I have read what people from Smolensk write about plane crash on local forum here forum.smolensk.ws/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48375 and it's interesting that they say that weather that morning was initially quite clear but later suddenly deteriorated to such an extent that as one guy nicknamed Belikov put it in a message sent at 11.32 am local time (plane crashed had occured about 10.50 am): Fog is so thick that I can hardly see ground from my 9th floor flat's balcony.

So the weather had deteriorated quite much, suddenly and exactly at time and the place where presedential plane was supposed to land. And if you are supersticious enough then your imagination could produce whatever - from Joseph Stalin's spirit in woods to God's hand in sky depending on how much you like or dislike the people onboard.

There are at least two things which does not fit into the version that the Russians who alive would do it:

1. They would not try to divert flight to other cities then.
2. They would not need it as this president was likely to lose next elections.

Can that fog be responsible?

Yes, I believe so.
On the picture of the crash site taken from satellite it can be seen that plane was likely to approach from aside at acute angle, i.e it took wrong direction and got into woods (it's well seen on the picture that a borderline between field and woods is where plane's parts scattering starts and further into woods, where bigger parts lie, it finishes) instead of approaching airbase from direction where there are no woods. Maybe plane had approached airbase even from wrong end - it's hard to say at the moment what pilot really had seen.

Anyway I suppose that pilot might not see airbase well indeed due to thick fog.

But going slow during landing approach, before hitting anything, the fog looks light enough from what I've seen, that a decent pilot would have seen the mistake and lifted back up for another attempt.

I suppose that fog looks lighter on the pictures and videos of crash site in Web than it was at the time of crash (about 10.50 am local time).

I have already mentioned on the previous page of this thread that a local guy wrote at 11.32 local time on a Smolensk forum (down the page here) forum.smolensk.ws/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48375

that fog is so thick that he can hardly see ground from his 9th floor flat.

I really feel sorry for an air traffic controller who was obliged to assist such pilots.

He said them that there are no conditions for landing and suggested to divert.They did not and crashed. Now he is questioned by prosecutors and blamed by some Polish MP for politically motivated attempts to spoil a ceremony.

If you suggest that plane's contact with aerial which pilot might not see in the fog had possibly changed direction of the landing approach then I agree with you.

There are THOUSANDS of planes every day landing on very bad weather conditions.

Although 'very bad weather' is a poorly defined term and can mean whatsoever to different people.

In fact, pilots are not advised to land in the conditions below minimal ones which vary for different planes and airports.

As far as I know, minimal visibility allowed for landing of Tu154 in Severnu airbase, Smolensk is about 1000 meters meanwhile actual visibility was about 400 meters which is much below minimum.

Tusk is next Putin puppet.

Putin is not that Almighty. IMO, there is actually some profound sense behind the fact that ideologically motivated politicians (Churchill,..., Thatcher, ..., Bush, Yuschenko, Kaczynsky etc) do not convince majority of electorate in the times of peace meanwhile pragmatic politicians do.

I'm not saying I believe everything Henry Makow says here, but it is very interesting.

I wonder what other people think about this?

In Internet age we surely have more data to think about than it was in 1940. Watching how easily conspiracy theories about 'Katyn-2' are disproved now I actually start wondering how much 'Katyn-1' story is reliable?

An answer to the question of how do you trust a russian?

Well, there was (and still is) so much mistrust between basically all neighbours in Europe and outside in history. Could anyone name at least two European countries that had never fought and/or hated each other sometimes? I fail to see any such.

Perhaps not.

I just have noticed that you've chosen for hate a country which you cannot win. It's just beyond your limits. (For example, Britain and the US choose opposite normally). I wonder, whether it's poor planning (like it was with LK's unlucky flight, in my opinion) or anything else.
