News / Polish Policeman shoots down a foreigner in Warsaw [300]

I cant understand why this thread is online, First and foremost, No one knows the facts of the incident apart from the deceased (RIP) and the Police officer. Forget abt what the witnesses say - anyone could say anything depending on which side they're on.

Generally, i think killing someone for any reason is unexcusable and i'll not be dragged into this stupid debate of race cos it's very easy to prejudice the Police officer and yet it could be that he shot on purpose - how can we prove that? err NEVER!

Saying that the Nigerian guy tried to hustle the gun off him is very divisive - Why have the gun in the first place? Is this Polish Police policy, shoot on sight? I'm not naive to think that the police can't self defence but why use such excessive force? was it called for? Was the whole situation worsened by the amount of force exercised?

I've seen numerous Police raids across the world but you dont see police flagging around live arms unless u're dealing with fire arm dealers - If you want to see someone's status papers, is it necessary to have a live and loaded fire arm??

It's unfortunate that this whole episode involved people of a different race, however, i still think it could have happened to anyone BUT i codemn the unnecessary excessive force used. You dont kill a mosquito with a gun!! Common sense please!

Love / Inside polish women's psychology and mind [109]

Mate, this is a very subjective issue - Trying to understand a woman is like winning lottery!. You would be extremely lucky to fully understand whats behind womens' behaviour.

I personally stick to the more objective stuff like.....England can't win the world cup b'se they're rubbish at taking penalties or which wine tastes better.

I really hope i dont sound like a nerd cos you seem quite serious and focused with this adventure of yours but honestly, there's NO MANUAL for women. I actually think weather is more predictable than women.

I think the best way to approach it is to do it at a personal level rather than trying to understand women as a whole...Now thats some assignment. Let me know how you get on!

You would have extreme bad luck if you did

AJ - much as i think i would regret it, i can easily snap someone's hand off for this particular bad luck. There are some very trivial issues i struggle to understand on a daily basis with the missus. This would make my life much easier...err sorry not easier, abit like smoother!

Love / What are Polish Women like? Just started to date one. [256]

I know a Polish girl who says 3 kurwas in a 5 word sentence! I think what most Polish gals have less of is - Emotional control! They're beautiful though, aren't they?

Tip: Once the tantrums start - Just put cotton wool in your ears! Not that i understand half of what they're saying at that point anyway!

Expect to say goodbye to your freedom, friends and hobbies

Thats very true.... the missus wants us to spend saturday afternoons in the park(.....err sun bathing) and walking on riverbanks (oh yeah...that includes feeding bread to geese, Shouldn't this be illegal?)!

Now.....what substitutes a Saturday afternoon in a pub with the lads when footie is on?!
Apparently...im selfish!

Life / WHY DO POLES USE ENGLISH WORDS IN CONVERSATION? [396]

My wife just said to our little one - 'zjeść chickena'. I asked her where she got it from and she says it's instinctive! The little one answered ..umhhh?? with a very confused look on his face...bless him.

Say you decide to return to POLAND and then kaboom... Polska is also multicultural! Then what?? Free advice, change your attitude and stop going on abt people being a minority or a majority for that matter. Black/white/chinese/indian/arab/man/woman...are all of the same RACE - HUMAN RACE! *Still shaking my head in disgust and anguish!*

Love / Do African or Afro- American women find Polish men attractive? [179]

I actually do know a couple(Polish guy, African woman) here in the UK. How they met...ah well to cut the story short, they're inlaws to either families if that makes sense! The African woman's brother married the Polish man's sister and so viceversa...very interesting stuff indeed! I think firstly you should find a good friend in an African man, then somewhat you'll get the connections OR you could try night clubs afterall the men do it that way!

I genuinely wish you the best of luck...i'm sure someone will come along!

How can someone quite possibly have a meaningful dialog with people like Southern?? Such irrational thinking!
MotownBoy, If an African/Afro-American woman is what you want, then go for it mate!
You'll be amazed by how easy it can be if you approach someone and ask them out. Whats the worst that can happen??

Polonia / Hotel/Apartment accomodation in Dubai......any recommendations? [6]

I'm planning to travel to Dubai towards the end of October for a few days. However, having spent countless hours on the internet searching for hotel/apartment deals, i'm very hesitant as most reviews i've read seem abit suspect - 'Tourist trap'. Does anyone genuinely know of a hotel/apartment that could suit a family of 4 - 2 adults & 2 children (3 & 6) with fairly low rates (3*/4*) preferably?

Thanks

UK, Ireland / EEA family permit from Poland to UK - time and process [60]

Kleana, there's a few things you need to do abt the EEA Family permit.
You'll have to apply for an Entry clearance visa (EEA Family Permit) at the UK embassy in Warsaw. This one just allows you to enter the UK - to join your husband as a Non-EEA family member of a EEA member. And yes, as you can see on the application form, your husband must have the following documents

1. Firstly, registered on the (Worker Registration Scheme)WRS as this is the only piece of document that binds him to exercising his rights to stay in the UK as an EEA member. Registering on this scheme takes between 4-6 weeks before he gets his certificate.

The Interpretation of the law is; for you to join your husband, he must be exercising his rights to live and work in the UK as an EEA member and since he's Polish, the only way for him to exercise this right is to register for the WRS.

2. NI is not that important because that takes longer sometimes. He has to attend interviews at the Job center and all that. Yes, it's required but if he doesn't have it by the time you want to travel, i doubt that will be such an issue.

3. Employment - Your husband will have to prove that he works in the UK. you'll need his employer's details i.e address and contact details. You'll also need his employment details i.e employment contracts, payslips, hours worked per week and also terms of employment. Btw - you need to provide all these documents as evidence to support your application. Originals preferrably.

4. Accomodation, Yes, your husband must have a known address in the UK. you will need the address details and the Landlord details. Most importantly you MUST have the rental contract. With this contract, it's an assurance that you have an permanent address in the UK.

5. Other documents to support your application.
a. Financial documents(you & your husbands bank staements), whilst they are desirable to have, they're definitely NOT essential. Like i said earlier, your husband, an EEA member has rights to live and work in the UK, so financial guarantee is not a prerequisite!

b. Your relationship to the EEA member. this is as Important as anything really. you'll have to prove that your marriage is genuine hence your marriage certificate should be available. Be ready to answer some personal questions if needed.

c. Yes, you'll need photocopies of your husband's identity documents.

With all these documents, you should be able to get your visa no problems but we all know visa's are dealt with on individual basis and that unfortunately brings uncertainity. Good Luck with your application.

Life / 2 months to go - I will be a Polish citizen and try to find a better place to raise my kid. [67]

I don't know where in Europe you're planning to go but i bet you've painted a rosy picture of what lies ahead, haven't you? I really hope you're not that naive to think that anywhere(EU) is good but Poland. You're only guaranteed free entry into the EUwith the Polish PP, How you start your life after that is a completely different story which i hope you get to tell us some day here on PF. If i were you, i wouldnt burn your bridges - if you catch my drift! Good luck!

Polonia / Hotel/Apartment accomodation in Dubai......any recommendations? [6]

visa requirements for Polish nationals before you book

Contrary to some vibes posted here on PF, I got the Dubai Visa with no problems at all. I used the online application service and got my e-Visa the following day.

But then again, we know visa applications are very contetious. Different scenario, different situation hence different outcomes.

Travel / Very dangerous defrauding trend started in some hotels in Krakow [49]

Delph & Harry - I'll tell you how you can open a bank account/credit cards with a Passport photocopy.
Say your PP photcopy falls into the hands of those organised gangs, somewhere in russia or ukraine or anywhere in the world as a matter of fact!

All they do is get a brand new fake passport with your details in it but with some one else's picture. Now, that is Identity thefty by definition. What they decide to use the fake passport for is any one's guess.

Here in the UK, i've known people who have accumulated huge debt bills and they haven't got a clue why they owe on credit cards and store cards.

Debit cards are a no go for these criminals because literally, you spend what you' ve got in bank not the credit. So yeah - In a nutshell, A passport photocopy, and any sort of proof of address is literally enough to have your identity stolen. However, you don't just find these criminals on the street, as they're running a multi-million pound 'business'. So what the OP is suggesting is somewhat a red-herring as these people are very thorough and wouldn't risk such exposure!

this is how these criminals start owning their own hotels in krakow

May be but i would have thought Poland some sort of vetting system used to eliminate such elements of society. Aren't you underestimating the country's Intelligency service? Surely, it can't be that easy, is it?

Where do they get a brand new fake passport from?

Are you that naive to actually think there's no fake passports? the funny thing is they're so genuinely done that you can't actually tell the difference with a naked eye.

many of these people have actually run up huge bills quite intentionally - often without the knowledge of the partner, who would understandably murder them.

True that and these cases are probably the majority. However, i've also witnessed severe identity fraud cases. i know some one who has received a bank statement of an account he's never opened, and here's a surprise for you, it was £7000 overdrawn!

Yes, the UK media has given it alot of hype but i think it has also raised the awareness amongst people to look after their personal details especially online.

I know identity fraud is happening out there but not on the scale the OP is making us believe!

Not just clones a credit card and buys stuff until you notice, cancel the card, get your money back and they move onto someone else

Thats pretty much it really, save for the distress and inconvenience that comes with it. Most of these debts are written off by the banks if the victims can prove beyond reasonable doubt that they weren't at fault. Still, it's a horrible experience to go through.

Travel / A week in Krakow (February) - info about weather, hotels, and traffic [28]

Krakow rocks!

Best statement on this thread. I couldn't agree more. Funnily enough, i've seen women wear normal boots during winter.....it's the salt residue on the boots you should be worried about.

Apparently it causes extensive tear & wear! i always wear my Timbs, now thats a boot when in need.

Love / Polish relationships (race and religion) [140]

by chosing

And this is the definition of choosing....as described by the online dictionary.
1. To select from a number of possible alternatives; decide on and pick out.
2. To prefer above others: chooses the supermarket over the neighborhood grocery store.
3. To determine or decide: chose to fly rather than drive.

Moral of the post - It's in everyone's right to choose how they live their lives. Just as you chose to be a moron, we don't question that, it's your choice!

UK, Ireland / Polish people in Wales - some questions about living in the UK [19]

so not too big like for a city...

No, not at all.

I agree but it's all about employment opportunities, isn't it? Cardiff being a Capital city has a higher resource pulling power, and with that comes competition for jobs. It could be that the Poles find it much easier to get work in lesser populated towns.

To be honest, i thought 1000 was a significant number!

News / John Godson, born in Nigeria, might become Poland Sejm's first black deputy! [313]

Zbigniew Brzeziński, - political scientist, advisor to US President Jimmy Carter.
Marian P. Opala, - Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court (RIP)

These are 2 very prominent, competent American Polish politicians who were born in Poland but went on to have successful political careers in the US. There are naturalised citizens all over the world that have had successful careers in different disciplines with great service to their new home (Teachers, footballers, entrepreneurs... etc).

Mr Godson is a Polish citizen (he lives & pays his taxes in PL), he therefore has every right to join the sejm. The guy has acquired this status on merit rather than PC BS, just like any other naturalised citizens.

Have faith people, give the guy a chance and then after that you can say all you want.

Just wait until you have an influx of lowlife blacks and all the issues they bring and then get back to us.

Yeah right, like Mr Godson runs Polish embassies outside the EU!. A simple fact about EU visa applications, You either qualify to get it or you don't.

Good Luck, Mr Godson!
