News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

even Jarosław Kaczyński voted for him.

It's very interesting how Kaczyński's voting record is ignored by PiS supporters these days. For instance, Kaczyński also voted for the very constitution that he now has ordered his minions to break repeatedly.

Except KOD haven't spewed any abuse, lies and insults. Could you perhaps link us to some?

There was a great example of someone manipulating a KOD banner. It was swiftly and quickly discredited as a very crude forgery - and that's what the democratic opposition have to deal with.

News / Poland's election winning party: PIS proclamations [229]

Just as predicted, PiS are yet again raising taxes on the sly. Now it's car insurance - we can all expect to pay 6% more for compulsory third party insurance.

natemat.pl/167915,radziwill-przywroci-podatek-religi-kierowcy-zaplaca-wiecej-za-oc-by-pomoc-ofiarom-wypadkow

So much for the claim that PiS will cut taxes :D They're raising taxes left/right/centre, just not the headline grabbing ones.

The beautiful thing is that English is an international language and PF also has an excellent place on Google, so anyone looking for information about KOD will come on here and find a torrent of abuse, lies and insults from PiS supporters and conclude that KOD must be right.

Poor Ironside.

News / Confessions of a paid hater / troll in Poland [42]

Anybody who wants a good laugh should read the English version here

Anyone with even the slightest understanding of political strategy knows that you never write such hideously biased and badly written e-mails :D

Still, keep going PiS - the more MEP's that get such e-mails, the more they'll start to investigate why someone feels the need to send them e-mails saying "everything is fine". I'd be highly suspicious if I started getting e-mails from clients telling me that everything was fine!

Certainly there were a good deal more younger people than the last time.

Yes, it's encouraging as to what's happening. But we need to remember that Poland is not just Katowice, Warsaw, etc etc - we need demonstrations in every large and small town across the country.

I wonder how long before we see any changes to what's on our TV screens?

Stuff is changing already - journalists/hosts are getting fired and replaced very quickly. They're even replacing hosts on meaningless breakfast TV, which shows that it really is jobs for the boys.

Polonia / Should Poles help Germans organize protests demanding free media ? [136]

Interesting to note that the CDU stepped in to complain and accusing the German press of forming a cartel!!!!!

The CSU isn't the CDU, they are sister parties - and the CSU is only active in Bavaria. For instance, the CSU's Transport Minister was the one demanding the PKW-Maut which the CDU was against - but the CSU demanded it as a condition of entering the coalition. The CSU is much more socially and financially conservative than the CDU.

Something does not add up here

You need to know that there's no Federal broadcaster in Germany. Broadcasting is constitutionally a matter for the individual states, and ZDF is a channel created as an alliance between the individual state broadcasting companies. Hence the comments about a "cartel", because the CSU is suggesting that ZDF is controlled by rival political elements that hushed up the news.

Indeed. Greggy and the rest of the PiS activists here are so hung up on the demonstrations that they really don't understand what KOD is actually doing. Needless to say, the evidence against Duda is mounting.

News / Confessions of a paid hater / troll in Poland [42]

democracy in Poland is not endangered, and it was the previous government, the PO-PSL coalition, that was most dangerous to democracy.

Indeed. They're getting very annoyed, as two minutes research shows that it comes from niezależna.pl - which just so happens to be controlled by PiS! Still, the fact that they're getting such e-mails will certainly ensure that many MEP's start to show an interest in Polish affairs, which is entirely not what PiS wants. Good job boys!

News / Restoring the Port of Elbląg? [113]

Of course they are. This "project" provides jobs for the boys while not doing anything.

and appealing to Russophobia.

Yep, nothing like putting forward a blatant Russiophobic public image while actually doing everything pro-Putin in the background.

Amazing that people are so stupid that they believe this.

She might fail the year, oh no!

More to the point, it shows your way of thinking if you think that political assassinations are on the agenda. Fortunately, no-one within KOD thinks like you.

News / Restoring the Port of Elbląg? [113]

Notice how Greggy tries to take every single thread about PiS incompetence/corruption onto PO.

Take your paid activism elsewhere. This is about PiS setting up yet another initiative to plunder the nation on behalf of people that support Kaczyński.

It transpires that his daughter is studying law at UJ, and of course, his former colleagues think he's a disgrace. Should've thought about that before you decided to completely ignore the law, eh Duda?

Yes, they're defending the trough against PiS, no wonder PiS hates the constitution - it puts limits on their ability to plunder....

That's exactly why we're against PiS. Anyone with a brain can see that it's very much a Party that provides great career opportunities for the loyal, regardless of actual talent or knowledge.

Still, these demonstrations are achieving great press coverage abroad, which in turn is piling the pressure on PiS. I read today that Duda is now suffering from mild depression because of just how negative the public are towards him.

Law / PESEL urgently need - Current order of applications? [10]

I lately heard from some people, they stopped giving PESEL number to foreigners except for people who have permanent residence card, in the past when you register yourself in Urzad Miasta you were able to tell them you would like to have a PESEL number and after a few weeks you could go back and ask them for PESEL confirmation..

It's the case for non-EU citizens for certain. Not sure about EU citizens.

Anyway, the reason is that your ID card number functions as your PESEL on governmental databases.

News / Restoring the Port of Elbląg? [113]

There won't be any money at all from the EU for a project that will destroy a Natura 2000 site.

It will be a typical PiS project - it will make lots of jobs for the boys, nothing will actually get built and vague excuses about "PO/KOD/Petru/some farmer in Dolnoslaskie stopped us" will be made.

The fact that it's a Natura 2000 site will guarantee that it won't go ahead.

Indeed, and all political factions are seeing that.

It surprises me that political parties here simply don't see the value in actually engaging with their electorate in the way that American politicians do.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

I'd like an opinion from Delph on this.

It's a question that we discussed here in quite a lot of detail. There's no good answer for it - the youth aren't behind PiS in any number, and the only politically active youth are blindly supporting Kukiz/Korwin, but the numbers are still tiny compared to the total youth electorate. There's a whole lost generation here, and I don't have any clever answer.

My own theory is that there's something with the educational system that is alienating the youth voters. While the schooling system from 3-16 is fine, there's something broken in high schools and universities that leads to a huge amount of apathy. Look at the student self governments here in universities - they're absolutely spineless and toothless compared to their French, German or British peers. But it goes from the beginning - I've done some research into student self governments in schools, and it's quite remarkable how teachers shape and mould them in their own personal vision as opposed to letting them be genuinely independent.

It's also worth pointing out that schools have very little in the way of current affairs education - kids simply don't have much of a forum to learn about these things, so they tend to take their views from their parents. If their parents are alienated, it's likely that the kids are too. In my own workplace, there was almost no attention paid to the election by the kids - it was only after the election that they started to realise that they might be stuck in primary school for 8 years and not 6.

PiS won't change things - in fact, pushing more "Polishness" and history onto the youth might make them even less interested. I know from the kids in school - the average 11/12 year old simply couldn't care less about any fuzzy notion of patriotism. They listen to music from all over the world, they don't think of "us" and "them" in the way that a PiS voter might - they have a completely different view that politicians simply don't understand.

If you ask me, the biggest problem KOD has is with the youth. Getting the 30+ generation out is easy - getting the 18-30 generation on the streets is much, much harder - and yet vital.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

I have posted this listing of 500 PO scams and muckups before, but you probably don't read Polish fluently.

That list contains many blatant lies. It's just yet another work produced by PiS in an attempt to discredit PO.

Just for kicks though Polonius - 15.01, 15.02 and 15.03. Remind us what PiS will bring into law surrounding surveillance of internet users? Ah yes, the law that allows for the security services to spy on internet users without their permission!

News / Confessions of a paid hater / troll in Poland [42]

Apparently they're using 600 people to do this now.

Quite believable, given that they need to maintain the image of Poland being at threat from 'enemies'. It's a tried and tested tactic of those that wish to undermine democracy on both sides of the political spectrum.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Exactly. Another good day of pro-democracy protests and it looks like this will be a regular feature until democracy is restored.

As I said, the interesting thing is that you can see that PiS are reacting in a very predictable way - their media and paid trolls are all over the internet screaming about KOD, but all it's doing is pushing even their voters against them.

And if PO was so terrible, then please give some concrete examples of corruption and robbing the public coffers.

There are no concrete examples, because Greggy is a PiS activist and therefore facts are lacking when they're involved.

News / Poland bets on Russian oil again [82]

No wonder the people of Poland are at the mercy of Russia.

Most of it is tax, though - around 70-75% of the total cost at the minute is tax. There are minimum tax rates in the European Union, and Polish fuel is at the minimum possible from what I remember. It's the cheapest in the European Union and cheaper than a lot of other non-EU countries too.

Don't worry, I'm very optimistic, because what's being prepared now is much more than just people on the streets every Saturday. You're too busy worrying about Petru and other politicians, which suits us just fine ;)

PiS can rule for 4 years. Works for me - 4 years of genuine ruin being brought to Poland should be enough to eliminate the pseudo-communist PiS forever.

The stage-directed end results shows purportedly spontaneous crowds taking part in allegedly spontaneous protests and chanting what are said to be spontaneous slogans with no Petru, Kurski, Blumenstein or other cheerleader leading and starting the chants!

Polonius, Polonius... just because PiS have been organising heavily stage managed "demonstrations" for 8 years doesn't mean that everyone else is, too. These protests are very organic in nature - if you knew anything about how they're organised, you'd know that there's a total absence of anything being stage managed. It's quite normal for random people to get up and say something - it's all very messy and spontaneous. Of course, we're working behind the scenes to increase the numbers present, but many demonstrations are organised by non-political people who are simply unhappy with what the government is doing.

away from the post-nomenlatura elites

...and towards the nomeklatura who have direct experience of working with Russia.
