Law / Just got my permanent resident permit to live in Poland :) [46]

Does getting one affect the process of getting a Polish passport?

As far as I know, Having a permanent residence is a precondition for citizenship in all cases except two:
1. Naturalization by President of RP.
2. = on the basis of Polish ancestry.

Once you have PR, the clock can be reset - for example if you stay out of Poland more than 6 months in one shot except under certain conditions...

You can lose the PR all together - for example if you stay outside more than 6 years in one shot plus other circumstances...

You must also prove that you have been a temporary resident for at least 5 years

@Moonlighting @ivpn71; If you are currently married to a Polish citizen, have been married to him/her for longer than three years, and your marriage is registered in Poland, regardless of whether you are from EU or not, then this is shortened to 2 years (on temporary residence), not 5. Also, the requirement to show a regular source of income is dropped in this case.

Life / Health system in Poland one of the worst in Europe: report [78]

On this subject, my child was just referred to a "pediatric cardiologist".

Called and checked. To go through NFZ, we have to wait TWO YEARS for an appointment.

I called a very reputable private practice and made an appointment in 3 weeks from today with one of the top consultants in the field.

That goes again to show what a failure NFZ is, on so many levels.

Anytime you need anything from a specialist the wait is stupidly long, which renders the idea of a universal healthcare system totally and utterly pointless.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

@Harry

Yet some are in total denial and have clearly lost their wits. The question that is the title of the thread has been well answered.

The rest is essentially a couple of people trolling or spreading hate speech because they are not satisfied with the answer, and a few people trying to keep the trolls and haters under control.

If you don't like the fact that the law in Poland protects all citizens then you don't have to live in Poland. But sitting several thousand miles away in USA or KSA and whining about it won't change anything. If you have something hateful to say there are many portals for your hate speech with plenty of losers listening/reading/watching. This forum is not one of them.

News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

while about 30% of all Poles are counted in church on the Sunday when the RCC counts attendance

You mean the 30% that voluntarily subject themselves to thinly veiled hate speech and brainwashing? Yes, statistically they add up more or less. However, about 80% of the age group with children at school age feel more should be done...

Food / Can you do online food shopping in Poland? Supermarkets. [42]

Question is open for all to answer :)

I like blue city for the free parking, and for TK Max (good for gift ideas). Not a fan of Piotr i Pawel because I find they tend to be overpriced on certain items.

I am curious to hear from people that did buy organic foods online about their experiences.

"As many as 72 percent of Poles think the Church treats the problem of paedophilia among priests too leniently"

Law / Pakistani married to Polish Girl in Sweden [40]

Unfortunately, without these sick and misinformed stereotypes about everyone that doesn't fit in a very specific mold, some people would have nothing to talk about.

Law / Just got my permanent resident permit to live in Poland :) [46]

can be choosy

Actually anyone married to a Polish citizen for longer than 3 years and living in Poland longer than 2 years on temporary residence can get a permanent residence permit, provided they don't have outstanding tax issues and don't have legal/security issues.

hiding in Poland

Plenty of Poles hiding in Poland, and let's not get started on foreigners hiding here. Edit to add: not unique to Poland at all. Those that want to hide "further" tend to go further east for example to Russia.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

@Polonius3; nothing is going to halt this because nothing can. Most of us are going to see same-sex marriages happening in Poland in our lifetime.

The church in Poland in particular will need to rethink its relationship with society and instead of being a bully (which is what they do when they get involved in politics and in certain legal disputes), they should go back to what the church originally was, a point of spiritual assembly. They should try to appeal to people with logic, reason and more importantly kindness and acceptance. Fewer and fewer people are willing to change who they are to fit into the church's mold. Gone are the days where people take things for granted - everyone has internet now and they can research and pretty much make up their own minds about stuff. I don't know whether you've noticed or not, but other than on special occasions, churches are practically empty these days, save for a few retirees.

Law / Driver license: Moroccan/UAE into Polish exchange / convention. Zameldowanie (residence registration) [13]

@kpc21; Zameldowanie serves as both proof of address and proof of registration of address (meaning confirmation from the government that you have notified them of your actual place of residence and provided the necessary documents to prove it if applicable).

If the ID card does not have an address on it then the zameldowanie is the only form of proof of address I can think of other than an actual driving license. Furthermore, foreigners that reside in Poland don't have an actual Polish ID card, and may have a residence card, valid up to 3 years if temporary and up to 10 if permanent. In the case of foreigners, the zameldowanie confirms that a foreigner is still in fact registered at the same address as printed on the residence card.

Law / How can I get Polish citizenship after been married to a Polish spouse [75]

@Kosmita; yes you have to live in Poland (in light of your specific situation) at least 4 years to become a Polish citizen, and you will need to learn Polish to level B1 or better. You can try to apply for Polish citizenship through the office of the President of Republic of Poland, but applications take up to 2 years to receive a response, and there is no guarantee of a positive response.
