That would be the reaction that I found quite often as a native English speaker with minimal (at best) understanding of the Polish language during my stays there. In fact, I can't remember a single person being anything other than extremely friendly when I butchered their language.

I've been smoking Marlboros in Poland for the past month, prior to that for years in the states, and really haven't noticed much of a difference whatsoever. Then again, that may be attributed to the fact that 13 years of smoking has taken it's toll on my taste buds, throat and lungs...
