entering government

Dunno where you get your strange veneration for the sly peasant/hayseed mob -- PSL. Believe me, they will jump into bed with anyone to stay in power Promise them the farm and labour ministries and a deputy premiership and they won't blink an eye-lash about joining a PiS-led coalition. They have even stooped so low in the past as to join the blood-stained ex-reds!

the latest poll

OK, I tracked it down online. It was in "Fakt": PiS got 42%, PO 27.7% and ex-commies 8.8%. No-one else got in. The good thing is that PiS could go it alone and secondly -- PO would be forced to jump into bed with the Polish nation's ex-tormentors, Soviet stooges and Katyń conspirators.*

* Every PZPR member was obliged to take part in the Katyń conspiracy of silence and/or Katyń lie.

Pretty clear

While queueing at the post office today I glimpsed the headline of one of the 2 tabloids showing the latest poll: PiS could go it alone with 42% backing which translated into 240 seats, PO got 22% or something around there and Kukiz was the only other grouping that made it in. Has anybodys seen that survey?

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

The highly divergent poll results show that nothing of any certainty can be said at present. The Komorowski theft and Macierewicz in Chicago "scandals" will soon be forgotten as new affairs come to the fore. It's obvious that PiS may win the election but not be able to form a government. But neither can one rule out that few if any of the small also-rans will clear the threshold. It's still a toss-up no matter who you slice it.

a viable government

So you're opposed to viable governments? Reckon that's your anarchic streak which explains why you advocate setting society on its head.

basic humanity of your political opponents

Ascribe it to PF's self-styled "progressives", although chaos creeps seems a more apt description. It is they who who call valiant, dedicated and patriotic Law and Justice "pisuary", label a prominent religious leader Mr Maybach" and refer to those they disagree with as "scumbags". I was just giving them a bit of their own medicine.

many electoral districts

Guess which one showed to most support for PO -- of course Washington, DC. Most fo the voters there were attached to the Polish embassy and consulate or were Polish trade official or lobbyists. They knew what side their bread was buttered on. But Chicago is the real patriotic Polonia who know their politics and will do aynthing to push the Platfusy away from the trough. Isn't 8 years enough to steal one's fill?

supporting them

Yes but few pro-POO Polonians. They'd have to be paid well to become a Platfus stooge. POO is a dirty word amongst PolAms, God bless 'em!

Platfusy

The latest IBRIS poll shows something quite different: PiS 32.4, PO 23.8, ZL 9.5, Petru 9.3, PSL 6.6 and Kukiz 5.8.

type of people

For all the money they have stolen from the Polish people the Platfusy can certainly afford to pay off some stooge to do their bidding, of course in such settings posing as a loyal PiS supporter.

Macierewic

Macierewicz's most controvesial statements were replies to questions from the floor including "Is it true Tusk was a Stasi agent?"
We shouldn't put it past the Platfusy to have planted paid provocateurs in the audience for the express surpose of compromising the opposition. I stress the word "paid" because no decent Polonian would want t'o have anything to do with the POO party for free.

POO party

The latest Millward Brown poll shows the Platfusy at one of their lowest levels - 19% with 35% for PiS. The ex-commies got 11%, Petru 8%, Kukiz and PSL 5% each.

scumbags

Can there be any greater scumbags than commies, ex-commies or any other type of leftist nutter with roots to Uncle Joe? Even Lepper and Giertych were better than the likes of PZPR Politburo member Miller and his red sidekick Czarzasty. Oh, I forgot, you must be one of those self-styled soft-on-communism "progressives"! They are known as "useful idiots".

Just the facts

Got some hard facts to prove Tusk was never connected with the Stasi? BTW that was a question from the floor which POO activists have blown way out of proportion. It's pure electioenering and the Flatfoot crook and scammer mob are good at that and propaganda in general. Uncle Joe wasn't too bad at that either!

PiS/PSL/Kukiz

Would PO stoop so low as to hook up wtih the ex-commies of Katyń conspiracy fame? Even the Platfusy, crooked and power greedy though they are, must have some scruples and at least some shred of honour.

neither links

Because that was my own, personal sum-up of what was happening -- the sum total of radio, televison, print media and the Internet. You'd like a lonmg litany of links, would you? It's all over the place, so only some lazy, nitpicking SOB would want somerone else to do his homework for him. Get off your d*pa and hunt about a bit. A little mental exercise will work wonders for your addled brain.

PO have promised

...you forgot to add "during the election campaign". That makes a whole world of difference!

Christ teaches

Christ never mentioned it not because it was unimportant but because it had already been described in the Old Testament as an abomination.
Those things that were not to apply to Christinaity Christ repudiated. For instance he rejected the Jewish claim that only Jews are chosen and goyim are inferior and not worthy of salvation. He also disavowesd the Pharisees' excessive attention to the letter of the law, rather than its spirit. The Old Testament provided men with a loophole to divorce their wives, Jesus was negatively disposed to it saying it showed Moses had caved into the pettiness of those wanting to put their wives aside. He did not take kindly to excessive fastidiousness about the Sabbath ( not being allowed to do this on the Lord's Day). He not only chased the money changers out of the temple but if He came back today He woull flail the nitpicking Harries of this world for their Sunday head-count obsession, motivated not by their genuine concern for His Church, but by their lust for a noisy polemic.

Bologna Agreement

What reasoning to they give for opposing it? I agree about Macierewicz, a diabolical-looking bloke at the very least. His opportunity was in1992. Had Olszewski been able to weather the storm, many PZPR and SB types would have been weeded out and maybe PiS would have no układy to combat and could devote themselves to more productive activities. True, teczki were incomplete, some possibly falsified but within 2-3 years that could have got sorted out. But it went the other way. Wałęsa's parliamentary coup resulted in that stillborn lustracja dragging on for years, leading to the Polish-Polish War and sapping much human time, energy and resources. Kaczyński could be kept on as honorary president but not in the forefront of things

Jehovah Witnesses

In Poland the Jehowici can run cirlces round most Poles who barely know the Bible. I am fairly well versed (no pun intended) and can hold my own with them. I never slam the door in their face, respect their commitment and am always ready to discuss. Once I told two missioanries there were so many different denominations because each one interprets the Bible differently, and they (two women) replied that the Bible should not be interpreted but taken literally. They had no answer to my question: Are the words 'Eat my body and drink my blood' therefore an appeal to cannibalism?

unrepenitent homophobia

The problem is in definition. If Chrsitianity teaches that sodomy and other forms of same-sex activity are a sin, that is not homophobia. Those that say it is are violating people's freedom of religion.

Hitler was a heathen at heart

Makes no difference. Christianity can be and has been instrumentally abused by believers, ex-believers or non-believers alike.

And God said unto Noah,

Divinely inspired does not mean everything msut be taken literally. The Jehovah Witnesses think so as do the American southland's Baptist bible-thumpers. But the Bible is also a great philosophical and literary work full of metaphors and parables. Although its message is universal, its original recipients were not intellectuals but farmers, fishermen and other simple people. Hence the predominance of everyday bucolic examples geared to the understanding of ordinary folk.

Kukiz is holding on though.

I'm not. Naturally he wasted many opportunites and made many blunders but the reason IMHO he is still over the wire is the extreme resentment his non-PiS backers feel towards the ruling establishment and PO in particular

I do not believe all those parties will get in. There's a good chance that ZL, PSL and Korwin will not. And that will enhance the chances of PiS going it alone.

divinely inspired

Hitler put "Gott mit uns" on his murderers' belt buckles. Anyone can abuse religion and many have. The crusaders did not write the Bible. The Borgio poisoner popes and the Richelieux (Richelieus? - forgot my French!) of this world were not following their faith. Remember: free will. God was not responsible for the Holocaust or the Crusades, evil people wrongly exercising their free will were.

Christianity teaches the Holy Writ was divinely inspired. I can't prove it but neither can you disprove it.

Genealogy / Leon Trozer. Looking for Polish family in Poland. [10]

German names

I couldn't find a single name currently used in Poland starting with Troz-. The closest were such things as: Troszczel Troszczeński Troszczewski Troszczyc Troszczyniec and Troszek.

But unless you have something more to go on like another document listing his original surname, I'm afraid you've reached a dead end.

Genealogy / The Name Michałowicz - East or West Slavic? [5]

(Mikhailovich, Mykhailovych

Michałowicz is a fairly common surname in Poland used by some 1,700 people. It is a name of patronymic origin whose English equivalent would be Michaelson. In one spelling or another the -icz/-wicz patronymic ending is common to the Polish, Russian and Ruthenian (Belarusian, Ukrainian) languages and other Slavonic tongues. Mikhailovich is the Latin transcription of the Russian version and Mykhailovych is Ruthenian. Fewer than 3 dozen people in Poland sign themselves Michajłowicz, the Polish transliteration of the Russian

You may be itnerested to know there were nobles amongst Poland's Michałowiczes with a coat of arms to prove it.

USA, Canada / American Polonia. Wisconsin - the most Polish state? [112]

how is this determined?

I believe that some censuses include a self-declaration of ethnicity. The 2000 one certainly did. It's a crying shame it's not every time. Many Italo-Americans, Polonians and others don't like to be lumped in as simply "whites".

few swear words

That's quite typical of 3rd-generaiótion PolAms who know a few swear wrods, the names of a few dishes and a few random expressions such as "jak się masz?, "ja cię kocham", "daj mi buzi" and "dzień dobry".

sick pervs

I believe Pope Francis said about 10% of priests were homosexual. That would be 5 times the average 2% in overall populations. Certain occupations seem to attract such types to mention only fashion designers, hairdressers and ballet dancers; they are also disproportionately represented in the art, culture and entertainment fields.

That's what the pope says

I THOUGHT IT WAS 10%

Polish priest is sacked

The Primate of Poland Wojciech Polak has commented about Charamsa's ostentatious act: "I believe that is the personal drama* of that individual. May God give him the grace to come to his senses."

*The Polish term "dramat" is much stronger than English "drama" and is closer to "tragedy".

The Bible was written by humans

The Bible was written by divinely inspired humans. That's what every true Christian has to believe.

Aren't we getting super-ultra-hyper-mega sensitive? Besides, have you set yourself up as a self-proclaimed homosexual defender?
I did scroll back BTW and it turns out htat you have always been an arroagnt, complex-ridden know-all pontificaitng about who is and who is not Polish, whether Poland is a Catholic country, etc. Other posters way back have compared your obsessive nature to a tick one can't get rid of or proposed moving you to Mars so as not to conaminate PF. It's good to know you haven't gone off only just recently but have always been correctly pegged for what you are.

hate speech

Fag, pansy, bugger, sod, nancy, queer, etc. are pejorative, homo is purely descriptive. Quadrisyllabic homosexual is a bit too unwieldy for normal use. What about homophobe - is using that term also hate speech?

tall, small

Yes, but if a pipsqueak weakling applies for a job in building or mining requiring great physical exertion and is sent home -- is that discrimination? If the guy was a homo, he shouldn't have studied for the priesthood in the first place. Now he's raising a ruckus and hogging the limelight to promote sales of his book. Profits first and foremost and to hell with everything else!

homophobic and backwards Vatican

What about bermudophobic Lufthansa or KLM? If a pilot or stewardess came to work in casual dress -- bermudas and T-shirt -- becuse they didn't fancy the regulation uniforms and refused to change... Or the red-clad, bear-hatted honour guard at Buckingham Palace....

Every employer has certain rules and regulations. If they didn't, total anarchy and chaos would prevail. The RCC has its rules as well, and those who cannot or refuse to follow them are shown the door. And that is as it should be.
