great grandfather was
Josef Schikora born 14 march 1867 died 21 feb 1933
great grandmother
Marianne Krowiorz born 1870 in Trembatschau

married 1 feb 1892 in Trembatschau
they had 10 children I have names but need birth places and dates of some.

Marianne Krowiorz father was name Joseph Krowiorz and all her sisters and brothers moved to the USA minnesota. we have lost contact with this side of the family over the last 25 years. I am in Vancouver Canada

Josef Schikora father was named Andreas Schikora from Glausche.

Thank you I knew Sikora it is a kind of bird. and I knew Krowiorz was to do with cows somehow. Its great to be sure of these.

Also I have found a couple of lost cousines in the USA so far from the Krowiorz side.

All my relatives on my fathers side are from Schlesien and I am starting to find records for the areas. I now have some back to the mid 1700's. Not bad since all i had to start with was a couple of great grand parents names. from the late 1800's.

This is why I need to be sure which town I am looking for.

and was married to Magd Maria FIOLKA born 1861
in 08 Jan 1893 in Trembatschau, Silesia, Germany ( Now is = Trebaczow, Kepinski, Wielkopolskie, Poland )

I know he had a wife before Magd Maria FIOLKA.

How do you people know that us from Silesia want to be part of Germany or Poland. Maybe we just want Silesia back. So we can just be ourself.

At this point in time would have to be Multilingual and then over time is own dialect would form again.
But first step is to rejoin the lands and bring the name Silesia back to the map.

All this talk of history is nice. But the seed for Silesia has always been there locked behind wall. But now the wall is gone and slowly the idea is growing stronger. It's only a matter of time.

No point in asking for it back..It is easier to just buy it back bit by bit...LOL

In fact if Silesia was free again and called back the people who were frorced out..It would be one of the riches countries in the world.

It is very easy to fix this..Germans buy western lands of poland then polish buy western land in russia and in 50 years we move the boarders back to pre 1946. And Silesia will be free again.

Ooops but my mistake here not all ex silesia people are from germany now days many live in other countries and look back at what germany and poland has done to there lost Heritage.

I consider Silesia my Heritage before german or polish.

It is funny how everyone talks of Germany or Polland and how they love to teach there own history..Yet Silesia is wiped from the face of the map.

Are you that naive? If your country disappears from the map, you're taught in Polish at school, you're thaught Polish history from the Polish point of view, you have to speak in Polish to your classmates, pray in Polish at religion classes, deal in offices in Polish... In a second or third generation - how much there's left of your "Silesianess"?

They are not only in Germany. There are Silesian's around the the world watching. You can not just wipe a place off the map and hope everyone forgets it was there.

This boarder has moved so many times no one knows who's polish or whos german.
There is no way to tell what they felt like in 1800 unless you find a diary of day to day life.

But wasn't there a referendum once already? Who would vote in the new referendum? Only the people living there now, or also the the people who were forced to move out? (not many still alive so maybe there children could vote?) After all if you have past family born in Silesia back to the 1700's or earlier, I think there should be some kind of rights for this. Not only german Silesian were force to move after the war but also germanized poles (and what is a germanized pole. 1/2 geramn 1/2 pole by marrage or a pole who learned to speak german?).

And Silesia is now in 3 parts by the way.
