Polonia / What About The Poles In The Netherlands? [102]

M-G, try the Betuwe (for the non-Dutch, the fruit region in the middle of the Netherlands) and the provinces of North-Brabant (agriculture) and Limburg (building, with great access to Germany).

As for myself, I live in Geldermalsen (in the heart of the Betuwe) and I can practise my Polish in the local Lidl and Aldi :). Of course there are a lot of Polish people working in fruit picking, but we also have a substantial number of self-employed builders and quite a lot of lorry drivers.

Even the owner of our local off-licence is learning Polish so she can communicate with her customers more easily. And she is selling Polish beer and other alcohol as well :D.

History / Lord Conway's rule and Poland in 1772 [35]

No, Jeden ... that's true! We will never understand this loyalty to the Nazi's. Seems to me that you shot yourself in the foot, didn't you :D?

Travel / Why some travelers hate Poland? [45]

Come on ... she's just a nutter.

"... anyone who drove by in those days" - in what? Their cars?
"... there are people living all around the camp ... " - So?
"... and there was even a person walking their dog right outside the fence of the camp." - Well, this person had the decency not to walk the dog inside the camp.

And she generalizes everything. She had one bad experience with a little boy, a Polish-Jewish girl told her something and suddenly the whole of Poland sux. It seems to me she is not an example of the brightest person on the block.

Travel / Driving to Poland from England - any tips? [264]

c15mac

Take a plane ... GBP 243 for you and your family return ticket with Wizzair from for example Luton to Katowice, then rent a car with for example express.pl for 18 or 25 E a day with free mileage. No hassle with your own car and probably all in all cheaper as well. You can even rent a local satnav.

Don't forget, you'll be using about 350 litres of fuel if driving from London (GBP1,20 in UK, E1,48 in B, E1,58 in NL and E1,40 in D), so it's actually a lot cheaper. And with the harsh winter we've had throughout Europe, you can expect hundreds of potholes (okay, not on the motorway) which can seriously damage your car.

History / Why did Hitler kill so many Jews in Poland? [261]

MareGaea

As someone who lives in the NL, I can second what M-G is saying. Although Wilders' party won in two cities, his party doesn't really seem to be interested to look for a coalition to form a city council.

What I meant about the jewish people not assimilating into polish life is that still after hundreds of years in predominant catholic country,

The same goes for a lot of Polish people living in the Netherlands, not that they are Jewish, but they don't accept the country in which they live, they stay seperate and keep their own traditions. And they don't learn the language either (since most of the Dutch speak English and German anyway, so why should they bother).

News / Russian air traffic controllers ignored communication protocol of Polish pilots? [194]

i wouldnt quote this source, gazeta wyborcza? constantly attacking Polish president and now crying we lost our best man, fcuking hypocrites!!!

So everyone who didn't agree with K's political ideas and are now united in mourning are hypocrites?! Wow ... ! Then Poland is suddenly full of them. Don't you think your statement is a little oversimplified?

I bet they are not Gazeta Wyborcza lemmings

Maybe they are people wanting to show their respect, no matter what their political background ... ? Hell, if I'd been in Wwa, I would have done the same thing. Does that make me a hypocrite ... ? Jee, you judge people quickly, don't you? And it is either black or white for you.

News / Is it possible that Polish president was assasinated? If so then, by whom? [921]

Okay ... so Poland’s chief prosecutor Andrzej Seremet has said something about the content of the black boxes. Military prosecutor Colonel Zbigniew Rzepa has called the recordings “dramatic”. Two Polish investigators ... not Russians. The contents of the BB's will be published.

Can we now stop the crap of blaming or accusing Russian investigators about holding back information? Can we now stop the crap of telling the rest of the world that the Russians wanted to kill LK? Or that they wanted to doctor (hahahaha) information on the black boxes?

Or do you believe that the Polish investigators are paid by the Russians to say so? Now give us all a break and stick to the FACTS.

Maybe snippets or fragments but not a transcript of the whole content and lawyers would insist on that in order to get the bigger picture.

"Investigators are to release the dramatic, and tragic, recordings of the last moments of the TU-154 flight which crashed in Smolensk, western Russia on Saturday killing Lech Kaczynski and 95 others. "

This according to thenews.

I read this as the complete recordings of the last moments will be published. I'm sorry, I can't read anything else in it.

News / Is it possible that Polish president was assasinated? If so then, by whom? [921]

Ahh ... and Colonel Krzysztof Parulski -PL (!!) investigator number 3- also had something to say. Now ... three in my humble opinion highly regarded investigators have given their statements. All paid by Russians to do so, or do you think they also want to know the truth?!

Edit:

By whom? By the Russians and the three PL-investigators. Please don't tell me that they won't cry foul if incorrect information is published ... .

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

It will be quiet on LK's funeral ... GB, IE, Scandinavian airspace is already closed. NL will close from 1900 today. B's will be progressively closed from 1430 today. And I've read that the north of D is also affected. It's unknown how long the closure will last but looking at the prevailing winds in the coming days, it doesn't look good.

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

listning what others leaders say about him:

Come on ... how stupid do you think we are? Here you come with a quote from Saakashvili, just after he died. Everybody will say good things about a prominent leader just after he dies. That's obvious, isn't it?

Secondly, I can find you favourable quotes on YouTube about a whole range of people, also people who are dubious to say the least. So it is hardly convincing, I am sorry.

sodomits

So ... here is the proof you are ranting and no one should take you seriously.

Lets see if I can get to Germany on Sunday...

I was scheduled to fly to Wroclaw tomorrow at 1430, but I am afraid I can shake it ... :(

the proof that you are a moron

Is that all you can say? Wow ... astonished about your intelligence, really!

one could see how affected he was by this death

one could see how affected he was by this death

All leaders showed their horror and sadness about the crash and his early demise. It is called decency and they would do it with everyone who would have been PL-president.

Leaders who will attend the ceremony

You can add następca tronu książę Willem-Alexander and premier Jan-Peter Balkenende.

facts

?? Facts? You call that facts? Hmm ... I am afraid I have to disagree, Olga. Don't you think that the Polish investigators who are there, wouldn't object heavily if they had the idea that the Russian investigators weren't completely open to them.

I think you are seeing ghosts, Olga. And ... the louder you shout abuse, the less believable you become, I'm afraid.

Russia is playing them for a fool

Neither did you answer my question whether you wouldn't agree that the Polish investigators, who work alongside the Russian investigators, wouldn't protest heavily (probably would even go to the press with it if relations between PL and RU are that tense) if they felt they were kept out of the loop.

I'm sorry ... I find your theories highly improbable.

News / Is it possible that Polish president was assasinated? If so then, by whom? [921]

Answer: Tusk. AKA pro-Russia puppet and likely allied with Putin in this. How convenient he was "invited" several days prior after having a big falling-out with Kaczynski.

Oh, come on ... now I truly believe you see a conspiracy behind everything, probably even behind the ash cloud over Western Europe. It must be the Russians as well ... :S. I'm afraid you have lost all credibility now.

News / Current airports situation after the volcano events in Poland [21]

Wroclaw is open

Convex ... are you absolutely sure? I see nothing landing over there. And their website still states "Following the volcanic eruption in Iceland all flights from and to Wroclaw Airport have been cancelled untill further notice."

And on LOT's website: "LOT cancels all flights until Tuesday 20 April, at midnight."

News / 1945-2010 Poles will march on Red square [66]

British not coming

Well ... I saw a lot of men in the Guards' summer outfit with bearskins on their heads "turning eyes right". So unless the Russians put some of their own in these uniforms, I am guessing the Brits were there. Well ... probably those who like complot theories have something else to talk about.

And you know what? I guess I saw AngelaM as well, which gives me reason to believe that at least there are people in this world, who don't only look at what happened in the past, but also try to look forward. Maybe a good idea for some on this forum as well.

Now don't come and whine that he or she lost family members because of what the Nazi's did and so they have the God-given right to still be outraged 65 years after VE-Day. So did my family, but generations change, you know. We have to be vigilant that history doesn't repeat itself, and some don't see that by excluding a whole nation, we are walking down the exact same path.

Have a look at this news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8452937.stm);why would even a radical muslim (whom quite a lot of the people here wouldn't even want as their next door neighbour), be able to forgive his Guantanamo guard when some of the people here (who haven't even lived through WWII) aren't able to look at current day Germans and Russians without wanting to hold them responsible for what their forefathers did?

Just a thought on this Sunday ... .

History / A General's Honour documentary, directed by Joanna Pieciukiewicz [5]

Does anyone know where I can download this documentary? Tried to look it up on NZB-sites but couldn't find it anywhere.

"Honor Generała" in Polish. From 2007, 53 minutes.

If there are stores (preferably in Wroclaw) where I can buy it, fine as well of course.

Thanks in advance.

History / Anita J. Prazmowska's "The Polish Century" [24]

First she writes a book on the betrayal of Poland (Britain and Poland 1939-1943: The Betrayed Ally), and then she bullshhits about the search for those responsible for Poland's tragedy shifts variously from Churchill to Stalin and to Roosevelt.

And how, if I might ask, are these contradictions? I am just asking ... .

Nice city

Yes ... right there.

If Polish people are in the Netherlands, be sure to visit the museum and the PL-war cemetery. Don't forget to take some form of ID with you, because the museum is located in an army barracks and you need one to be able to access it. Museum is open every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 1400 to 1700.

Travel / How can I get to Zlote tarasy - Warsaw? [14]

My question is how can i get from the airport to hotel Hilton.

Try MPT taxis. Don't be "tempted" by the guys inside the terminal. Just walk outside the terminal and have a look there. Costs about PLN 40-50.

Or take the 175-bus, PLN2,80 when you buy the ticket at the news stand inside the airport. Get off at Pl.Zawiszy (= Campanille hotel), then walk in NW-direction along Towarowa (they say it'll be partly sunny tomorrow in Wwa, so determining NW shouldn't be too difficult). After 600m main crossing with road named Prosta. Keep walking in NW-direction. Take 2nd right (= Grzybowska) and walk another 200m. Hotel is on your right hand side.

Distance airport to Hilton is about 11km, so a little too far to walk.

History / Anita J. Prazmowska's "The Polish Century" [24]

I was not since she's simply not honest, especially where she manufactures some completely made up claims in regards to non-existent polish anti-semitism and ignores the crimes of Jews on Poles that triggered polish retaliation.

On what do you base that claim?

Then again she's a direct descendant of a family of jewish communists who murdered Poles

And this one?
