Food / Why carp for Polish Christmas? [157]

and you two, if you don't like it, don't eat it... no whining...

exactly. It is our tradition to eat carp for Xmas and we like it, point. What is YOUR problem with carp. Why do you get so excited about what we eat and why?

But hey, quoting former French president, Jacques Chirac "One cannot trust people whose cuisine is so bad".

Life / RUSSIAN WOMAN IN POLAND....welcome...or not...? [33]

Back to the topic of the thread,

I am well aware that oppression by the Russians is much more recent in Polish history than German occupation , so is there widespread resentment of Russian people....

a resentment, if any, wouldn't have much to do with the oppression by the Russians during the war and the communism as the propaganda always presented Russians as our Big Brothers and Germans as enemies.

On the other hand, there's been a lot of tension in the relations between PL and Russia recently but I wouldn't say that there is a resentment of Russians in PL so I guess she should be OK here.

History / Polish hatred towards Jews... [1290]

Polish hatred towards Jews?
Yad Vashem Righteous Among the Nations - per Country & Ethnic Origin January 1, 2009 - Poland is in the first place with 6,135 righteous:

yadvashem.org/righteous_new/statistics.html

Recently, after numerous racial incidents in France, the Israeli president called the Jews to leave France, not Poland, so pls don't get excited over how PL hates Jews...

Life / Do expats living in Poland speak Polish? [233]

For those who don't speak PL at all, why is that? Is it because you don't need it, it's difficult to learn, you don't really care?

Personally I wouldn't stand living in a country and not speaking the language - I'd feel isolated, vulnerable and somewhat ignorant...

Life / If I say POLAND, you say...? [100]

I go to Poland very frequently, often to Krakow, so tend to use the same shop regularly so if the assistants in that shop are seemingly miserable then my general opinion of Kefirek assistants is perhaps unfairly based on this experience.

don't even bother smiling, it won't help. Most of the PL shop assitants are the most miserable people on the planet earth, they don't know the words hello, thank you, you are welcome etc.

A visit in the nearby Lewiatan store can ruin my day....

I work with a young Polish man whom I am always telling to 'cheer up' and to not be so miserable; perhaps he is just serious though he also seems to be pessimistic and negative.

I'm not sure about the seriousness. I guess it's a mixture of both pessimism and seriousness, but in general PL people seem more pessimist compared to other nations :(

cheer up, cheer up, cheer up people!!!!!!

Love / Polish Girls negative or positive personality trait? [267]

Well, some are just plain sluts. No matter how you turn it. But most of them are over the top, like said: dress up too kitschy, dance too wild, drink too much, etc. They are easy when drunk, hence a great deal of them are called party-wh*res and get invited very frequently for parties.

what did you smoke at these parties to not be able to make a difference between an ordinary slut and a girl? The threads is about PL girls, not PL sluts....

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

I remember one friend of mine who enjoyed a polish girl

your friend must be the only non-gay Greek. Lucky him that he got to enjoy as you call it a PL girl, be happy for him not jealous!

Wow, that's the first time I see you revealing the country you're from!

how on earth a Greek would know anything about women - I've heard they are all gay ;)

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

i have never thought talking about sex with them could be considered as 'disrespectful' I mean if she is uncomfortable with the situation/topic of conversation then i'm more than happy to steer clear of it.

yes it could be considered as disrespectful.
This is how I see it: if a foreigner asks me an intimate question than I wouldn't be happy but I wouldn't be offended either, because I would think that maybe where he comes from it's normal, if it was a Polish guy I'd take it as a faux pas and would be offended.

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

It obviously has a lot to do with the culture/religion in Poland, can i assume that a lot of the population are catholics, well if i can then sex before marriage is meant to be a no no. So therefore that means that the talk of sex would be frouned upon?? right??

well I think that in PL man-woman relations (men-woman in my case hahaha) are more formal, I mean unless people know each other there is a distance to keep, you just don't talk about things considered intimate/personal like that, as it may be taken as lack of respect toward the woman.

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

lol, i was not trying to offend anybody,

I know you weren't, no worries :)

and there i was thinking you had a whole basement filled with men, to do with what you liked, lol.

hmmmm, it could be a way to use my basement - I shall think about it...

Still, I would think discretion comes into play.

definitely.
I don't like when a men asks me intimate questions or makes sexual comments, unless it's my men of course.

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

i'm talking about younger girls 18 -25, i tend to find that in the UK more mature women talk about sex easy/freely or whatever you want to call it but the younger ones maybe not so much.

Oh OK, I don't know about the younger ones - my colleagues were in their thirties.
