There's no Polish embassy in your mother country. If you're in Malesia try to contact the Malesian offices and ask about visa. Otherwise, you will have to contact Embassy in New Delhi, India.

Travel / Driving to Poland from England - any tips? [264]

im travelling to ostrowiec its 50km from kielce i think

So it's kinda south of Poland. I was driving from Poland to England 2 years ago, I think not much has been changed on the road. Well, roads are pretty cool, most of them are free. At least I remember there's no speed limits in Germany..

How much you think it will cost in petrol.

Prices are pretty similar in whole EU. That was about 4,70 PLN / Liter few days ago in Poland.

Life / I'm British in Poland and I think that it's time to go back to the UK! [240]

dnz,

You can get your PESEL if you live here for more than 2 months. Just go to Urzad Miasta, find a room/department called "Ewidencja Ludności", or if there's no office like that, try to ask in "Sprawy obywatelskie" or something similar..

Before you'll fill the document, prepare a maiden name of your parent. I don't know is it still necessary but it was years ago. You will get your PESEL in 3-4 weeks.

After you will finally get your PESEL, you can apply for Resident Card (Karta Stalego Pobytu). Card might be helpful in renting cars etc.. as it's your official document.

Travel / Getting from Krakow to Warsaw [99]

136 PLN? No way... I traveled by InterCity on Wroclaw-Warsaw for about 70 PLN, that was back in 2007.

History / What Was Poland like in the year 1988? [50]

You needed special permission from the government to buy a food (kartki), not mentioning the fact that there was no food in the shops and if you wanted to buy something you had to spend hours in the queue. Police brutality, no democracy, spies everywhere spying everything you do.

Dark place and unhappy people who fought the dictatorship giant without single weapon a year later.
