Travel / A week in Krakow (February) - info about weather, hotels, and traffic [28]

I'm going to be visiting Krakow in early February for 1 week. Should I expect it to be bitterly cold the entire week? Just wondering if I should even bother bringing shoes, or just my cold-weather Sorels. Are the hostels pretty much empty that time of year? Thanks for any input.

More specifically, wouldn't it be odd to be in a pub at 10:00pm in big winter boots? Or will everyone be wearing such?

Try not to stick only to the square, venture out and explore other places to find the little gems.

News / The "Arbeit Macht Frei" sign theft from Oswiecim, Poland [240]

I will be visiting Krakow in early February. I will be spending a day at Auschwitz and was wondering if the original "Arbeit Macht Frei" sign is back up, or is it still a replica? Thanks all.

I will be visiting Auschwitz on January 22 and was informed here on PF that the original Arbeit Macht Frei sign was back in place at Auschwitz. However, in a recent story regarding this, the article stated that a temporary sign was in its place. Which is true? (Is there anything special happening there on the 27th of January to mark the 66th anniversary of the libertion of the camp)? Thank you.
