Szydło

GOOD NEWS: BEATA SZYD£O WINS DEBATE. A running survey by SE.pl showed that viewers handed PiS' candidate for PM Beata Szydło a 64%-36% victory over reigning PM Ewa Kopacz. General predictions indicated the debate would be crucial to next Sunday's vote.

many innocent people

What about the guitly people who had their misdeeds swept under the rug during the PO era which is happily drawing to a close? The world does not consist solely of innocent people. IV RP will sift and winnow to weed out the bad from amongst the good. The innocent have nothing to fear but the scammers should shake in their booths. The CBA are on their trail.

PiS

Michnik looking the wild-eyed demagogue is ranting, raving and probably crapping in his pants at the thought of a PiS victory which he equates with fascism. Adam, that trick was good while it lasted and it lasted far too long. But people have seen through those PiS-demonising tactics totally reminiscent of the boy who cried wolf.

please people

That is the kind of Church some PF-ers want. And not to please people as such but society's marginal types, moral misfits, freaks, assorted perverts and anything-goes hedonists.

Language / Doubt about demonstrative pronouns [8]

to jest

To jest is the equivalent of French c'est, German das ist and English this is. It DOES NOT agree with the gender of the noun being identified and always stays the same. So we say: to jest moja żona (fem,), to jest jego auto (neuter), to jest mój ulubiony sklep (masc).

It does change in the plural to: to są (these are): moi rodzice, jego skarpetki, nasze groby, etc.

that make people angry

What people? Abortionists, couples living in sin, divorcees, family deserters, perverts, the consenting-adult/ anything-goes crowd, capitalist exploiters, drug dealers, hedonists? Yes, I don't doubt the Church's teaching doesn't sit well with that ilk!

Church could have their own party

That is typIcal of the godless set on the outside looking in. They see "The Church" as a bunch of doddering old bishops.

In actuality, "THE CHURCH IS US!"

disingenuous

Not at all. But this does show that again the PC dictatorship is trying to resrtict people's freedom fo speech. If someone felt compelled to invoke the Deity, who has the right to prevent it?

Secondy, our heritage is permeated wtih Chrsitan concepts, values and turns of phrase. Even religiously lukewarm or downright irreligious people often say "I hope and pray that...". Not to mention oaths "So help me God" and sayings such as "God forbid", "God willing", "God-given" or even the more flippant "good God!"

On the margins of society there are various God-bashers, Christophobes and sundry anti-clericals who woudl love to expurgate all traces of our Christian heritage. But they will fail miserably, becuase that goes against the nation and all it holds dear!

claims divine support

There was no claim involved. It was a humble prayer to the Supreme Being and socio-culturally a sign of resepct and humility. It is the godless ones, the arroagnt, selfish hedonists whose religion is run-away consumption and self-indulgence, that should be feared. They believe only in "me, myself and I!"

PiS

PiS leader Kaczyński said on Sunday that if PiS win you can expect peace, calm and a plan for Poland. He also said Poland needs housing within the reach of the average Pole. It should not cost more than 2,500 zł per square metre and can be rented on a hire-purchase basis whereby the rent would count like instalments so after 30 years it would become the tenant's property. More proof that PiS have the welfare of Poland's little man at heart. That's quite unlike PO who suck up to oligarchs, bankers, corporate executives and other bloodsuckers as well as their yuppy hirelings.

Zbigniew Brzezinski

Whether we like it or not, all of history and current politics is about tactical alliances, intrigues and secret deals. One's enemy's enemy is one's temporary ally until one of the sides does a bout turn.

Korwin.

Can anyone explain why Korwin is being branded a rightist? He wants to do away with income tax, the national health service and free public education and believes, like the original liberals of yesteryear, that the best government is that which governs the least. Leave as much money in people's pockets so they can afford private medical care and education -- seems to sum it up nicely.

Europeans and Americans

And Poles! JP2, Wałęsa, Brzeziński and Kukliński all played a significant role in the collapse of the Evil Empire. Non-Poles who contributed included Reagan, Thatcher, Bush Sr and Gorbachev

Never heard of the conscious clause? If something violates a person's conscience he cannot be forced to perform some act.

based on nothing

People all over vote for a candidate for different reasons. It'd be great if everyone based their vote on profound intellectual analysis, but to expect that is a pipedream.

Many females vote on the basis of looks ... a handsome, smartly dressed and well-groomed candidate cuts more ice than an unkempt and scraggly looking one. Others are influecned by his/her family status. A mutliple divorcee may come across as unstable. Still others judge a candidate by where he is from (local patriotism), his occupation, religion hobbies and interests. The Internet? many people in a given country do not attend political rallies and also have to rely on the media and web to learn about candidates.

News / Kaczyński slams "political correctness" plague in Poland [85]

Speaking in Legionowie PiS leader J. Kaczyński said "political correctness" limits freedom of speech and scientific research. He mentioned those (in other countries) languishing in prison for refusing to marry homosexuals or daring to have their own view on the subject. He said Poland should never buckle under to that toxic trend even if Poland were to become an island of freedom in Europe and the world. "Freedom is a part of our identity, our Polishness," he emphasized.

The PF's Harryesque hypocrites who might come back with "Show me where anyone is in a Polish prison for that!" will be unhappy because he is effectively warning Poles against what might be just round the corner, esp. of PO's libertine loons come to power. They prefer to hush it down so it can silently seep over and take hold and be difficult to undo.

Real Estate / Why are toilets and sinks in Poland always separated by a door? [33]

In case of a bathroom

It's mainly a question of available spacce. In th USA the typcial one-family detached house usually has the washing machine and dryer in the

basement utility room. That's where the wash tubs, furnace and hot-water heater, maybe a do-it-yourselfer's work bench and junk cupbpard are usually located. The rest of the basement is a furnished TV/rec room. I presume that if Polish flats had super-tiny bathrooms and kitchens but large entranceways (vestibules), that's where the washer would go.

country of 2 taps

Dunno if this is another urban legend or not, but somewhere along the line I heard Churchill was amazed and impressed by the single-tap bathroom sink arrangement in Tehran or Yalta where he was conferring with Uncle Joe and Roosevelt.

BTW Ameircans visiting Poland are often surprised by light switches outside the bathroom. Seems to be part of the building code -- maybe it got started so no-one would reach for the light switch with wet hands?

uncultured fools

POO are not uncultured fools but smooth, glib and slippery bald-faced liars. PM Kopacz recently told an outright lie saying she had entered politics 14 years ago. In reality she made her political début in 1982 during martial law when her application for membership of the communist-satellite party ZSL was backed by Radom PZPR 1st Secretary Bogdan Prus. In the 1990s she belonged to the anticlerical leftist-liberal Freedom Union and (when that thankfully broke up!) to the warm-tap-water POO. Her party-hopping suggests she could be in any grouping that gave her aggressive political streak (an excess of male hormones?) an outlet.

Your mis- and over-interpretations (note hyphen use!) and tendency to put your own words into other people's mouth are so disgustingly Harryesque"!
Sorry, I know he's your idol and role model!

don't recall any PO supporters

As I have said, PO are clever enough to cover their tracks and (seocndly) their misdeeds are underreproted or passed over in silence by the biased Michnikite and TVN-style leftstream media.

PiS are too sincere, fortright and possibly a tad naive and figure if they're working for the good of Poland everyone should see that. Sadly, they underestimate the long tentacles of the PO's ruthless hate industry.

PiS

PiS leader Kaczyński speaking in Biała Podlaska said, according to Rzepa, that a significant victory for PiS would enable a one-party government to peacefully change Poland for the better in cooperation with the president and opposition if it agrees to cooperate. A multi-party Sejm will lead to constant fighting, name-calling and backbiting. The moral of the story: everybody vote for PiS!

PiS

Anything connected with professional PiS-basher Toamsz Lis cannot be regarded as a reliable source. That POO hate industry operative is so blinded by his own venom and vitriol and enamoured of his own "wit" and "eloquence" that everything he says or writes has to be taken with a very large grain of salt.

creation of "black lists"

They're too devious and sly to get caught. Every political formation has the equivalent of black lists as you call them. In fact multiple lists of people to seek support from, avoid, blackball or whatever. That's called politics. PiS are just too sincere and fortright and don't cleverly cover their tracks the ways POO and the ex-commies do.

For balance, focus on the POO's scams and abuses. You one-sided PiS-bashing is getting boring. Anyway, it's only a few mroe days. In the 2019 election we'll all be wondering whether POO will make it under the wire along with Kukiz and Petru.

favourite part of Poland

For tourist visits and natural scenery maybe. But what about the people of Poland B? You have always described them as the best and most decent people ever to trod God's good earth, have you? Somehow I don't recall. And nearly all of them support PiS and hate POO with a passion.

witchhunts?

Wojewódzki, Michnik and their ilk like to talk about witchhunts but somehow never mention the crimes their families had committed against the Polish nation. Not only did Adam's parents betray Poland and side with its Stalinist enemies. Communsit Prosecutor Bogusław Wojewódzki was a PRL dignitary involved in the 1981 Bydgoszcz provocation. That was when communist riot police were sent in to beat up protesting Solidarity farmers. (Google if itnerested.)

inevitable failure

In life almost nothing is inevitable or impossible. A past problem or mistake (contrarian SO & LPR partners) in 2007 does not mean it will have to be repeated. A lot of world politicans have stepped down only to make a comeback. A lot depends on which and how many of the little also-rans make it through. The best scenario would be for no-one coalitionable with PO (Petru, ex-commies, PSL ) to get elected so PiS could comfortably go it alone.

never got a share of the spoils

I wonder how you'd feel if you were amongst them, racking your brain each month to make ends meet or living from hand to mouth with your family.

It's easy to pull a Harry and look down on Poland B but far more difficult to put yourself in their shoes. That's called empathy -- something pro-market freaks usually lack.
