I think it has to do with the Polish patriotism although you as a Polish person might not necessary live in Poland anymore, you still hold very strong ties with your country and your roots. That is important for anyone that has been born in other countries and has migrated to other countries to find a better life. It is part of their nationalism and being proud of who we are.
