but that's the truth. If he was around your age and had other women before you, divorced or had some kids of his own, I would say he is a keeper. But you got a guy who never had a woman before, who is 23 (20 when he met you), he will eventually want to taste some other things. I would move on. Plenty of older Polish guys around. But, lets face it, you are in love and you will wait. I hope I'm wrong.

USA, Canada / Getting a VISA to USA by a Polish person nowadays [339]

My nice and nephew both got 10 years visa (multiple entry). I sent them invitation letter, the I-134 form and all my banks, employment data, everything. My sister contacted some agency in Warsaw and applied for tourist visa (never used my invitation) and both kids got visas. They were 16 and 19 year old. I was shocked. I was sure they would not get it even with my support but they got 10 year visas with no income, nothing holding them back in Poland.

Life / Eating out in Poland, is it expensive? [28]

I'm having hard time finding out the cost of food (eating out) in cities like, Poznan, Wroslaw, Szczecin. It's been 12 years since I visited. My wife and I plan on retiring in Poland from USA. My family members in Poland keep telling me DON'T BOTHER and go else where as restaurants are expensive. We don't cook, never did here in USA. They kinda pop my bubble and lately I have been looking at Thailand, Greece, South America as eating out is usually under $2-$3 per person. Can someone please tell me honestly what is the cost of meal in Poland. Now I know there are fancy places and everyday places. We dine at cheap places here in USA (diners, some fast food, some small shops) so we would be fine with street food and maybe 2-3 a week going to actual restaurant. Thank you.

Life / Eating out in Poland, is it expensive? [28]

Thank you guys. Thailand is looking better and better. I remember in 2001 when my wife and I visited Poland, we bounced around in taxis all over Szczecin for a full week, ate in restaurant with desserts and spent maybe $200

Yes, but I'm retiring at 45 years old so I need cheaper place where my dollar has more buying power or keep on working which I do not want. I'm the only Polak that wants to retire early. Most others I know work till they die with millions in the bank. They just can't stop. I want to be completely broke at age 60. Have some friends that did that and they say it was best decision they made. Stop working in 40s, enjoy your life while you still somewhat young and let the Government take care of you when you old.

Life / Eating out in Poland, is it expensive? [28]

I have been looking at Cambodia. There are many Youtube channels about it. The problem is that only few places in Cambodia are livable and rest of the country is in poverty. Thailand, I can live anywhere, even in the small villages as the standard of living is higher so less chance of desperate people committing crime.

Life / Eating out in Poland, is it expensive? [28]

Actually Thailand has the cheapest food as most meals from street vendors are 35-50 Baht, which is $1.5. Cambodia is about $2-$3 per meal. We went to Ecuador in September and food was about $3-$5 per meal. We went to Quito, Cuenca and Vilcabamba. Weather is nice, 22c year round at 3000m elevation where most cities are. But the locals are very annoying. Always begging or trying to sell you things, none stop. After 3 days I started to get angry at them, this would get old fast.

I still like Poland best as I was born there and we like European life style. Plus you don't stick out like a tourist being white.

Love / I have a crush on my boyfriend's Polish friend ( advice needed ) [33]

Well, maybe he is not into you and just made up the story about his new girlfriend just to get you off his back. If he was interested in you, even if he had a new girl, he would keep his mouth shut about her keeping all options open. It's simple, the man of your dreams is not into you. Sorry for being rude.

Love / I am in a serious relationship with a girl i met on-line from Poland - advice needed [19]

Go visit Poland. Spend some time with her, see how it goes. You are crazy to be moving to Poland for woman you know only from the net/phone. If you spend some time with her and you guys click, then have her move down under or America. You do not want to move to Poland unless you are retiring and have nice chunk of money (minimum half a million dollars)
