Genealogy / Trying to build Polish Family Tree... Too Many inconsistencies. [12]

I just checked the Poznan Project (poznan-project.psnc.pl). Their database came up with the following:

Catholic parish Środa Wielkopolska [Schroda]
entry 20 / 1837
Joannes Kozłowski (22 years old)
father: Jacobus, mother: Marianna Chlebowska
Antonina Ostrowska (18 years old)
father: Joseph, mother: Theophila Węsierska +

Mirek Paliszewski (e-mail: mirke@o2.pl):

Are these your folks by any chance? Note the spelling!
Don't trust the LDS datasets too much. They contain many transcription errors and always have to be cross checked with original documents.

Genealogy / Trying to build Polish Family Tree... Too Many inconsistencies. [12]

Alan, have you checked the regular sources already? Social Security Death Index, Naturalization and Census records, Ellis Island ship manifests, the LDS database? Many Polish records (both church books and civil registration) are available online; especially from the areas that were part of the German Empire and Austria-Hungary.

Here are a few links:

metryki.genbaza.com/genbaza,list,4,1
genealogiawarchiwach.pl

You'll need to enter Polish town names to get results.

scummy Latino undeportables

How many do you actually know personally?

anti-American propaganda

Sorry, señor. No clowns allowed in the main section of PF. Your place is in Off Topic at the neo-Nazi convention - also known as the "Thread of support to US President Trump in his fight for media freedom in USA". Now bugger off...

Bye

Last one turns off the light.

Now, give me, please, the top three.

Are you Mexican by any chance?

How about you tell me instead what you have in mind when you think of a safe America? You know, safe from evil foreigners, safe from dangerous brown people, safe from the terribly unfair treatment by all other nations, safe from drugs and all the other stuff that Republicans are so afraid of. Do you imagine a nice little police state where every citizen is armed with a gun and a Bible? Where women know their place, stay in the kitchen and spread their legs on demand for nookie? How do you want to make America great again, and while we're at it ... when was America great last?

the wall Israelis built / DMZ

You are comparing our southern border to war zones? A little paranoid, aren't we? If you feel so threatened, why don't you move to Israel for a while and experience the warm fuzzy feeling of being safe first hand? Some inconveniences though: when you enter and leave the country, you will be interrogated like a criminal. Armed military in the streets. Your backpack will be searched before you can enter a shopping mall. Act suspicious and you might get shot. The regime doesn't care too much about human rights, you know. Really peaceful country, and sooooooooo safe because of the wall. Weapons and wall maintenance of course courtesy the American taxpayer.

I will settle for the bottom three

Sure. Shovel, ladder and boat. Bonus methods: drones for the drugs, overstaying visas for those who don't want to go with one of the first three options.

a wave of undocumented immigrants

Most likely U.S. Americans who are fed up with Trump... :)

Build the Wall! MAGA!!

Mexico and South America are laughing at you fools. There are a million ways to cross the border illegally, and America will pay through the nose for daily operations and maintenance just to make Trump's billionaire buddies happy.

it encourages reckless and feckless behavior

It could, I agree with you. That's why it has to be made abundantly clear that this won't fly in the future.

ending jus soli

Would require a change to the Fourteenth Amendment. Highly unlikely.

Someone who was brought here illegally as a baby and grew up in this country is simply an American. That political decision should've been made decades ago.

News Flash, they are open

Try to get into the country illegally via any airport in the U.S.. That'll teach you about your "open" borders.

No one cares about 'fair' or not.

Well, then why do we have a system in place that controls legal immigration? If no one cares whether someone came to the country legally or illegally, we might just as well open our borders and stop talking about that stupid wall. I'm against illegal immigration - be it a Pole overstaying his visa or a Mexican sneaking across the border. If you want to live in this country, don't start by committing a crime.

@Dirk diggler

This whole debate isn't about illegal immigrants anymore, Adrian. It's about the fact that Latinos and Hispanics are about to replace the white majority in many states, and that a certain primitive part of the Republican voter base cannot cope. Just read through this thread or the other one in Off Topic about Trump. Our current administration is playing with the fire to fuel this hate for political gains.

Im all for deporting illegals who commit violent felonies, but deporting people who are working and contributing to the american economy just seems foolish.

Don't you think that's a bit unfair to those who go through the bureaucratic nightmare of becoming a legal resident/ citizen? The dreamers are a different story in my opinion. They should be allowed to stay.

If you dont want Latino immigrants in the us than stop supporting them financially.

Exactly, but that will of course never happen. It's easier for them to switch off their brains, scream MAGA and demand a shoot-to-kill border that Mexico will (never) pay for. This country is so screwed.

First of all, I wasn't talking about the Berlin Wall but about the border between West Germany and the GDR in the west. Second, the Wall was called the "Anti-fascist Peace Bulwark" - just like the shoot-to-kill border further to the west erected to keep the evil capitalists out (and the poor East Germans in). Educate yourself.

We, conservatives, call it an instinct of self-preservation.

The East German commies said exactly the same when they built their border. I saw that abomination in real life. A wet dream for the Russian loving Republicans of 2018.

There would be no shooting at the shooting border.

And you believe that?

This is why we need to get the Trump Wall built.

But you are of course okay that it was most likely a Trump supporting business owner who hired the illegals, right? Bend over, goober. Ha ha ha.

UK, Ireland / No Poles Allowed! - Latest Polonophobic Outrage Out of Britain [660]

The justices, in a 7-2 decision, faulted the Colorado Civil Rights Commission's handling of the claims

Exactly, and nothing more. The verdict doesn't open the door for discrimination yet, but I'm sure the religious nut jobs of this country will be more than happy to jump on it anyway. Slippery slope. One day we'll be able to refuse service to a goober because it's against our religious belief to serve a clown..

Sure hope so ... for $147 million for 14 lousy miles. Will that keep the illegals out? Of course not.

How many American corporations and agribusinesses have they already caught that were hiring illegals? There's a whole shadow economy out there which relies on cheap labor from south of the border.

Meanwhile, 200 more illegals cross the border headed into SD to set up camp.

I'd suggest you take a closer look at the numbers of your Republican "paradise" Texas instead...

There you go, you sound just like Trump!!!

You'd wish... :)

Nobody forces us to buy foreign products - be it Chinese crap, French wine or German luxury cars. It's the American consumer who chooses these products over our domestic ones. Once this country manufactures something that the rest of the world wants (other than services and software!) and our corporations start paying living wages, U.S. consumers might change their mind and and can afford to buy American again. I very much doubt it, though. Instead of looking forward to the future, we are turning backwards at the moment. While America returns to coal fired power plants, the planet moves on to nuclear fusion...

Life / Why are Polish people so obsessed with race? [160]

than why is the eu trying so hard to redistribute them to other countries?

First of all, the migrant/ refugee crisis was not created by the European Union. When hundreds of thousands of people flooded Greece and Italy, what was the EU supposed to do? Let both countries rot and pay the price for the meddling of some other nations in the Middle East? If any country is to blame (other than the meddling ones) then it is Turkey. They waved everyone through.

Even for tech companies like Google Apple Facebook etc r and d is all but a few percent of their spending.

The so-called "R&D Intensity" of tech and pharma companies varies quite a bit. It's usually between 4 and approx. 25% of revenue.

And r and d is a tiny fraction of every corporations budget

Maybe in Flyover Country where the coal mines hum and the nuclear reactors glow. Many tech companies here spend enormous amounts of money on R&D.

German is not official language of Namibia

Only since 1990. Before, the official languages were German, English and Afrikaans.

They could speak hundred languages and still don't want them anywhere near me.

Namibia is beautiful. You should visit one day.

New Zealand is like a little paradise

Ha ha ha. If you consider a major meth (they call it "P") and gang problem, widespread child poverty and abuse, and a poisoned environment "paradise", then you might be right. New Zealand's "100% pure" marketing slogan is a total scam that only stupid tourists and naive migrants from Europe fall for. The locals prefer to leave their country if they can and settle either in Oz or the U.K..
