News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

This fight will be fun to watch. At stake are: a prosecutor mandate (retired), a MP mandate, prosecutor's retirement pay (quite high), MP salary. Heroes: Members-elect Dariusz Barski and Bogdan Świączkowski, both retired prosecutors, both PiS.

Surprise, Surprise. PIS pigs want to have their snouts in two troughs at once.

No wonder members of PO publicly and without shame are saying things like: że prezes jest "wielkim mężem stanu", "dotkniętym geniuszem", i nawet roczne dzieci po zobaczeniu go w telewizji długo jeszcze się uśmiechają.

That is hilarious(:

you do understand that when they say prezes they mean Kaczynski, since Tusk is a premier.

The sad thing is that Kaczynksi probably actually believes it.

History / Why have Poles contributed so little to Academics? (Particularly Science) [180]

[quote=AlexTheGreat]No, that is not true at all. German Jews were always considered fellow Germans by the majority of non-Jewish Germans.[/q
What rubbish, try to explain that to the family members of Albert Einstein(:
Indeed if Einstein was considered German, which he wasn't by the Germans, he wouldn't have to escape Germany. So in the case of Einstein he achieved despite living in Germany not because of it.

News / What do PO voters expect from the new Polish government ? [32]

He obviously can't admit that he is a PIS supporter. I mean think about how logically flawed you would you have to be to support Nowa Prawica with their economically right wing and liberatarian policies, whilst at the same time sympathizing with the economically socialist views of PIS?

You are (most probably unintentionally) proving my point...

No, It's jarek that has Messiah complex (get with the program, he intends to "save Poland") not Tusk. It's interesting though how you completely ignore the argument presented to you, your post reveals more for what it does not say than for what it does. It's funny every single time you stumble on some inconvenient logic, and your world view collapses in a heap, you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off as if nothing has happened, it reminds of Kaczynski when he refused to answer questions from journalists or engage in debate.

Basically you guys act like the voice of reason

Thank you for the confirmation, It's never to late for a sinner to repent, even at the last hour(:
I think your problem is that your brain is impermeable to logic, try switching it from reverse cycle.

They're not telling me, they're informing me that Gazeta Polska were convicted of lying. There's a difference.

Gazeta Polska, convicted liars? Fact.
Gazeta Wyborcza, liberal-Jewish-communist conspiracy theory? Speculation.

That's exactly why Gazeta Wyborcza doesn't tend to get prosecuted (except when PiS were harassing them in power) and Gazeta Polska does.

It's funny how when you get the better of them in their own argument, and you point out to them their flawed logic, and demonstrate to them that white is white and black is black and despite their dear leader's assertion that black is white that will always be the case, they simply run away from the argument-it's as though as it never happened, like with the above example(: Looks as though they perfecting their leader's habit of running away from debate.

You have just showed them factual information that Gazeta Polska are a bunch of liars and they ignore it completely.

News / What do PO voters expect from the new Polish government ? [32]

government rising taxes, increasing employment in administration etc. they would all have said that it's total sh*it but it happened

Only in your imagination. VAT on fresh food was lowered and the increase in administrators is mostly the doing of local government. As a PO supporter I don't have a principled opposition to state workers, provided that they are not surplus to requirements.

There was also something called the GFC, which meant lowering taxes was a bit of a non starter, once the GFC comes to an endthen VAT will come down to it's rate before the crisis. That is their promise and I am sure they will deliver.

Mind you I would much rather prefer waiting for a tax cut under PO, than a tax increase under PIS, as would have happened had their economically illiterate polices come to fruition.

Speaking of PIS, if they were in power than Poland would have been another Greece, as the budget would have been some extra 40 billion in the red.

Thank God for Tusk and PO.

Continued investment in infrastructure. When the highways are built the the priority should switch to rail.
Investment in internet infrastructure.
Continued investment in higher education and the knowledge economy.
Continued reform of the healthcare system.
Continued reform of the school system.

These are just some of the things i expect.

I haven't said it in a while, but hey hey, na na, goodbye Kaczynski!

And that as well(:

True

Gazeta Polska licks their arse constantly, and they're #2 by newspapers sold. Get over it - in Poland, the media is partisan - even public TV was thoroughly manipulated by PiS into broadcasting all sorts of crap.

Hahaha, can you imagine, Gazeta Polska forced to tell the truth. That would be hilarious - no-one would read!

that would be the day(:

You need to take care of your mental health, you are loosing it.

Tell me when you have moved on from the denial phase to the bargaining one, because at the moment I still get the feeling that you believe that denial is a river in north Africa(:

The question asked by many people in Poland - WTF?

Can anybody remind of the four stages again? I believe that denial comes first, and acceptance comes last. It seems as though you haven't moved on from the first stage(:

Looks like PO treacherously manipulated the public into:

lol. that's the only explanation a PIS supporter would be able to come up with(:

Sorry, I forgot

It doesn't seem to work, can you provide a better version.

Both represent PO.

Good news that shows the inherent tolerance and fair play of the Polish people, that they already have 2 black members of parliament(:
I think the most recently elected MP, has quite an impressive CV.
The other interesting thing is that the people of Lods chose John Godson, ahead of the party's networker par excellence Cezary Grabraczyk.

We discussed this on some other thread a few months ago. Here is another source:

defenceviewpoints.co.uk/articles-and-analysis/visegrad-group-a-new-european-military-force

Orban's calls fell on deaf ears in Tusk government

So what makes you think that is the case?

What makes you think that is the case, I believe that it was under Tusk that we developed a common defense policy with the Visegrad Group.

I still see German Poland and Russian Poland, lol...

I like the map(: but I can't believe that you would classify Galician Poles as Russians):

Jarosław, Save Poland!

Looks as though our Jarek is developing a messiah complex(:

Life / Looking to immigrate to Europe. How is life in Poland? [116]

Hague, you make fair points in your comparisons to GB.

Don't get me wrong Seanus, I am not extolling the virtues of the Polish economy and saying everything is perfect, I know that it is not. I was responding to what was a ridicules blanket statement and putting some reality into the picture. In any case I am sure that our OP will make right decision, one that is best for her.

Life / Looking to immigrate to Europe. How is life in Poland? [116]

compared to where? I have set up businesses in the UK so I can talk about the difference between Poland and the UK
setting up a Sp zoo is more expensive and time consuming than setting one up in the UK for example

And Regarding your UK example, the corporation rate in the UK is 20%, and not long ago it was 21%, it is 19% in Poland

And Poland's economy is one of the most stable in Europe, but I've noticed that you have backtracked on some of the earlier rubbish you have posted.

our South African colleague not getting the full picture

very amusing(: my post was addressed specifically in mind of the fact that our SA friend, does not live in Poland, and he does not earn a Polish wage-obviously.

He works for an export/import company which is located in Poland, so he want be starting out as a teacher for example.

I take it that you unaware of the fact that you can set up a business through the internet in Poland now?

Life / Looking to immigrate to Europe. How is life in Poland? [116]

what do you know?
do you live in Poland?

Which particular point in his statement do you disagree with? I don't see your question as in any way relevant to his statement.

So lets go back to this statement and judge.

Poland would be a good choice to move in , because it is far cheaper to establish a business here[correct that is true] and the living conditions are great . You will need far less capital to establish yourself here than in western Europe[again that is true] . Poland is on its way of constant and steady progress, roads and railways are under major construction , housing market is fairly affordable and economical stability is our trade mark[again that whole statement is true] . Fiscal system is strict so it is highly unprobable that you can meet here similar conditions like many european countries have faced recently[that is quite true as well, Poland is in a far better shape than many other EU countries]

So like i said stop posting BS, and try to argue like an adult.

that figures
another utter t!t listening to fireside tales from their senile grandparents

Very mature, well done.

Actually only my grandmother is alive, and she lives in a recently renovated 2 storey house, and in that great Polish tradition continually goes on about how tough life supposedly is. So it's not from her that I get my information from.

The quote is becoming famous.

I love it. lol

why do you need to ridicule PiS - why can't you just accept that there is such a political movement?

They do quite good job of ridiculing themselves.

BTW, I think PiS is quite useful. Polish democracy without PiS would be crippled. They are good opposition to PO.

True, without PIS as the opposition, PO would find it very hard to win government.

If Jarek stays for another 4 years, then PO will be guaranteed of a 3rd term in office-who knows they might go on for as long as Maggie Thatcher(:

for three weeks ? no matter I think that some people are able to learn only the hard way. In your case you will not learn because you live abroad.
We can expect more quotes from a propaganda leaf-left they use for w lightning their cigars while successfully nicking another million.

I wouldn't be so sure Ironside, I think I can hear the party's call! Calling me back to Poland. Now that Poland is a normal country and all, I think it's time to come back, any advice?

And btw: I did not get that information from a leaflet.

Did i mention that I am a very good door knocker and leaflet distributor, what do you think Ironside will skills come in handy(:

This thread illustrates perfectly why the US Polonia should never be allowed near a Polish election.

A bunch embittered radicals.

no longer gets preferential treatment is what he means I suppose.

No that is not what he means, and you should be ashed for implying that is the case. You should know that blacks get preferential treatment in universities in SA at the expense of whites and government jobs. Furthermore black South Africans have a penchant for murdering white farmers, so it is also quite dangerous.

there is one thing to be proud about your country, it is another to spout cliches taken from the back of a political party pamphlet
and you are not doing our South African colleague any favours by giving her false information about the utopia nestling on the banks of the Wisla

You are full of BS, what he said is by and large correct.
