Yes, after googling, there will appear lots of results . . . but there exists no pdf file for "Basic Polish: Grammar and Workbook" by Dana Bielec. And Those files that are available for downloading contain just, for example, references to the above book. :(

Language / Improving Polish reading comprehension and vocabulary. A downloadable collection of passages? [14]

Hello

Does anyone know of a downloadable file (Word or PDF, . . .) containing a collection of reading passages in Polish (for improving Polish)? It would be perfect if it has meaning of difficult vocabulary in English. (I need something for advanced level, like the level for reading and understanding news, newspapers, . . .)

Thanks.

Thank you. But I'd like something that would have an educational purpose because in this case, all passages follow a cohesive and meaningful end. But when one is going to come across a news site, one doesn't know what article, or passage, or news should read, and in this case, one's vocabulary doesn't improve systematically, and one can't review past language knowledge.

Like this?

Oh my! No, I never like grzegorj's site! It teaches grammar! (but in a horrible way!) BUT I said: I want something in a PASSAGE format :( It means I want to READ, READ, READ . . . the news sites that you sent were great! But one gets lost in the abundance of texts, . . . is there an ebook to contain selected texts :( . . . .

History / Symbols & Signs in Polish History, Culture & Life [89]

Hi there to you all Poles,

Please mention the signs or symbols that are of unique significance in Polish history, culture and life. Symbols could be from among colours, animals, art, drinks, food, . . . everything that stands for POLAND.

The story of the white eagle is as follows

Oh, Thank you so much. It was a very nice story and help.

Do you know of other stories like this about Poland? If so, please tell.

AND. What about Polish folklore? Or myths? Please tell me. I'd really like to know.

Thanks.

Antek already posted it, post #40. :-)

I can't open it. Another photo pls.

you really need a quick refresher course on PRL

Boletus, where can I find something like a pdf file where I can find everything necessary about PRL? Not wikipedia, it is not complete! for example it doesn't have "bare hooks"!!! (what is it?) or it even doesn't have the English entry for "Frania" . . . I'd like to know everything that is important to Poles, plus those things that are memorable for them both culturally & historically . . . Of course, symbols are very important to me.

Language / You & The Polish Language: Just in One Sentence [11]

Hello there to you Poles,

Please give your personal opinions & experiences about the Polish Language JUST in one sentence.

(You may compare it with other Slavic languages, or speak about its difficulty frequency, or its advantages or disadvantages . . .)

Then:

The Polish language is ???

You cannot squeeze 44 years of 30 million people of several generations into one exhaustive document.

No, I don't have such an expectation! But I had the idea perhaps there would have been a PPT-file stuff or PDF-file thing containing all those necessary things described in a brief way or with references for further reading. What is important is the frame!

Can you normally give 10 minutes break before you act?

How?

satanically difficult for a foreigner, and childishly easy for any Polish kid.

Why "satanically"??? . . . Are you sure it is easy for any Polish kid? Don't kids find it difficult?

There, fixed that for you.

Hey, Alex, what about your own sentence and experience?

Antek, I never meant that your correcting an untrue statement wasn't appreciable. It is surely necessary to learn, and to learn true and correct things. And if you hadn't referred to it, I would have believed it. However, whatever I learn here, I will study through other resources. Again, I thank you for your replies and I am sure they are honest. Moreover, I didn't directed that to you. I just asked everybody to focus on the question more that anything else.

Everybody! Please discuss other symbols, too. Surely Poland has other significant symbols, too. And it is obvious there are so many points and topics in a nation's history that need scientific and technical discussions so as to remove doubts although some doubts and unclear points will always be there. And this is an inherent feature of all histories.

Everybody! Please don't forget about other aspects of Polish life. Why should one speak about military things much? . . . About food, about relationships, cultural life, . . . about religious symbols, . . . dailylife, yes, especially dailylife . . .

Thanks

A spoon inside a boot-top

Do you have a photo of the spoon in a boot-top?

And why did they put the spoon inside a boot-top? . . . Then they took it out whenever they needed to eat something? Perhaps washed it before using it.

Hey guys thank you for nice contributions. I really enjoy your replies.
And please also refer to:

Dancing traditional symbols
distinctive, symbolic activities or traditions done at schools or universities
symbols special to parties (esp. wedding party)
love-relationship symbolic things (esp. if they are derived from folklore)
special idioms that remind Poles of a movie, comedy, . . .
Clothing symbols
does and don'ts of cultural significance (from sitting-behind-the-table rules---perhaps taught to kids---to how to respect the elderly)
And other things . . .

Again, thank you all for your help.

Hello,

Please introduce a downloadable book that teaches Polish Grammar in French, and another book that contains Polish vocabulary with French meanings. And if you have recommendations, please tell me.

Why doesn't anybody say anything? :(

No, I don't mean a dictionary. There should be some vocabulary lists from basic levels to advanced ones which try to help boost vocabulary.
