USA, Canada / I live in the US and changed my name. I need Polish passport (the old one expired). [5]

Hi Agnieszka,

When did your passport expire? And when was it issued? You may find - as many persons have - that you need to confirm your Polish Citizenship first before you can apply for a new passport.

Also, if your name changed due to marriage you may need to register your Marriage Certificate in Poland first.

I also know that Poland introduced biometric passports and for that reason applications need to be lodged in person. Sounds like a lot to do but it is all doable.

Good luck!

Genealogy / HOW TO GET BACK YOUR ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE AFTER MARRIAGE IN A USC OFFICE [13]

Hi All

To avoid such situations as described above - it is wise to request a full extract of a vital record from your birthplace (in Australia it costs about $25); that way, even if the document is withheld by the Polish authorities (and they do have a right to do so when registering a birth of the foreigner in the Polish Registry Office), there are no dramas and regrets over the "original" original...

Genealogy / Michal Orlik, born 28/09/1925 Bazaar, poland, surely I have relatives somewhere? [12]

Julie,
I understand that you may have had some bad experiences when dealing with others over the internet. Unfortunately, there is a lot of dishonest people out there trying to use the gullible ones but I do not think it is fair to pass a judgement on someone or something you know nothing about.

I have used the services of the polishcitizen.info.pl and WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND its services to anyone that needs some assistance in research or other dealings with the authorities in Poland.
