Life / Homosexuality in Polish Culture [231]

Being that the majority of Poles are catholic there isn't arguments in how to interpret the bible in the way Protestants are free to. The Catholic church considers the 'act' as sinful, as is mastubation.

So as I am without sin I cannot cast any stones ;)

Genealogy / Mixed-Blood Poles in America (Do we count?) [118]

I've read about the social differences in regards to mixed-race individuals in the UK, for example, and the US.

In the UK you are more likly to be 'classed' by your actions than what your parents were/are.

When Einstein came up with his theory of relativity, he said of the German people,
"If I am right, they'll say I'm a German, if proved wrong, a Jew".

Travel / My Polish Sojourn (my Poland vacation observations) [10]

London: I should also add that London truly presents itself like a former imperial capital, and today the capital of the world, the amount of people from every corner of the world-you can almost hear every European language, is quite incredible. In the end you just give up listening to all the different languages.

I'm happy you 'got it'.

Your diary of Poland was an enjoyable insight too.

Genealogy / Are Scandanavians a mix between Polish & Iberian stock? [70]

The Haplogroup evidence suggests for at least 11 thousand years people in Poland have pretty much been genetically the same people.

From a mathematical perspective every european is related. If you go back to the 7th Century every one of the people from that time, providing they had children, is your ancestor. Most all issues on halogroups going further back than the 7th Cent is void when discussing european nationalities as they are now.

So yes, all europeans are mixed with Poles, if that's what you are trying to prove.

I doubt the above will stop you bleating about halogroups on near every post you make, but maybe expand your knowledge to other topics surrounding Polish issues.

Law / Thinking of opening up a Greek restaurant in Poland, bad idea or good? Jenkei [45]

The OP's idea for a Greek shop in Podkarpackie is in teresting but ambitious - better make a decent Greek cafe and have a product range of retail stuff for sale

There is a fair amount of talk in economic circles regarding Greece's financial longer term prolems, and there is expectation that noticable numbers of Greeks will disperse through EU countries. The market for Greek items demanded by ex-pat Greeks is going to expand greatly.

News / Insulting Catholics in Poland can get you 2 years in jail? [67]

Never heard about the 10 year old (or somewhere around that age) who said "yuck" at the site of her mate's lunch. The mate as an immigrant from somewhere in ME and vicinity. The girls' comment prompted serious investigation of her and her family in regards to the proper upbringing at home.

No I haver never heard of this.

Have you heard of the difference between hypothetical situations and reality? This never happend. In the artical it is a 'for example'. How did you figure there was a serious investigation that followed in a fantastical situation?

If I said to someone they are incapable of seperating reality from fantasy which is a clear sign of mental illness, they may feel insulted even though it is also true. However, I prefer not to hurl insults, even at the ridiculous.

News / Insulting Catholics in Poland can get you 2 years in jail? [67]

If not, why so , gay insult in the civilised world is unacceptable and calls the opposition but an insult of Catholics should be morally allowed and not criminalized.

There is a colloquial expression in Britain ' A slap in the face' which means to receive an insult or rejection. It is very well known what Jesus said about this situation. In the case of the RCC specifically they should practise what they preach, or it does show as hypocrisy. Forgiveness is fundemental to followers of Christ.

News / Sex is patriotic: Poland's birth rate rises [34]

States/nations with Europeans generally become more powerful when their European populations increase.

Depending also on resources esp in Poland's case with future gas mining. I won't be at all suprised if many Poles who are abroad return 10 years from now creating a leap in Population and a baby-boom. Without a high population and related consumption, exerting any global power will be an irrelevance.

Like Germany, Russia and the US.

I like the way you ignored th UK. I guess too multicultural even though it's over 90% white. Nevermind.

News / Sex is patriotic: Poland's birth rate rises [34]

Somehow I doubt this.

You really think they will continue doing the tedious jobs in the UK with the economic boom expected with gas salesin Poland? Suprising when almost without fail I hear them say they will return when there is work in Poland or left because of a poor economy. If you doubt it, I can only say I know Polish people better than you.

This is just nitpicking.

No. Establishing context. If I was nit-picking I would have mentioned France as well as pointing out USA is not a European country. Too late in the night for a LOL over here.

News / Sex is patriotic: Poland's birth rate rises [34]

And im guessing that a large portion of them (not just in Britain) wont return to Poland.

Same difference wherever in the entire EU. Holland, Norway etc none seem to be keen to anchor. It's almost or maybe is part of the stereotype freely offered.

From where I took my first reference it is regarding European nations. If there are economic migrant Poles in darkest Africa or Japan, I am not aware of it neither is it relevant to Europe's situation.

I'm not guessing I am going by commonly held beliefs regarding the nature of Polands emmigration around Europe. I think the stat is 1 in 12 are in high skilled work I really can't think why some one will take the disadvantages inherent in being low skilled in a foreign country when there is opportunities within their homeland. Maybe some will just stay and sit on their arses on benefits/welfare or enjoy bottom of the barrel work.

600,000 went back in the UK downturn (more than half) or to another eu country (Whereever there was work)mostly back to Poland and that was when there wasn't opportunity there like there will be when drilling starts. I'm tallking about Polish people not some 2nd or 3rd generation Canadian born who thinks he's Polish merely cause he can speak Polish, eats pickled cabbage and logs onto PF.

Many means many it doesn't mean just about anything. The opposite of a few then.

A very sad rant,

I listened all the way through. Whether one is a literal believer or not, it's kinda hard to take someone seriously who believes at the wedding feast of Cana, Jesus turned water into grape juice!

News / Poland warns against deporting its workers: hypocrisy? [35]

Henk Kamp is an arse. However is it so much to ask Poland to take responsibility for their own people? An economic migrant who has gone to another eu country where they cannot be bothered to learn the language of their host nation doesn't have much chance of becoming employed where Dutch speaking people are without employment.

I've seen it here many times that people say not to even attempt to find work in Poland without speaking its language. Poland's EU migrants once had a good reputation for being hard working but after a period of unemployment without success, it is not the eu model to stay and bum around. The open borders are for a mobilised work force not a way to expunge your burden. It must negate the reputation of ex-pats who are holding down a job their and doing Poland proud.

News / Poland warns against deporting its workers: hypocrisy? [35]

I wonder why the Netherlands is targetting Eastern Europeans who generally work hard ?

Yet, Is not targetting Muslims who have caused alot or problems such as how Theo Van Gogh was murdered.

The more I look at things the more I think Western Europeans are generally retarded LOL

They are, but this is PolishForums, not deflect-onto-muslims-forums

Life / What on earth is the fascination of Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalese with Poland? [112]

i don't know but I have yet to see a place that doesn't go downhill once brown people decide they want to immigrate.
Where ever they live in large numbers, they manage to turn it for the worse e.g. Uk, Germany, France, Canada (west coast), Australia...

UK, Germany and France are 3 of the countries that arn't anywhere near as deep in muck as the countries that have lower brownie immigration.

Look how dirty those countries are, it's not because of tourists.

Are you talking about the conditions in which curry-eaters have left the public toilets that you cleaned in your global tour of these countries?

Life / What do Poles think of Indians? [35]

Beggars, not same people. Islamic terrorists. Better read some history and geography.

Most don't care to see any difference when this far away from that area. It's the same way where all Slavs/Eastern Europeans are called Polish in England.

Life / Are there a lot of goths in Poland? [36]

Regarding his Dracula I would say it had a Slavophobic theme in that it depicted Slovaks as the count's most ardent human henchmen

Not known to me, but history isn't my thing. Not mentioned in standard school education anyway which usually starts at 1066 Battle of Hastings.
I always thought of Dracula as a pimp, sucking the life out of young maidens the way he did.

Life / What on earth is the fascination of Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalese with Poland? [112]

I also have a friend who works for the GMC (General Medical Council) and most of the complaints are about asian doctors - not Poles!

Not true. I worked in that field. 3rd world doctors are not over-represented in GMC complaints. The work permit is more regarding nursing where hearing a UK accent may have been about 1 in 10 (in London). A work permit only needs a Medical Director to rubber stamp a letter. The real issue is on linguistic ability.

Polish doctors move to countries where pay is much higher than the UK where Consultant level medicine may get you £80k for a three day week, a pittance compared to the US. Poland's education for medicine is well reputed as are Jag Uni graduates.

Life / What on earth is the fascination of Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalese with Poland? [112]

the point is that "brownie immigration" has increased crime, unemployment and urban pollution in those places; Europeans end up footing the bill for the majority of these people to come in and turn what was clean into something that is dirty and if it is dirty, they'll make it dirtier.

TBH I'll have to look into your claim a bit deeper. What you say still apears to be playing on negative stereotypes(which I threw back at you earlier, (wasn't meant as a personal offence)).The point I was making is these countries carry their immigration issues on their own backs and have still managed to keep ticking over. An EU country such as Greece which is painted by UK media as institutionally racist has also shown itself to be the most inept. The 3 countries are final destinations for far-flung immigrants once they get into the EU, not a European burden as much as a nationalistic one.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

Compare to a country of similar size and population, Spain. Spain has 5.7 million foreigners. Even the Spanish-speaking Lations are nor welcome there. 1/3 of New York's residents are foreign born (not counting illegals). Too much multi culturalism isn't good ask the French, Spanish, or English if they like that many foreigners in their homelands.

The most recent poll has just 1 in 4 Britons still wanting to be in the EU, says it all.

Life / What on earth is the fascination of Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalese with Poland? [112]

Really? I'll have to tell my friend she is a liar then as stated, she actually works for the GMC.

Yep, ask her again. There was also an investigation into racism in the GMC the findings were left open to speculation with nothing proven.

So are you telling me Indan doctors do not need a visa for post grad positions?

Political football on this: the NHS and DoH actively went looking for Doctors from India in specialties British doctors weren't into, it was the home office said no but some time this year they stood down with Vince Cable saying high-skilled will get in(but hey, high skilled are unlikely to be claiming benefits). Wouldn't have a need to if it weren't for the 48hr week working time directive that immediately caused a shortage of doctors.

Everyone from over those areas need work-visas don't they? I thought it has been like that since forever.
Anyway, as for stemming doctor flow you may find the opposite is true. UK doctors will always come first - I can't recall of the maybe 100 junior doctors I met that weren't British. Nurses, now that's another story, but no Indains, Pakistanis or Nepalese so I won't go into it.

I should get black slaves on account of being white

You know, Abe Lincoln showed it was more cost efficient to hire workers as employees than keep slaves.

Food / Pancakes with cottage cheese? [40]

Maybe something is lost in translation into English??
Crepes are the french method of pancakes, more aerated and thinner with crispy edges, in England usually served with honey and lemon than syrup. The same batter without sugar makes very passable Yorkshire puddings.
