Not meaning to just point out negatives but some negatives Iv seen on two of my visits are;

Drunk old people.

Shop keepers can seem glum and not that I agree with the OP but well, I did see a few shop keepers that I did seem to have just annoyed them by even buying water.

On a whole though I love Poland, every places has its negatives, these are just some stuff iv noticed on two stays in a south eastern polish town near the Ukraine border, and my points are just stuff iv noticed when i compare it with life in Ireland.

And I mean it... lots of drunk old people.

Been in przemysl twice so far, it has quite a large and frequent bus service if your only looking to travel whiten Przemysl.

On a side note: In Rzeszów airport (90kM away) I seen a hertz desk and another polish car hire company although I forget the name,

Yeah they're quite common their is a taxi rank at the train station (Near the a few buero de change's [kantory])

Just asked my girlfriend (Who is from Przemyśl) they're buses to Tarnawce. You might want to look up bus routes to Krasiczyn castle as its on the way.

The town has a very good bus service with three bus company's that I remember (DamiTrans, PKS & MZK) PKS Definitely serves this route.

Buses cost 2.50Z£ on the bus or in shop tickets are 2Z£

As for cemetery, if you are referring to the very large one on the hill it is also served by bus and there is a beautiful bar across from it, there's a outdoor area at the front beside the road (Across from a bus stop) with somewhat of a metal frame covered from view by loads of grape vines growing down, it looks magnificent and when I was their last week the grapes where just starting to get big still green.

I am traveling there with about 5 other eighteen year olds during the summer and am wondering what we can expect to do.

What is the night life like and such and is it hard to arrange day trips to places such as Auschwitz and the salt mines?

Do supermarkets do slabs in poland at discounted rates. Ie. 24/20 cans or bottles.

The only time I've even seen drunken people staggering in Poland is homeless people or the elderly who seem to have noting better to be doing, and this is in the south east of Poland bordering the Ukraine. Lovely town just something I noticed.

Ahhh okay at first I miss-understood what you meant by "lad" culture. Where I'm from - the south east of Ireland, addressing someone as "lad" is just as normal as "mate" is in Australia.

Eg; "Well lad, going to town on Saturday?" or "Me and a few of the lads, are going down to the pub this evening if you want to come"

And after reading that statement I assume by "lad" culture you are refering to hooliganism/Chav culture/Scumbags ect ect teenagers just being anti-social pricks annoying and causing hassle for the rest of society?

I'll keep that in mind, but where not exactly rough people of sorts, and being a "educated foreigner" not to sound arrogant I'd hope police would be smart enough not to go assaulting physically. There would be a difference between a busker or a homeless person as they aren't going to show up at an embassy with complaints.

In short just saying I'd hope my doubts that a policeman would physically assault a foreigner are well founded on the basis that politically they have far louder a voice than a busker or homeless person and complaints to the right people can result in there job loss, and believe me I don't mean to sound arrogant nor do I claim to have "connections in high places"

The best way to find prices of alcohol in Poland is going on a popular supermarket chain such as;

Alma.pl then entering the post code of where you wish to travel - Zakopane; 34-500 I believe.

Then just browse there website to the alcohol section where you can see prices in zł.

True, True - But I guess that's true with all country's when your a guest there.

Sher, we'll have to bring the Barrys tea with us, I was looking at hypermarkets there's an "alma" near one of the apartments were planing on renting and they have a nice variety of whiskeys - although mostly imported so more expensive anyway I befriended a pole quite a while ago since then have become more fond of vodka than whiskey.

(Alma24.pl) (Yes I have enough spare time to go search for supermarkets to get an idea of drink turns out if 5 of us lads contributed 25 euro each we would get something like 30*4Packs of Tyskie and 6 various bottles of vodka - shocked to say the least)

We will be going in July (as I failed to mention) after our leaving cert's 5 other lads and my girlfriend. Spending 11 days in Zakopane then 2 days in my girlfriend down - Przemyśl.

Unfortunately as of yet none of us have a full license but if someone pulled one out of the bag before July we would go for renting a car, but the insurance might be ridiculous for a foreign tourist who just got there license.

As for stuff to do I cant see a problem with this,

Mountain Biking
Quading
Mountain climbing (Bit pricey)
Rafting

To be fair, all the places we've been looking at are fairly classy ending up at only around 160 euro each for us for the eleven days but I suppose thats something substantial considering its almost 4000zl for a person living and working in an economy such as Poland.

We always planned on renting out an apartment or house. The two houses we tried to contact where already booked out for the July and august. . . There's a nice apartment free for that period that I might consider If I cant find another house.

My concern with an apartment is - we are going to be fairly loud and I don't want to annoy people/Get noise complaints.

And as for the spirits discussion, When in Rome(Poland) etc etc, Vodka it is.

And on a side note; If by cultured you mean not a load of scumbag twats you've hit the right note. But besides that me and my friends aren't exactly the "Club and bangin toones" crowd, so Ibiza has no appeal to any of us.

Also Lviv, Ill keep that idea for another trip I think we will be fairly busy for the time we have planned.

As regards to bringing home drink. Przemyśl is on the border of the ukarine thus cheap fags and drink at a "car boot sale" equivalent. They'll be going in my check-in luggage and ill take advantage of the duty free.

Apple or pear I can get over here, but Smirnoff Black Lable is hard to get in Ireland (Yes I know it's smirnoff still) also Belvedere or Chopin Vodka I wouldn't mind. Wouldn't mind bringing some wisniowa home either.

Have to say maybe its just where I live but alot of people are choosing to go to Australia, I know about 12 people who left and are gone to Australia. None who have left Ireland for another country.
