Life / Prices of cars in Poland? [88]

the prices are dropping fast in poland at the moment

About time too, I've noticed second hand car prices in Poland seem expensive compared to here in the UK. I've also noticed a lack of quality stock (Mercedes/BMW/Lexus etc) so perhaps this is one reason for the higher prices?

A couple of years ago I looked into buying a Merc SL500 over there but couldn't find very many and the ones I did find were not in very good condition and also seemed expensive compared to RHD models.

I think you're a little mixed up. Firstly, Mainland Europe drive left hand drive and in the UK it's right hand drive.

I was wondering why cars in Poland are expensive. They drive LHD in Poland just like the rest of Europe and the production of LHD vehicles vastly outweighs RHD. Manufacturers build more LHD cars so there is much more stock and the rules of supply and demand would suggest that this would depress prices because there are thousands more of every single car model to choose from, but it doesn't in Poland, cars seem to be more expensive there, so why is this?

This doesn't take into account the ease of transporting and importing cars across Europe e.g. you could buy a LHD car in Italy and drive it back to Poland, which means there is the whole of Europe to choose from when buying a car, so why don't Polish people buy cars in a cheaper country and drive them home?

We are unable to do this here in the UK, we only have here (and South Africa, Australia & New Zealand though shipping and importing costs make this non-viable) to buy our cars from and yet prices seem cheaper than in Poland.
