Life / Polish dubbing in movies; why is it so that on polish television all the films are dubbed? [135]

My gf likes the lecturn. I can't stand it. Cyfra+ does give you the option, wish the polish stations would too. In movies sound also plays a part. With the lecturn it's like watching pictures with a monotone voice. Guess Polish are so used to it they like it. I'd love to have that guys job. He must be one of the richest guys in Poland. He does every show and movie that is not in Polish.

USA, Canada / Polish Citizen, US legal resident, but no Polish Passport... [67]

Your not a citizen of the U.S. so it's impossible for you to have a American passport. Seems you have a huge problem on your hands. Your mother is really to blame for this. Does she still have her old passport? I don't know what to advise to you. You seem pretty screwed with this one. The only ones who can solve this is the polish consulate. Might need to take a trip to Chicago with all the proof you have.

No your not, however reading many threads related to today's events you normally show your prejudice based on events from 25 years ago. That does not relate to today or have much relevance. I'm sure I'm not the first to point this out to you. Many of your comments are the equivalent of something like, British have a very low level of computer literacy because 25 years ago no one used them. You post a lot of hatred towards Polish based on the way it was, not the way it is.

Life / Internet / Telephone provider in Krakow [28]

Well you can get different services, but TP "neostrada" owns the monopoly on the phone lines and networks in all of Poland. With the exception of GHNet and UPC, the rest have to deal with TP in some shape or form. For example netia has to ask for permission from TP to use their lines, then they can resell the service to you. It can take a minimum of two weeks just to get TP to sign off on that transfer.

TP's customer service is horrible. But when you have a monopoly does it really matter? Netia I hear has better customer service, but you have to deal with TP initially when signing up. Netia handles all that, but you still have to wait for the great people at TP to actually do something.

GHNet and UPC have their own networks I believe, but they don't cover a large area. So if your lucky they might offer a service where you live, but they most likely won't.

TP is the only company I know that actually offers this. UPC is limited on their coverage. So they might not even offer their services in your area.
