Love / Polish wife is threatening me to pay child support 1000zl per month. [40]

No need for fighting. But I think you got to play by the rules of the country you're in. I don't know why some people are calling it 'cultural racism' or whatever.

The polish mother was brought up in a specific way, in a land with different laws. Therefore, anyone that steps into it has no right to call it whatever. Rules are rules.

You can hire a lawyer, but I would be more upset at myself if I was in your position.

You have a baby, you're meant to take care of it, not doing so is just disgraceful in my opinion. I know you're going through hard times, but surely you should be trying to get another job, more help rather than trying to get out of whatever your wife asks. That's my personal opinion, of course I don't know the whole story etc...

Whoever thinks Polish people are racist are kidding themselves. I am British and I love the Polish attitude. Proud and stand firm. Nothing racist about that. Stubborn is a better adjective but nothing wrong with that.

Life / Are Polish natives intolerant of foreigners who do not properly speak the language? [30]

I have been in Poland for 2 years.

There was this one REALLY horrible incident. Me and my girlfriend were minding our business at a tram stop, talking and this drugged up, smelly woman came up and started screaming at her. She is Polish and started crying and I asked her why and she said that she was calling her a stupid tart and that she was going to hang her. I was so angry but couldn't do anything because she didn't tell me/cry until we got onto the tram...

BUT the other 729 days were ABSOLUTELY fine and everyone was nice to me and left me alone. I don't speak a word (yet) but I am serious to learn now for my girlfriend. Wouldn't go as far as to say they try and help me, instead some ignore me, but geez, its hardly something I go on the internet and complain about?

You ever thought maybe 1 guy Wendy met was a dick? That's the answer.

I have been in London where I am from and 3 guys started on me... Doesn't mean I am going to say British people are cruel, am I?

UK, Ireland / Crying Polish truck driver on British roads is Internet hit [269]

Has anyone realised here... That the police are in a program called 'Traffic Cops'. This means they are police and that they are catching people who drive like bells and park illegally, right? Or am I wrong? So that is the answer to 'why they were doing something so 'pinickity' in this case, their 'job.' To catch people doing illegal things on the road on camera. That is what has happened. Traffic Cops is a program for people to watch. It is seen as 'comedy' in Britain. They're not going to put on the program a Brit going 'Oh ok. I will just pop off then' no one would watch it. There are however lots and lots of **** British drivers in this program, and from other nationalities. Not just Polish! Unfortunately this guy was Polish and he reacted terribly, although slightly funny as well.

The Polish guy got nervous, who wouldn't? Camera on your face, you feel like you're screwed. He panics and can't understand what they are saying. It's pretty normal to act like that. He probably thought hes going to jail, losing money and could lose his job. Who wouldn't panic?

No idea why people are defending him so much though? Can someone explain that? I understand it is not a life threatening thing, but it just is against the law, right? So he's not meant to do it. That's all. As seen in many other threads, where someone who isn't Polish is going against Polish laws and all the Polish people are saying 'It's our land, our law' the same applies here. It's Britain, their laws. The police had a job, to catch illegally parked trucks, whatever nationality.

I know there are a lot of Polish people in Britain, making them susceptible to being victims of something, which gives an 'impression' that there is racism because probably quite a few of them feel unwelcome at times. Before any of you guys say 'IMPRESSION! GWAHHH!' please listen. There is racism in Uk. I can tell you that. Before I came to Poland and lived here, I thought Poland was 'so far behind' Uk etc and now, I feel DISGUSTED at myself, especially after Euros. However, this is just not one of those cases. The Polish man was wrong and I understand the frustration you are going through, that the BBC are showing Polish people in being 'stupid' and laughing at them almost. I understand the frustration about that.

However, what Monia said 'Look at their stupid expressions' regarding the British is just as racist. You can deny all you want, but you have a vision on what a British policeman is like. Although I agree most of them are useless, what you are saying and believing is just as racist. On top of this, I sense you feel like British people look down on Polish people. Have you had a bad experience in the past?

What I can't stand people saying is that he got picked on BECAUSE he is Polish. Does that mean if the police officers saw he was English, Italian, French, Spanish, American, Japanese, Chinese they would have just said 'Oh ok, don't worry. It's no big deal.' ?!?!?! No, they wouldn't. And there is a clear example in this exact scene. The Turkish man took the fine, said thank you and drove off. Because the Polish guy didn't do this, it made the program interesting resulting in him being a national hit.

That's it. Nothing more to really say on it. Rant over.

UK, Ireland / Crying Polish truck driver on British roads is Internet hit [269]

Please can we all stop fighting?! Jeez. There just is NO need for it.

The program is to show people who drive badly. There are lots of situations where Brits are driving like bells and get arrested. They drive away and they get chased. Or they do something else stupid.

The guy in this scene is Polish. I don't know how many other scenes there are with Polish people on Youtube or whatever but I imagine (not sure though) not that many. I think the Polish people are a little too hurt though here because he is made to look like a fool. Of course, the BBC saying like 'Kingdom of Potatoes' or whatever should not be said. Saying that, it is just a little joke, I don't think there is any harm meant. I understand Polish peoples frustration here that this gives British people an image of Polish people being lower tier or something, and I won't deny it, SOME do think that, which is unfortunate.

However, you guys need to lighten up a bit. Just a bit. There is no racial hatred going on here or anything close to it.

People saying that Polish people are rude, yes, they are. British people are rude, but they won't do it in public as much. Why? Because a lot of the Polish people speak english. That's the answer. I speak Japanese and every now and then, my Mum says something bad about someone (not like REALLY bad) in public. It's the same in this situation.

If English wasn't a world wide spoken language, you would be doing the same too. Let's not kid ourselves that we are nice people who don't bad mouth others in public as much. If no one spoke our language, we would do it. That's it.

Saying that, not airing something because they are Polish is just stupid. Polish people demanded minutes silence in Nottingham when the Polish President passed away in that airplane crash. They want attention in the Uk, and for the British people to respect them for what they want, in Britain and some British people didn't/don't like this. I understand Polish people want to be respected more, but you can't have it one way, and when one Polish man does something wrong, it shouldn't be aired.

I personally think people read into this too much. It's a 5 minute clip on probably a 30 minute show or a 60 minute show. So there are a hell of a lot of situations, and the Polish people have decided they are victims because of these 5 minutes. We got to grow up.

It's the individuals reaction I believe people laugh at. Thinking about it, its horrible but it is just a little bit of comedy I think on the British side. It's just the same as the stereotype 'All British girls are fat and ugly' etc. Just a bit of a joke.

There is no way there is any form of racism involved in this. There is no need to get angry about it and no need to defend him so much.

Love / Indian national is seeking help to get my Polish wife back! [30]

I think you need to talk to your wife 1 and 1. You need to make her see that she is an adult and she needs to make some decisions by herself. Life is too short to be listening to others making decisions for you. Then make her see how much you want this to work.

Of course I can't confirm, but I really doubt that he was an actor. It's just not something they would do. Other parts of the programs show car chases etc and I don't think BBC would stoop even that low to get some shots.. I really don't.

I don't think BBC are bad people to that level. Please don't think that they are REALLY bad just because of some programs they post wrong. Even their Panorama documents was based on 'facts' although the way they presented it was very poor.

I believe he does speak in Polish in the car but I may be wrong.

Monia, you are right. British people are FULL of hatred right now because of that whole job issue. That wasn't started by the BBC or the Government but in my opinion the public. There are people ranting on about Polish and Black people 'invading THEIR' country on youtube. Women have been jailed for it for racist abuse in the past year.

Groups like EDL do not help either!

UK, Ireland / Crying Polish truck driver on British roads is Internet hit [269]

The whole program on BBS was so phony that what surprises me more that many of you beleve in that made up story .

Monia, please don't just believe it... I honestly believe you are wrong, I know I have no proof but I believe you are just trying to see the worst in British people here. It's a program and I do believe it is real and I just don't see it being all 'acted out'. It's just not that kind of program, honestly.

What does that have to do with it? If people are parking on the shoulder it's because there isn't another place for them to park.

I don't understand why you can't see what he did was wrong? You don't cut potatoes on the road... You don't talk on the phone on the road... There are other things you should not do when driving. You do not just park up on a motorway. It's just something you don't do. It's just that simple. I know it's not a HUGE crime, but still it's a crime, and you're fighting the law. In Uk, traffic cops are strict and that's just the way it is. I'm sorry a Polish person was humiliated on TV but it doesn't mean you have to defend his 'actions.'

People need to try understanding each other instead of just thinking about their own country/people. There's just too much hatred.
