Australia / How to import my car to Australia from Poland? [26]

Hi there
Me and my fionce we want to bring our stuff to Australia, one of those things is a car, We have checked that car as we got (Chrysler Pt cruiser -2001-73000km- RHD) will cost in OZ between 11- 15 grand, so with our budget it will a litte to much to spend for a car on the beginning. So we have the valuation of shipping from Poland to for 2000$, this will be a container 20. It will go with other our personal things. Can someone please tell us is this possible to import a car to Australia, and how much will this cost??? What kind of paper work we need to do with this. We will be very gratefull for all Your help. We are going to Perth on end of March 2010, and we have a 1year student visa for the beginning, but we want to do some 2 years more study over there.

If the car means that much to you then take it but if not sell it in the UK and buy yourselves a nice soft top to enjoy the Aussie weather Thats what i'll be doing :)

yeah, that will be great, but we have allready registered the car in Poland...
cose we thought we will stay in Poland after being in UK for 7years, we came back Home, and here- local and main gov. dont want you to invest your money and make new work places... they only want your money... so we decided to go Down Under ;))

the sunny place ;))

You need to pay 400 aud when the vehicle arrives in the country for cleaning and sterilising

what if I do this in Poland before the car goes in to container... will they accept that?

Just out of interest how did you manage to register a RHD car in Poland?

In our case this was just a normal procedure, but we know plenty of people who want to do this and, they local authorities wouldn't allow that. I guess that someone who registered our car in my city is much more open minded -and allready accepted fact that Poland is in EU...

Not like the rest of those Commie Bastards over here... They are happy when you cry ;

Thanks a loot for all your help, we hope to see some of you in Perth at end of the March ;))
ewa_marcin@interia.eu - any one have a place to stay for first mont or maybe longer? within BCD... - there is free communal transport?

why did you choose perth? it is quite possibly the hottest place in australia.

that's way we choose Perth, and it has less humidity than other very nice, but over populated big cities in AU ;)

theres this new stupid law comeing up that there cops can stop you on there street and search you for weapons for no reason

don't mind this at all, have nothing to hide ;)) and trouble maker walk away when they see me ;))) 112kg pure muscle.... and great brain skills to make trobles go away from me

;))

Anyway good luck with your trip and i'm sure like every other expat over there you won't regret it :)

we sure we wont ;)) the same for you - all the best...
