Life / Why Poland is "surprised" by winter and snow every year? [192]

A ton of coal is 1,000 zl. this year in my area. That is considerably more than last year, and you would need a ton for the season, maybe a little more. If you are heating with wood only, you will wake up to a freezing house in the morning, so it is essential to add a pale of coal for the night. Normally, in the countryside, you can buy it at the same place where farmers buy fertilizer.

Life / Expats in Poland - would you fight for your new country? [105]

Which is pretty much what I said: fight for people not for countries.

Who are the people you would "fight" for? Who are your people? Do your people have a flag or a banner?

Dupamine and I were talking about you on this thread earlier but mods moved my post to random. Of course, I don't start threads how good the mods are.

History / Poland, Lacking External Enemies, Turns on Itself [106]

The Polish over-sensitivity really gets on my nerves.

Clearly, you are not adjusting here well. Lacking a skill you could use in Scotland you have no choice but to endure your struggle in Poland craping on Poles and Poland daily. Get a life.

History / Polish president Mościcki and Hermann Göring hunting together in 1938 [76]

I see you're feeling multicultural today, Harry. Here is a nice pro-Semitic story to take your mind away from concentration camps:

Maariv reported on February 23 that the Tel Aviv municipality launched a "counselling program" to "help" Jewish girls who date and/or marry Arab boys.

Grassroots and governmental campaigning against interfaith mingling is nothing new in Israel: Just a few months ago there was a "task force" set up by the municipalioty of Petah Tikva, which is basically a suburb of Tel Aviv. The job of the task force was to patrol the city at night and break up Arab-Jewish dates. The London Times also covered the activities of a concerned parents' group vigilante gang patrolling the rapidly integrating Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze'ev, intimidating mixed couples.

But this is the first time officially sanctioned racism, funded by taxpayers, has come to Tel Aviv, Israel's liberal heartland.

coteret.com/2010/02/24/tel-aviv-presents-municipal-program-to-prevent-arab-boys-from-dating-jewish-girls/

Or perhaps a happier story?

This morning, Maariv reports that the Yeshiva's dean has just published on the proscribed dos and don'ts (mainly the former) regarding the killing of gentiles. Here are some choice excerpts.

Also, anyone who weakens our own state by word or similar action is considered a pursuer...Hindrances-babies are found many times in this situation. They block the way to rescue by their presence and do so completely by force. Nevertheless, they may be killed because their presence aids murder. There is justification for killing babies if it is clear that they will grow up to harm us, and in such a situation they may be harmed deliberately, and not only during combat with adults."...

Life / Any there treatment centers for unmarried in Poland? [36]

Ashley, Not all immigrant groups want to assimilate even if they are encouraged to do so. Some want benefits yet they do not want to participate in the community life - they don't want responsibility other citizens have to bear. Of course, they want a community, but only theirs, and create ghettos on their own. Sometimes they even insist on their own ghettos. Assimilation might even be considered treason within their own community and those willing to assimilate will be shunned and outcast from their own ghetto/community. I take it you are Australian, so your concept will no doubt differ from mine and you cannot project Australia's situation on to Poland's. We presently do not have any large groups of immigrants that are not willing to assimilate and we don't have problems that other nation have who accepted such groups.

Recently, France deported those who do not want to assimilate, perhaps a good precedent for the rest of western Europe. Not to sound one sided, I would deport those Poles who are sponging of any foreign state and are not willing to assimilate, and I'm sure there are some.

Charity starts at home. A good principle.

You should have chained yourself in Poland and never left it for work in those countries where you undermined wages. How is it?

Air is still free, I certainly did not undermine wages, and my accent is just fine, in French or English. You backward Ukis think that everyone working in a foreign country is a migrant worker working in some cabbage patch for food only. But I prefer your kind in my country than, say, Somalis. You also would prefer me than a skinny. You and I know that.

Life / Any there treatment centers for unmarried in Poland? [36]

No, you are mistaking me for someone who hasn't lived in 'diversity.' I have lived and worked in the U.S., England, and France. I have seen my Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian neigorhood go to slum when the Puerto Ricans started taking over. In France, the Algerians and Maroccans had made the prices of our property plummet. It is no mystery that people feel best around similar people. In Warsaw, we have a sizeable Vietnamese population and there are no problems. Their children intergrate well, they make no strange demmands on their hosts, they work hard, they do not terrorize the local population.

I'm glad you found a safe, white neigborhood, with a touch of exotica to make everyone feel they are tolerant and just perfect.

Except for those Poles, of whatever ethnic background or sexuality who are diverse enough in their own lives.

Yes, they have Discovery Channel now, so why travel. They can have Chinese take out and pretend they are diverse. :)

And if you want to call me hypocrite, that's fine.

No offense, just trying to see if you're freaky. You're not. I stick to the old rule: When a Pole wants diversity, a Pole travels to exotic places. I do just that.

And most relationships end up in homicide anyway. ;)

I'm with Ashley on that one.

She is almost as funny as Nathan.

Just some should open their minds, and close their eyes to the skin color.

I bet when you look for an appartment to live in, you look in those good white neighborhoods where the chance of being raped is much, much less. Love multiculties; they are so idealistic and naive.

Ok, if not Germans, than who? Maybe Ukrainians, but what would be the challange without huge "multicultural" problems? Would these Uki girls make you feel safer?

d

You bet I am. I already started to phone my unmarried relatives and work with them, supporting them in these tough time when they need me the most.

You're a good man, for a rezun.

But since this is Polish site, I decided to find out what Polish people do in the German province where you live.

We are not officially a German province yet, but our present government is working on it as we speak. I'm so sick of people saying the PO gov. and PO media are not doing enough. If only those pesky Polish nationalists, I mean fascists, as the anti-fascist Wyborcza instructs us to call them, would stop hanging on to outdated concepts as "Bóg, Honor, Ojczyzna." These fascists are not even vegeterians, imagine?

USA, Canada / PolAm style Thanksgiving? [35]

I just mentioned that I don't know of any farms from which to get turkey here in the area (where Fuzzy lives).

Fine. Someone else might though. It is easy enough to ask in a village who has turkies and will they sell you one. It's not that people put up signs "Get your turkey for Thanksgiving here." You boys would be very lean in communist times:

Anyway, let him ask at his local butcher shop.

USA, Canada / PolAm style Thanksgiving? [35]

Regarding the farms, I don't know of anywhere that raises turkey in the area.

I did not mean turkey farms. Individual farmers have ducks, geese, turkey, etc. That is why I suggested taking a Polish friend along to take care of this seemingly simple task. Wouldn't you like to taste turkey that doeas not smell of fish? But, perhaps you guys don't want to deal with PiS voters? Tell them it's for Purim. lol

USA, Canada / PolAm style Thanksgiving? [35]

i'd like to avoid the supermarkets for something like this but

Have you not been to the countryside yet? You will easily get a turkey, in fact, it will be your first turkey that is not factory farm raised. You might procure other real food while you are at it. Take a Polish friend with you so you don't get taken too much. Dress down. :)

Not having a bank account, not being able to use a computer and preferring cats to women might just fit the profile.

It is easy even for foreigners like you to start an account here, and while programming is no doubt above your competence, you can get by, I see. We are not really interested in your sexual preference.

............

Nathan, what is the success rate of these treatment centers in the new Russian province where you live? I would think you would be more interested in such social issues in the Ukraine, not Poland. The article is about a Third World country, so I see how you can feel these issues are common for Ukraine and India though.

News / Local elections in Poland, EU citizens should register to vote [57]

The PIS morons will loose anyway, big time.

It would be good though if the PIS morons would be defeated in the first round.

Just for the record: you are a foreigner who has no concept of this country's politics, but you are politicaly correct; you have mainstream acceptable views; you are almost a Polish yuppie, and regreatably you can vote.

Your nick Sobieski, are you a Polish nationalist now or do you just like nationalists?

IMHO: PiS must be stopped.

I hope you don't go postal, Pawian. Get some help.

Life / Is the word "Polack"rascist? [185]

The word Polack is a slur. It is not offensive to people lacking selfrespect. Its use is welcome and encouraged on this "non-Polish Forum."

Law / Polish business haven't got a clue: Discuss. [72]

I met a few expats in Warsaw a while ago who had earnt good money in Poland, but they were still teaching English and had nothing of a "career" to speak of

I've just started teaching a class (foot in the door, etc) at one of the private universities - the money is rubbish, but it's a start.

Your career, as opposed to those expats still teaching English, sure sounds to be on the upswing. What exotic bullshit name do you prefer for your "profession?"
