Love / My husband going to Poland after gotten his green card. Dreading his visit home to mom. [20]

I really think you're over-analysing things which will probably turn out to cause no problem whatsoever but thats what women do :)

People(as with many other animals) are quite capable of existing in 2 separate environments, with 2 completely different sets of rules, and living to tell the tale. When your man comes back after his trip he'll almost certainly just slot right back into the way things were before and you'll wonder what all the womanly fuss was about.

Give the guy a break & just let him enjoy his trip home. 6yrs is a long long time.

Love / English girl moving to Poland with my Polish boyfriend for the first time [69]

Native speakers can easily command 1zl/min and there is no shortage of willing students so work really shouldn't be a problem.

BTW, Forfour44, please PLEASE tell me that you don't teach people to say "What is an ok wage." It is my pet hate extraordinaire and I don't know why so many Polish people say it- tell them to use "which" for definitions! PLEASE!

Is that a difference between English and American teaching methods? Like that US quiz show..

As far as I am concerned, it is just wrong. I have never heard ANYONE outside Poland, British OR American, say:

"This is the shirt what I bought last week."

I mean, come on, it sounds absolutely terrible! The person who introduced it to unwitting Polish students should be thoroughly ashamed of him/herself.

UK, Ireland / The "Rodzina na swoim" program - do we qualify if we get married in the UK? [2]

I and my fiancee have applied for a mortgage here in Poland and we have 1 or 2 offers which are subject to us being married. The question is: Can we get married in the UK and still qualify for the Polish government's "Rodzina na swoim" programme?

Some people say yes, some no. Personally, I see no reason why it shouldn't be possible because (1) both countries are in the EU, and (2) Polish couples frequently get married outside Poland- e.g. in Egypt, Majorca etc. Does the Polish government exclude these people just because they want to get married in the sun?

If anyone has any past experience of this or some in-depth knowledge, I'd really appreciate a definitive answer on this.
