I can't speak for Dirk,but I was not comparing Holocaust era Poland to Israel.
I will support present day Israel to the end.
I was talking about how Jews behaved in Poland both during and after the war.

Interesting post.
My father came to The UK after the war and though Polish,he seems to have been stripped of his Polish citizenship,because he would not return to Communist Poland.

The British government were making it quite difficult at the time for Poles to gain British citizenship.
So they issued him what was called a travel document.
It allowed him to travel to any countries that recognized this,Poland did not,but offered him no protection from the British government.
As his son,could I still gain Polish citizenship or not?

I can't speak for the whole of Europe but here in The UK people can get by without learning English.
They live in their own communities,work with people from their own countries (that is how they get the job in the first place),
Watch their own TV,only mix with their own community........this is a recipe for disaster.....

Yes,not bad,but the fact remains that Ireland,at least officially,remained neutral during the war.
Despite the support they gave us unofficially,I think that was still a disgusting stance to take.

Well,good luck with that Pawian.
My experience in The UK is 50/50.
Some immigrants do integrate and,to a degree,embrace their new home,many don't and live in a seperate world,they speak their own language at work,in shops and only watch their own TV.

Even some Poles are guilty of this.
I have Indians and Poles working for me who,after over 20 years still can't speak English properly,even though their kids respond to them in English.....it is pathetic and lazy.
