Work / Irish native speaker moving to Poland - job ideas (private lessons?) [9]

[Moved from]: Irish moving to Warsaw, Poland. TEFL course and UK TV stations. Job ideas?

Hi my name is Eddie and I'm Irish, I am planning to move to Warsaw in the next few months to join my Polish girlfriend who recently moved back. I currently work as a television Graphics operator in Ireland (live sports, news, entertainment etc.) and was wondering if anyone knew of any English speaking TV stations/channels within Poland or such positions, I know such channels exist in France, Germany etc. but I'm not sure about Poland. I realise this may be a long shot so I am also doing a TEFL course at the moment and hold a Diploma in Media, so I'm hoping this will be enough to get me a English teaching position in a language school, however I am pretty much willing to work at anything. I've visited Poland on numerous occasions and really enjoy the culture, people, food & beautiful scenery; I only know some Polish words & basic phrases. Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your help.

Work / Irish native speaker moving to Poland - job ideas (private lessons?) [9]

Thanks for the reply Harry, unfortunately the Celta course was full up for months in advance so had to go with the 140 hour online TEFL course plus 20 hour classroom training. Still wondering about the television industry there and the possibility of English speaking work, if anyone can help. I also had a friend email me about freelance computer game testers in Warsaw, just wondering if anyone knows anything about this either. Thanks.

Does anyone know of a normal length pre-marriage course (through English) in the Warsaw/Lodz area? Also any info on certs & documents which are needed would be great. I've heard it's a long and complicated process....

Thanks,

Law / Tax deductibles for self-employed English teacher working in Poland [7]

Hi,
I'm currently considering switching from standard contracts to being self-employed. I was wondering if anyone had a list (or any idea) of tax deductibles available to English teachers? I have heard that I can claim 1/3 (because married) of my flat rental and expenses (gas/electricity/Internet) even without having lessons there as I use it as my office, is this true? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi All,
Just looking for some info on English driving Lessons in Warsaw. Judging from some of the older posts on this topic, the prices seem to jump around quite a bit. So if anyone has any current and up-to-date info it would be greatly appreciated. I've heard that the course usually includes 30 hours of lessons, theory test, medical test and translator on the test day, is this true? Thanks in advance for your help!

Law / Leasing a car - is this common in Poland? [4]

Merged: Car Leasing

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone out there has some up-to-date info on car leasing (Warsaw) for a self-employed person. I've heard about repayment totals of 103%, 105%, 109% and even yesterday 116%. Any decent leasing company recommendations? Also I'm a little unsure about the insurance aspect, I'm lead to believe that OC & AC would be around 2,000zl annually. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!
